Welcome to the summary of Wealth File Number 8

Here is a short introduction for those who’ve just joined my series:

I’m reading the book “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” by T. Harv Eker. He has found out 17 ways of thinking and of taking action, which are essential if we want to get really successful and wealthy. He calls these ways of thinking “Wealth Files”. Throughout my journey to a Millionaires Mindset I’m sharing these Wealth Files with you.

Wealth File #8:

Rich people are willing to promote themselves and their value.”

Poor people think negatively about selling and promoting.”

Resenting promotion is one of the greatest obstacles to success.

There are several reasons why people have problem with promotion or sales, for example:

  • You may have had a bad experience in the past with people promoting to you inappropriately. In this case it is important to recognize that this experience is in the past and that holding on to it may notserve you today.
  • You may have had a disempowering experience when you tried to sell something to someone and that person totally rejected you. In this case, your distaste for promotion is a projection of your own fear of failure and rejection. Once again, realize the past does not equal the future.
  • Your issue might come from parental programming. Many of us were told that self-praise is impolite. But when it comes to business and money, you have to tell about your value, about the value of your product and services.

Blow your own trumpet!

Rich people are usually leaders and great promoters. To be a leader, you must inherently have followers and supporters, which means that you have to be adept at selling, inspiring and motivating people to buy into your vision.

If you believe in your value, in your product/services, how could it be appropriate to hide it from people who need it?

If you believe that what you have to offer can truly assist people, it is your duty to let as many people as possible to know about it.

Millionaire Mind Actions:

  1. Rate the product of service you are offering (or are planning to offer) from 1 to 10 in terms of how much you believe in its value (1 being the lowest and 10 the highest).
    - If your rating result in 7-9, revise your product or service to increase the value.
    - If your result is 6 or below, stop offering that product or service immediately and start representing something you truly believe in.
  2. Read books, read articles, listen to successful people, take courses on marketing and sales. Become an expert in these fields and learn how to promote your value successfully and with integrity.

Speak out following Declaration loud and clear to yourself, to underline your intention:
“I promote my value to others with passion and enthusiasm.”

My own experiences:
I have experienced all of the three above mentioned cases about resentful feelings towards promotion and sales, which have affected and shaped me. Since I started to reshape my mind by reading and learning from successful people and even more since the time I joined WA, I have recognized that these negative feelings have been holding me back immensely. I have also recognized and learned to better let go of resentful feelings and not to harbour prejudices. There is still work to do, therefore I’m determined to work on my self development each and every day.

Remember:

YOU CREATE YOUR SUCCESS, ONLY YOU, SO BE AWARE of your THOUGHTS and TAKE ACTION.

Hi Pernilla,
when I was in grad school I asked my public relations professor how she would define good public relations.
She told me that she didn't come up with the definition, but it had proven true to her success as a public relations professional. Intrigued, I asked her to tell me more.

She said her favorite definition of public relations is "Doing good and getting credit for it."
"Most people are able to convince people of the first part", she told me--Doing Good. However, "They don't follow up, or don't know how to follow up, with the second part--Getting credit", she continued.

Yes, it's important that people understand that you're doing good. But unless you figure out how to get credit for it, you won't get far. I think people who have a millionaires mindset know this.

Hi Thabo!

I've been looking forward to your comment. They are always highly interesting. You have had good advisors around you and you have an open mind and have soaked in so much wisdom throughout your life. Thank you for sharing these with me.

Doing good - offering the solution that are asked for and giving a high quality service - that's essential. Reaching out to people and tell them that we are good in our field, that's not the easiest thing, but crucial for our success. When people finally know we are there, they have first to be convinced that we are the right person to solve their problems. If we can prove to them that we are good they will become our customer and finally we get credit.

So let's keep working on our millionaires mindset, and get credit for our work.

This discussion with you Thabo helps me a lot to let this mindset sink into my subconscious.

I better go on writing the Wealth File series then! Soon you have read all of them I have written until now.
:-)

Hi Pernilla,
I also enjoy our discussions. Nice work!

It is never too late to think like a Millionaire, just learn how :)

Carol, so true!

Hi Pernilla,
A very thoughtful and well presented series and wonderful insight to our businesses. How often we are so timid, that who would want to purchase the product/service if we present it so limply. This has woken me up too. Thanks for your sharing

Dear Bill & Sue!
I'm very happy about recieving your comment.

Reading this book is like a wake-up-call for me. I have recognized how important it is to have the right mindset, to have a positive mind and selfconfidence, which is essential if we want to be successful in whatever we do.

May your business prosper!
:-)

Good afternoon Pernilla.

We should always have an open mind like that we learn and evolve. Life is taking us on a trip like our personal evolution. It gets critical when we close up so we do not advance anymore. Yes, we should learn to think well of ourselves as to give a confident impression so we can promote anything.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

How nice to hear your opinion Taetske!

That's it, believe in yourself and what you are doing that brings the confidence, which is needed for building up trust towards our customers/audience.

Greetings from the North of Switzerland,
:-)

Thanks.

My pleasure, John!

May your business prosper!
:-)

Passion can offset a bad experience in promotion if well presented!

How true!
Passion helps us overcome many obstacles!

Many thanks Mike for your great input!
