If you did this, you would get no comments. People are not going to sign-up to someones site (that they don't know nor do they trust just yet) just so they can leave a comment.
I don't recommend taking this approach. You can though put things like "captcha" and spam prevention plugins in place to avoid getting spam comments on your website.
No problem, you don't want to hinder people's ability to engage within your content Peter. This is a big part of rankings and if your content is active, it will lead to much more in the way of rankings.

It sound interesting and I am not sure how it would work to earn income but that is why we are all here. Maybe someone who know more on it will reply !!!
I'm thinking that a site that teaches useful information could become an authority site and hopefully generate return visitors. I need to do more research but I think that I will be able to put promotions on the site that will hopefully lead to sales. From what I've read, authority sites grow slowly but can build a solid following.
