Habits Of Success For Wealthy Affiliate

Hey all,

I've been talking to a few members here lately that have mentioned to me that they are not getting rankings, they're not selling things and that they're not having any form of success. Granted it is usually early days for these people (meaning that they've only been at Wealthy Affiliate for a short amount of time), but they are frustrated by not seeing the results that they may see others getting in a relatively short amount of time.

I HAVE A SOLUTION

Ok - that's a pretty bold statement - and there are many different ways to skin a cat, but this solution that I'm talking about I believe is something that needs to be addressed.

How long before I make any money out of Wealthy Affiliate?

It's a great question, and one definitely worth asking. Heck, that's the reason we are all here, right? So how long does it take to make any money from what we learn here at WA?

The sad answer for most people to read is that there is no straight forward answer to the question. The variants are so vast that it's an impossible question to answer, but there are things that you CAN do to ensure your success as much as possible.

DO THE TRAINING!!

See that little green button on the top left of the page?? HIT IT! Jump right in and follow along! OK, that might not be the answer you were looking for either, but rest assured that it is what you need to do - FIRST.

This is where people can go wrong...

Make sure you go through the training and implement the steps, but DON'T DO IT JUST ONCE. This is the key. Go through the training several times!!! This is ultra important!!

Because we are all mostly here out of the desperation of making money, we wan't instant gratification - and we tend to rush through the training - implementing the steps and then wonder why nothing is happening. There's a pretty good reason for this...

Let me explain it this way:

You are studying to become, say, a doctor. You wouldn't just read through a manual that tells you what the body parts are and then go RIGHT! I'm ready to take the final exam! Now, where are all my patients??

We are all in the process of studying and implementing internet marketing strategies. As students, we need to be extremely diligent and do exactly that - WE NEED TO STUDY!

One of Jay's webinars points out that when we are becoming experts in our niche, we need to treat it as an ongoing process. We are NOT doing a book report. We are NOT cramming for an exam. We are NOT trying to remember as much as possible in a short amount of time in case someone gives us a 'surprise test'. We are here to learn and get a deep understanding of internet marketing.

Let me ask you this. Have you ever watched a movie more than once? Of course you have! Especially if it's a movie that you enjoyed. Do you remember thinking "oh, I didn't notice that the first time I watched this"? Probably. Did you also notice that when you picked up that little 'piece' that you missed the first time, other parts of the movie made more sense to you? Again, probably!!

The luxury of time

I get that we all don't have the amount of time that we'd like to be able to spend it here at WA. There's so much to life that needs to be taken care of. And it's important stuff. But how important is your online business? I'm guessing that it is very important to you, otherwise you wouldn't be here...

Create successful habits

One thing that I've conditioned myself to do is to watch at least 2 webinars a day. I consider myself to be lucky in that I have the time to do this. Sure, I have other things to do - I'm working on my clients sites and my own projects, but I make sure that I dedicate some of my time to continually learning. It's important to commit to the expansion of your 'bag of tricks'. That way, you won't be asking how long it takes to make money with Wealthy Affiliate, and you'll have the patience to understand why it actually takes as long as it does. The amount of times that I've re-watched the webinars here and learned something different every time would probably amaze you.

Yes - It's important to spend time creating as much quality content on your site as humanly possible (unless you are at that beautiful stage where you have the funds to pay a team of crack writers, in which case, you are probably not needing to read this!), but you ALSO need to spend time getting to understand the 'ins and outs' of your business as well. THOROUGHLY!!

Here's the thing. If you are creating amazing content that everyone in the family you show it to reads it and says "Thanks! I learned something!", but you haven't taken the time to understand how meta descriptions and ranking strategies work, then you don't know your business well enough. It's no wonder that you're not ranking and therefore, not getting any sales.

Finale

Watch and read the training. Do it. But do it more than once. I can't stress this enough. Sure, with the vast amount of training available here at WA it can be very overwhelming, but trust me - you'll be glad that you spent your time watching and re-watching the training here - rather than looking for 'magic bullets' and chasing 'shiny objects'! You WILL have yourself a successful online business.

All comments and likes are fully appreciated! If you have something to add in terms of successful principles that have worked for you here at WA, I'd love to hear them.

Cheers,

Peter

Do the next right thing and the profit, will follow!!
Training is not buffet, style...but, step by step!
Barb

You got it Barb

So...I guess you're saying that the training is a full course meal...I like that!

Just a lot better quality than sizzler...!

Training is a month long smorgasbord!!
Soup to Nuts!! Lots, of nuts!!
Barb

Just like a smorgasbord, you gotta take your time! That way you'll get the most out of it!

Great stuff Peter, all very good points. I've designed sites for years but find that going back through trainings is continuing to learn benefits us at any age or level of experience. Peace bro! :-)

Thankya Bob! You're absolutely right about continuing to learn on all levels, and because things can change so quickly, you gotta keep your finger on the pulse. Hope things are going well for you!

great post Peter, impressive habits you got going there - two webinars a day - I've gravitated towards doing what you are telling people here, doing that training over and over, watching those webinars before seeing what is on TV, and boy can I see it make a difference...

