I wouldn't worry about any minimum, sometimes I find it's necessary to write pages and posts that don't have keywords. You may also rank for keywords that you didn't include or even think of but a search engine may think your content is relevant for. If you have a minimum or average of 100 per month, and you add two pages or posts a week, that would be 10,000 visitors a month within a year. I prefer highly targeted keywords myself, I'd rather have 100 visitors to my site that buy, than 1,000,000 that don't. :) Rich.

How low is too low for monthly searches?

Kyle recommends that there should be at least fifty but he also says traffic is traffic I like to target the low hanging fruit myself. I usually go for at least 150 monthly searches. Every once in a while I find the gold. Like yesterday I was writing an article and I searched for quite a while to find a really good keyword and I found one that had over 6,000 searches with estimated traffic of 650 and the qsr was 75. So be persistent with your searches until you find something you like and can work the idea of your article around.

I need some help to understand if this would work or come over as too much as trying to sell something. Could I recommend a list of products to help someone searching under a pa
Thanks everyone for your replies. I'm going to keep researching the idea for a bit longer and not dive straight in! Be good to minimise the beginners throw away niches :) It's a good keyword but I'm not sure I have enough experience to make good use of it just yet.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply :)
Lots of people are writing without even have experiences with the topics and it works for them. You can always do a research for the review or ask people you know who already use the products...Nenita
I wouldn't see why you couldn't make it work. It's easier of course if you have used some of the products, but it isn't absolutely critical. Just make sure you give good information is what I would say!
I agree, when you have tried the product yourself it is much easier to write a proper review, ideas for further content might become apparent as you are using it.. You could also create video content of you unboxing and using it for the first time.
It is quite hard to advise when we don't know what the product is though!

Paul
Just thought an example to explain better. Say I made a site on shoes, I want to makpostsos based on different collections. For example great looking pink shoes, shoes for weddings, comfortable shoes etc. So I wouldn't be wearing them myself but giving a starting point to shorten every people's search for a pair of shoes for a particular occasion.
My biggest problem being that my product won't have much to write about, it's more visual than serving a purpose :-/
I think anything is possible if you are creative enough to give a spin that is all your own. You will have to differentiate yourself from sites like shopping.com, slickdeals.com, etc. that do this sort of thing. I like Rich's (@RICH) idea of a review aggregator. This can prevent you from having to buy the products as the reviews already exist and you just have to add some value to that.
I know you were only using shoes as an example but continuing with that example, there is a site called Zappos.com which you can draw ideas from.
Best Regards,
Jim
You can always do aggregate reviews, utlising those from mainstream media, consumer magazines, purchasers comments on Amazon and TrustPilot for example, creating your own unique aggregate summary. It's something Members have to do where they're in niches such as televisions or computers, where it's unlikely manufacturers would send them review models and it would be prohibitively costly to purchase them. Rich.
If I am to understand your inquiry, you want to have a website that compares several different affiliate products all based on some keyword. But not being able to give a personal review, does that means you have not tried the products yourself?
While it is certainly feasible to review products that you have not tried, you will find it much easier to do so if you have purchased and tried the products. You can also ask the owners of the products for review copies letting them know what your plan is. Often, they will be happy to provide that.
Having a personal insight on products gives you more credibility in the eyes of your perspective customers. Further, having inside knowledge about a product makes it much easier to write so that will take care of the lack of content situation that you mentioned. Like I said, it's not impossible to do blind reviews it's just much easier when you know about them and can offer your own view.

You can put an autoresponder form code in a text widget but you'll have to set up broadcasts in your autoresponder whenever you add a new post.
I believe the Contact Form 7 plug in can be modified to do something like that but you have to change it in PHP code.
Otherwise there could be another plug in that handles that but I am not familiar with it.

Thanks for the help. I've added a simple form for now so users can subscribe and will change it at a later date when I have a following. I think it's going to be to time consuming atm.

Hi,
I'm starting to write the home page for my site now I have my structure in place. Rather than write a lengthy article and trying to provide all the answers in one plac
Hey Tina,
I like what you have developed so far. Search engines love internal linking, meaning linking to pages/posts within your own site. On the front page of your site, I noticed that you have four links to other areas of your site all clumped together in one area. One suggestion would be to set up a bullet list of those links and have something that says "we have several resources that can help with teething babies. They include: and then put a bulleted list of links, etc. or something like that.
One thing I am curious about is, how are you monetizing your site? Are you planning on capturing emails or selling directly? I know you are still working on the concept but you may want to start thinking about what your goal for monetizing is going to be.
As for your question about SEO, don't concentrate on that too much, especially the "tricks" that you may hear about like putting quote around or what have you. Search engine algorithms are getting much more sophisticated of late and can detect these techniques and will actually serve to hurt your rankings. Just concentrate on writing good content for your readers. I am not saying keywords don't matter. It's just they should be natural within your content.
Best Regards,
Jim
Thanks Jim for the feedback :)
I'm going to be using the 'Natural remedies' page on my site as my blog posts and looking at a mixture of ways of settling babies, many linked to a product. For simplicity I will start with Amazon and then look for some more specialised affiliate programs.
