500 visits in 18 day!
Yeah, I am as surprised as you are. I've been putting a TON of work into my website and I only have 18 posts up.
How did I get 500 visits in 18 days?
Well, it's pretty simple: I put a link to one of my articles on Reddit and within hours almost 400 people came to visit the page. I was shocked and stunned! I refreshed Analytics about 20 times thinking it was a mistake, but it wasn't.
My site went up on 10/27/13

I'm sure it had to do something with the keyword I used in the post ... it must have sparked the interest of a lot of people during a short amount of time. The keyword, according to Jaxxy, had 2 million searches per month and a QSR of 191.
I didn't make any money off of these people, but I still feel this is a success story and milestone for me: 500 visits!

I can read what you´re saying, I just now made same thing with Reddit, and 1 minute later I had 2-3 persons in there in reality I was looking at google analytics, :)

Hi Pat - I don't know anything about Reddit - but could I suggest this may make an excellent article for more info in your blog??? How you made your site, how you promoted it on Reddit etc - is something that would be of great interest to a lot of people here!
Well done on your success... visitors are the only people that will build your business - so you've done fantastic to get so many... next step is finding out why they have not helped earn you money - are they not clicking on your affiliate links, are they not visible enough etc?

Mark thanks for your reply. Reddit considers itself as a site that compiles the best of the web, based off of user submissions. They get a huge amount of traffic, and all posting are rated and tracked on popularity scales. I'm pretty new to Reddit myself.
Anyways, what do you mean about an article on my blog? Simply write an article that describes the usefulness of my blog? That's actually a good idea, now that I think about it.
A very small percentage of people actually click on links in my website. Most people just come, read a little, and leave. I think I need to work on engaging the readers more--making them more interested.