I love that you are setting some high standards and discipline here and giving a great example to all

and maybe I'd add one thing to your post - that would be to read THIS POST often and several times! :)

yes, STUDY, right across every niche this hard work piece is absent a lot of the time, people treat it like school, a half effort, copying this or that, then wonder at average grades...while expecting As....

Thanks for dropping by Mary! You're spot on. I actually have stopped watching TV almost altogether. Very occasionally I'll watch something funny and uplifting, but I tend to stay away from it most of the time. It's such a time drainer! How did you go with starting the site for your dad?

me too, there's always a couple of fave programs from time to time, but I find with TV it's a bit like when we eat properly we don't need junk food...

that site is still on the long finger but getting closer :D

hope your mum is enjoying hers :)

Love that analogy! No need to eat junk... I Love it!

Mum is loving hers, and thanks for asking. She always comes into the office proudly with her new articles and hands them over. It's great. It's really given her a new lease on life.

wow, that's brilliant about your mum, there's another inspiring post-to-be for WA :)

Good idea! Thanks again!

I'd also add to check out other sites in your niche that have more visitors, seem more successful. What are they doing differently than you? How can you do what you do better than they do, so people come to you instead of them? Don't ever be content that you've done everything right and perfectly - if the results aren't coming, then there are things that can be improved. Never stop learning.

Absolutely Jeannine. 100%. Checking out the competition is a big part of the research. I was also considering adding to the post - but might just write another one - about how the doors to the internet haven't closed just because we are here at WA. There are tons and tons of other learning resources out there that are just as valid and cover things that we don't have here (just yet!). Thanks for dropping by! I really appreciate it!

Excellent post, Peter.
A wealth of info here to last a lifetime.

All the best.
David

You got it David! And it's only going to continue to grow!

Excellent Post Peter! A+++ :))

And all you say is true. Good to have you here, you are a great support to our community. It takes time to learn and to implement, but we shall succeed. :))

Thanks Stefan,

My mum always told me I'd be good for something ;>

I agree with you, Stefan...Peter rocks!!!

Awww, thanks Vee!

Hi Peter. Thank you for this powerful insight into making things work at WA. I love it here and have been working hard to generate my own success but I know it will take time and that is ok with me. Little steps will get me to the top of the mountain. I will go back and revisit the training as you suggest as it is key to learning here. Thanks again and have a great day.

My pleasure Gail. You are so right. Step by step is definitely the key! That's exactly how you get to the top of the mountain! I actually think it's fun when you slow down and take in all the sights.

You have a great day too and thanks for dropping by!

Thank you for this. I tried to rush things. Have nowslowed right down and keep sorting out the content that I have written. It's been time consuming but it laying the foundation for a solid business. I will be repeating the training once I am through it.

Good for you Tania! I know what you mean about reordering and taking up time, but you'll know what I mean when I say that if you spent the time really learning and absorbing the info, you wouldn't have to go back and change things! It's time better spent!

Cheers,

Peter

Great post. Did you watch the whole videos second time round, or just skip through to certain bits? I'd like to do the training again but time is so short for me I barely get time to work on my sites. If it was a matter of reading it would be easier because I could skim read the parts that I already remember and therefore make it a bit quicker, but video means you almost have to watch every moment again. Any thoughts?

Hey Soraya,

Yes, I mean watching every video and every webinar the whole way through again - as well as reading all the articles. I get that it can be time consuming, but like I mentioned in the post, you pick up on things that you might have missed the first or second time around, and then other things that you thought you already knew actually makes a lot more sense. Like I said, I am lucky that I have the time to do it, but I believe that it actually saves me time because if my understanding is right, I'll be doing things in an effective way rather than having to go back again later and fix up the mistakes that I might have made. It's time better spent in my opinion - so in essence, you'll be saving time!

Thanks for the question. I really appreciate it!

Yes, well I absolutely agree - I just have to find a way to make it happen! Thanks for the great post - I've been wanting to do that for a while, & this gives me the necessary push!

Yeah - I hear you... time is definitely a factor. Best of luck with the re-training and I hope you find a bit of time to make it work for you!

Great post Peter! Good solid advice. I see so many people asking the same questions over and over and it's clear that they haven't done even half of the training here!

One thing that is true for sure is you don't get anything for nothing! Education is key, and hard work pays off... in the long run!

Thanks for taking the time to share this valuable advice, it's very much appreciated : )

Thanks Juliana!

I totally agree. I see the same thing and that was another inspiration for the post. There are people that have been around for longer than I have and they are asking the same questions time and time again. Don't get me wrong, I understand that we all have different learning styles and different levels of comprehension, but I see these questions and think "It's in the training! Surely you SHOULD know that one!".

I don't mean to be critical or judgmental (and sometimes that's really hard to get across when you're writing!), just trying to help..!

I really appreciate you dropping by and thanks for the comment!
