If You Add Comments To A Website In The Offer Comments Section At WA Make Them Positive

Here at Wealthy Affiliate (WA) we as members of the community are encouraged to request comments on our own website(s) and to add comments to other members' websites.

However, there seems to be an unwritten catch: If you add comments to a website in the offer comments section at WA make them positive.

As I understand it, the main reasons members are encouraged to request and add comments are to promote the community aspect of the program and to enhance the SEO function of our websites.

Perhaps there are other reasons as well.

It is also my understanding that we are supposed to be unique and honest in the comments we add to someone's website. I've found that to not necessarily be the case, at least as it applies to honesty.

The way the system works is that every time we comment on others' sites we accrue one credit. Two credits are required in order to request one comment on our own site.

This is to promote a pay-it-forward atmosphere, which I think is a good thing.

So, why am I writing this?

Within the past week, on three separate occasions, I've had my comments disapproved. It's happened a few times in the past as well, but it is the most recent two that were disapproved that spurred me to write this.

Before I explain that, I will say that the first one that was disapproved a few days ago was because of an error I made by posting the comments directly on someone's site rather than through the "add comments" section at WA. The reason the comments were not approved was because after realizing I'd left the comments in the wrong place, I added them in the right place. When I did that, the comments were deemed duplicate, which they in fact were.

The recipient responded to my comments and as it turned out received free comments from me yet I did not receive credit because of the duplication.

I wasn't happy about it but I accept the fact that I erred.

Every other time I've had comments disapproved it seems to have been for the same or similar reason--I did not leave glowingly, positive comments. It's not that I left negative comments. It's that I didn't leave contrived comments that were full of praise. It's that I dared question a point or gave my opinion that may not be in total alignment with the post I left comments about.

Here is a screenshot of one of the two notifications I received that my comments had been disapproved. Also included are the comments themselves that are marked with arrows pointing at them:

As website owners, we have the authority to negate/disapprove comments.

I support that.

However, I think it compromises the integrity of the website and the add-comments section of WA if everyone expects everyone else to leave namby-pamby comments on their websites.

I think we should all be respectful and try to be constructive, while being honest. Sometimes that means saying things that may be taken as less than positive. We're supposed to be helping one another. I know that's my intent. It isn't always seen that way.

So, I repeat. If you add comments to a website in the offer comments section at WA make them positive.

Feel free to respond to what I've written whether or not you agree with me. All I ask is that you are respectful and honest.

I will respond as soon as possible.

Totally agree:). I love when someone leaves a recommendation for my site or a question, but only when done in a positive light. That's called "courtesy!"
Thanks for sharing, Robert:)
Blessings:)

Thanks for your reply. Sometimes we need to be told things we don't want to hear. I try to always be respectful and honest regardless of the situation. I guess some don't appreciate it for what it is.

I agree with your comments in total.

I feel that it is the world we live in, where people expect to receive positive comments all the time. I don't believe this to be healthy, not for anyone.

Sometimes it is very hard to phrase constructive criticism positively when we are trying to point out a weakness.

And as far as helping one another I would expect people to say to me that the various aspects in my website, post or layout are "wrong, poor, unattractive, horrible" and should be changed. I find it difficult to know where the issue is when I receive a positive comment about "an issue" because I have no idea what to fix, adjust or remove.

It might be just me, but I refrain from commenting when the content is, in my opinion very poor.

Thanks for your comments. I guess we're pretty much on the same page about this.
