Hello there. Allow me to introduce myself.

My name is Rab and no, that's not my full name but I'd like to be addressed as that instead. I am 17 years old when I joined WA and I have taken a big risk. Like, a HUGE RISK.

I have decided to stop my education and pursue affiliate marketing as my career. I am not joking. Some people may think I am crazy, my friends do not believe in my success and have doubts, including my mum as well.

Don;t jump to conclusions, though. I am not the smartest in school but when I study, I tend to top the class every time and even surpass the top scorer in my school. But that's only when I really want to achieve good grades and pursue it. Whenever I put my heart and mind into something, I make it happen.

I have completed my formal education of 10 years (2007 - 2016) but I came back to school for another year (2017) to sit for an exam to enter a good college and enter the local uni for medical school. Competition was tense as hell but I manage to do well in school and those who doubt me and thought I was lazy as heck was amazed. I am not amazing but I sure as hell am full of surprises.

However, as months went by, even though I did well in school and was constantly praised by my teachers, parents and friends, my career goal changed. Well, this is because I decided to come face to face with reality. I wanted to pursue Medical school because I want to earn a decent living and help my mum out.

I'll be honest. I'm not rich but I am blessed. However, I can't just stay poor my WHOLE LIFE. I have to admit, I am quite materialistic and always desire for luxury stuffs. But that does not make me any less human.

Anyways, I had to be realistic and find ways to earn MORE money besides going through medical school. Yes, I know that I should have just stick with it and once I become a doctor it will pay off but do you know how many years that will take? It takes 5 years to finish medical school (unpaid, and if I were to apply for student loan, there will be a MASSIVE debt once I graduated) and a residency program that might take up 2-3 years idk it depends.

Additionally, there is a 17 year old boy named Casey Adams who already make a decent living through his personal branding. It was really inspiring although I was jealous as hell. Super jealous. There are people younger than me that are wayyyyy more successful and I'm like WOW WHAT HOW? This is not fair!! If they can do it, I can do it.

So I thought hard over this and I do not want this. I want to be able to earn a passive income at an early age and not have to be unemployed for so long. Some of you may think that I could juggle medical school and do affiliate marketing at the same time.

Sorry, I can't multi task. It's not productive that way and I only want to focus on one thing only. Looking at my circumstances, I had to find other ways to achieve my goals, I then stumbled across a spam ad about some work at home mums who earns 10k per month online. And that's where my hunt for making money online begins.

I've always wondered how there are people who could earn so much money online. I didn't know that was possible (besides e-commerce stores and dropshipping etc). So I researched and did some surveys but nothing worked and most of them required a degree in blababla. I was frustrated.

That's when I came across a Wealthy Affiliate page. I do not remember who it is but I know it was one of a WA member promoting WA. I was skeptical at first but his story was really inspiring. I then decided to give the free membership at WA a shot and I was frustrated because I couldn't access the courses 2-5 unless I sign up for premium but since it was $19 for the first month, I decided okay I'll give it a shot once again.

And BAM! I couldn't stop thinking of WA ever since. The best community, best tools, best platform, best hosting, just one of the best out there, hands down.

FYI I joined on June 2017, tried the premium for 1 month till July 2017 but I stopped my billing and didn't do much for the first month because I was still in school and I had no time so I decided to wait for the holidays in November to start getting back to business.

I've saved up so much money for the premium membership and I am willing to invest and learn in order for my online business to not only thrive but dominate my competitors in my niche. LOL, yeah big words, Rab.

So after months of analysis paralysis I have come to a conclusion and decided to give it my all with Wealthy Affiliate and create my niche site. I told my mum about it, she supported me but still had some doubts. I asked her to give me at least a year to prove her wrong and okay, get back to work!

Financial freedom sounds great and if its possible why not make it happen?

thanks for reading!

Hey Rab,

It's nice to meet you. You are doing the right thing. Follow your instincts - and in a few years (if not sooner) I have no doubt you'll be financially free.

Kyle would agree with you about the university thing. In four years you could be very wealthy already pursuing affiliate marketing.

