Finally over 1k total impressions
Hi all, today I finally made it and got over 1k total impressions as shown on Google Search Console. For those who are not familiar with the term "total impressions": That means how many times a user saw a link to my site in Google's search results. (I know clicks are still low but that will come over time.)
It's not always funny and easy - but keep on going!
I have to admit that it took longer than I had expected at the beginning. When I started as a new member here at Wealthy Affiliate I was excited! I wanted to start like a rocket. But after a few weeks my ambition ceased.
I was thinking: Is it the right topic I am trying to build my website around? Should I stop and start a new one - as - after watching and going through more and more trainings and courses many new ideas came up to my mind and I started to doubt that my original one was the best. I talked to other members. Asked for their opinion. Talked to friends - asked what they think.
I was at a crossroad. Well, I thought I would not have enough ideas regarding articles or reviews to write about my original topic. I thought I would find ideas much easier about other topics than the one that my website is about. But I listened to the feedback: "Why would you scrap it? Seems to be good content on the site."
I also know that this is still the first step I am in right now. But seeing my total impressions increase recently gives me back the faith that I may be at the right path and gives me the power to continue. Nobody here at WA tells you that success comes in without (hard) work. But WA gives you the tools, the trainings and the community to achieve success much faster.
Share your knowledge - You definitely have a lot of it!
With this post I want to encourage other (new) members to keep up at times when (the first) excitement ceases. I think WA gives all of us a good chance to reach our goals. Find a niche that you are excited about. Help others around the whole world (and all other WA members, of course!) with all the knowledge you already have inside in you. Everyone of you has so much unused knowledge in you that needs to be shared with others looking for exactly that knowledge you are holding back unintentionally.
As mentioned above, I was not sure if I had enough ideas about topics I could address in my posts and articles. Now I know: I had too many - but didn't know or didn't realize that. I didn't realize how much I actually know!
The way to success takes effort, willingness, time and patience
Well, it sometimes takes time to research thoroughly on a product or topic. For example, today I also finished - more or less - a review on a technical product for my site. As I really didn't know too much about this kind of product it took me many hours (thank god I didn't count them!) to research and write a review I am very content with now. So: It is doable - it just takes enough effort and willingness to do so.
And - finally - it also takes time and patience - even if you add excellent content to your website consistently. But as you are already here at WA you will probably know that. So: Keep up your good work and share it with the rest of the world. I am sure they will appreciate that!

Thanks for this information, it’s helped me press forward. I started a new site for SAC so only month 2 and only a little interest so far.. being away right now I can’t check analytics (WiFi bad) but a week Monday I get home.. 🤞🏻For good news!
It is a great feeling isn't it, when you start to see those impression rise! and look getting clicks too! amazing.

Don't worry about your click-throughs. My niche site is only achieving a 1% CTR at the moment. And to be honest, I've been neglecting the site a bit recently.
I've attached a screenshot so you can see your results are perfectly normal. :)
Thanks for this. As a new person to all of this, I wasn’t sure what were a good number of impressions of ctr. I have no clicks yet so still just in the impressions stage. How long has the site you show here been up and running?
That particular site is misleading as it's a year old but it only has seven posts on it. That's right - just seven.
As I said, I've been badly neglecting it! :)
The point of me sharing it was to show the ratio between impressions and click-throughs.
I'm now working on the site again so it will be interesting to see how things change.
Yeah it will be really interesting. wow that is amazing with just 7 posts, imagine what it could be with 70! amazing. thank you that has really motivated me. Do you find that your average position got significantly better the older your site was?
Indeed - that was my thinking too (kicking myself as I thought it).
The average position fluctuated over the last year which, with such a small number of articles is to be expected. Some posts will rank higher than others and will be in constant competition with other posts.
What IS interesting is that if you look at the chart below, the impressions started to consistently climb in January this year - IN SPITE of the fact I wasn't publishing to the site.
Previously the impressions had occasionally spiked but settled back to zero but now the impressions line is constantly above the zero line. So yes, I've got some motivation to start working on the site again. :)
I think the values are slightly different from my original image above because the date range is slightly different.