I am 54 and still chasing the dream. Believe me, it gets much much harder as we get older (not impossible but definitely more difficult).

I wish you all the best for success.

Devan.

Hello Rab!
wow u would forgo a formal medical education for this? That takes A LOT of courage, determination and confidence that u can succeed in this field! I am a student too so i totally know what u are gg thru! I am studying in college right now and i just have a simple goal of being able to support myself and pay for my own tuition fees! Truly respect u for your courage and winner's mentality. I am willing to give WA a try to earn some passive income while i study. I do want to know more about how u managed to juggle this online pursuit and your studies so i hopefully can gain some insight as how to manage my own time! you seem like a really friendly and genuine person and have a really nice smile too HAHA chat me up on insta if you got time and want to share in a more private setting.

My take on formal education these days is different than the average masses. I want to be rich but I know that going the normal education pathway is not the way to go. I didn't actually do affiliate marketing and study at the same time. I finished my formal education first and then focused full time on affiliate marketing.

Wow...a very determined profile I have ever read on WA. It is good to have our dream and pursue it while you can. Go and it and go what you wish. Along the path you will learn and gain something, no matter what is the outcome. As Apple former CEO Steve Jobs said, our life is full of dots and when you join them together that will be your life journey. God bless you fully!

Wow, that's an awesome bio you have there. I'm impressed at how smart you really are. You seem to have a grasp on things that people your age don't think about. You are definitely wise beyond your years! People are going to doubt you, there is no way around that, the important thing is that you believe in yourself and trust me, you will prove them wrong, I can already tell you are capable young lady. I pray you find success with your business! Keep up the good work!

I could totally relate to you when I read your bio :)

I was in Law & Society program when I realized that I enjoy traveling and I definitely don't wanna be stuck in one place (and that's what would've happened if I were to become a lawyer). Well I didn't wanna become one in the first place (my parents did LOL).

I just graduated and decided to pursue online opportunities instead and THANK GOD I DID! My parents were mad/sceptical but I still knew it's my think to do - so just kept on. So, stay strong Rab, you already know what you want and I am sure you will succeed in no time! :)

Cheers,
Zarina

P.S. Check out Dylan's page!! And his training. It will change your entire life (I can't believe I didn't know about this strategy before!)

You will prove your mom wrong with this strategy :)

Hi Rab,
Welcome to WA, you have a great attitude. Never mind what other people say. If you believe in yourself and that you can do something, then you can.
Go ahead and be your own boss. I worked for many other people in my life, making lots of money for them. Going into business for myself was the best thing I ever did. It's hard work, takes a long time, and often long hours but if you have the will to succeed, you will. Go for it.
And if you need help just ask, this is the most helpful community I have ever seen. Everyone here is not just cheering you on but helping you every step of the way.

Thanks Ed, for the support and encouragement! :) Yes, business takes time and dedication. They don't teach us this in school and I definitely learned a lot here, on the WA platform.

I matured as a person, too and develop the qualities in me that I didn't know I had the potential to do so. Starting a business is really different than just studying and choosing a career. There's a huge gap and it does not matter what qualifications you have. Everyone starts from the bottom and learn mistakes from experience.

Merry Christmas to you and happy holidays! :)

Guuurl....you are Fabulously Fierce!!! I don't know what made you decide to follow me, but all I can say is...THANK YOU!!!

I don't know anything about you other than what you shared, but I believe without a shadow of a doubt that you will surpass even your greatest dreams! There are people 2 or 3 times your age who don't have the spunk, the confidence, or the conviction about their future that you have at the tender age of 17! I'm so excited for you, Rab!

I've included a link to a few success stories from fellow Wealthy Affiliate Members, perhaps you and your mom can read them together. This is not the Matrix, nor did we fall down the rabbit hole...this is for real, with real people making real money!!!

I'd love to hear what your mom thought after reading a few of these stories. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

And just some final words of encouragement: Just because some people can't see the light that shines from within doesn't mean it doesn't exist. When you refuse to allow others to defuse your light, you give them permission to let their light shine as well.

Aww thanks for the support and encouragement, Veronica! :)
My mum knows that other people have success in making money online, its just that sometimes she doubts my ability or potential to do the same. This is normal for me at least, in an Asian household where everyone strives for the best job positions like in the office, being a doctor/lawyer and then suddenly someone in your family decides to pursue something out of the ordinary. Its like saying "I want to make YouTube videos as my career". Sounds absurd at first but it is possible, just takes time. I barely socialize with any of my so called "friends". I know they will come begging to me for money once I make more than them.

OK...so your culture has a lot to do with how her views were shaped. Makes sense.

There will be times of doubts and discouragement...it's OK, it's part of the process. Recognize them for what they are: temporary feelings and then just keep it moving forward!

Hey Rab!
Interesting profile. I’m glad you take that risk and get out of the traditional education system which will never make you rich.

I’m a 20 year old high school graduate. I had the same situation as you. I can do well in school if I want to. I managed to get into a good uni but I’m not planning to complete or even enroll in it.

Traditional education is dead. It trains you to become an employee. If you want to be rich, you need financial education and self-development.

I’m going to make a full time living online and live the lifestyle I want to live instead of working for money and working for other people all my life. I’m sure it’s the same for you.

Have you read Rich Dad Poor Dad?

Hope to connect with you :)

Cheers

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read my LENGTHY bio that is never ending.

I just read through your bio and didn't know you were from Singapore! (I thought I was the only sg-ean here HAHA). You've definitely made the right choice to become a premium member of WA and make your dream lifestyle possible.

I have heard of Rich Dad Poor Dad so many times but didn't get the chance to read cus I was too busy. I might read it over the weekends.

Good day to you Rab. Is there any way that you can do both, school and online marketing? You may be able to earn enough money from affiliate marketing (which is passive income) to help pay for your schooling. I am not a believer in school loans, you either work your ass off while attending school and graduate debt-free or live at home rent free, go to a 2-year college and finish the required courses like Math, English, etc then save up for University to get a degree. A medical degree pays good, but you have to work long hours.
Online marketing requires the same amount of work and time getting started but as you build you begin to get traction before any money is being earned consistently. Good luck to you and I wish you much success in your online journey.

I can do that if I want to but the college education is rigorous and tough within a short span of 1.5 years and then I will have to sit for my A levels etc. I want to focus on generating income first and be financially stable all on my own.

Yes, you're right, long hours. Hospital shifts are no joke and it's really tiring. If I want to study, I'll focus on that only and same goes for work. As for now, my only focus is on generating income online, that's all.

Thanks, Ken. All the best to you, too! :)

Hi Rab,

Wow, that's some profile!

I wish you every success in all you wish to achieve. You sound very motivated and committed to your goal so I'm sure you will achieve it.

Never let the doubters put you off, surround yourself with positive people who will help you achieve your goal.

Your never too young to start out on your own and reach for what you want, I was going to wish you luck but I don't think you'll need it, just don't quit when the going gets tough and you make mistakes, its all part of the learning curve that will make you stronger and get you to where you want to go.

Cheers

Hi there where are you from? 17 is a good age to start. More time you have to fail and learn.

The thing is if you're a 100% newbie there's going to be a lot to learn. Web design, design, writing good articles. Knowing how to convince buyers. How to get traffic and ranking. These are all must haves.

Video and animation marketing is also great. If you can draw or are willing to learn, even better. The thing is you are still very young and have so much time to learn. And wealthy affiliate is a good start. I hope you've not given up on this. Are you still active?

Hi Jason,

Yeah there is a lot to be learned and regarding SEO, it gets overwhelming at times that I sometimes feel like maybe I am not cut out for this but I have taken the risk to break the traditional education pathway and instead pursue affiliate marketing so I should take this as a process and learn slowly.

I'm from Singapore and I just sat for my O level this year. I wasted one additional year to stay in school because if I had started sooner in WA in 2016, I probably would not be so overwhelmed by now. I'm still currently working on writing content for my site first and sharing it on social media.
