Hey Josh, that sounds good. There are a lot of tee opportunities floating around these days like "teespring" where you don't need initial cost to startup( leaving the advertising part). Be sure to check out teespring.com website.

Reply

Ya it works. Thanks Jorge and if you have any idea for the name of my domain(related to solar panels for houses) please do share with me. As of now I'm with the name "solarfossil.com".

Maybe solarpan?
Reply

Not so cool, and should each word be related to my niche? any benefits with that. I thought solar panels and fossil fuels go together.

Hi Alan, I just saw your discussion on G+, really amazing how G+ helped you. I gotta start posting on G+. My post for some reason ranks well with double quotes, but not with general search.
Reply
Alan Hocking Premium
The reason your post ranks higher with double quotes is because when you search with the keyword/phrase in quotes Google is only returning search results that have the exact phrase that you have put in quotes.

When you remove the quotes Google will also include variations of all the keywords/phrase into the search results that it thinks are relevant as well.

As you continue adding more posts with other keywords that are all relevant to your niche you will find your whole site will climb up the ranking in general search as well.

That's why when you are trying to get a new site to rank it is really important to focus on very low competition keywords to start with and then you can look for more broader keywords later when you have some traffic.

Sharing your posts on G+ will also help to get them indexed quicker.

Hi Ryan, I love your website, the orientation and placing of widgets. Can I know the way to place amazon widgets to the right, and getting the right side bar to look like yours.
Reply
ramccracken Premium
Some of it is the theme you use. which site are you referring to?

a lot of themes support a right side widget area. you can specifically search for that in the wordpress themes. I have to go to bed but feel free to pm me and I will get back with you tomorrow night and help you. I use the text widget to place all of my ads and Amazon widgets.

You can use all kind of code in the text widget and it will display multiple things

Hi Rob ;-)

Greg here, I have just been looking at your website...it's looking great already.

I would suggest you start to add some imagery, it is easier on the eye and will give your site visitors some idea of the things you're talking about!

I would add some images of actual solar panels and such.

I generally use istock photo's for my images, they're quite inexpensive, but there are other places to get some really good visuals from.

BIS lists some of the best place to get images here:

All the best

Your friend Rob!

Hi Rob, I tried few images, but the resolutions pose me a problem, Either they are too big or too small. Is there a way I can find the exact pixel size of the frame(post thumbnail/slider width) of my website .
Reply
GregRobs Premium
Yes... take a look at: http://www.ehow.com/how_6539766_calculate-pixel-size.html

ok, so what I've been doing is buying the smallest size from istock, adding them to my page/post and then if, while editing the post - after the image is added - you click the image you will see - top left of the pic - an image and a no entry (delete) sign. Click the image to edit it... a new window opens and you can then reduce the size by %, I usually find 70% fits my page nicely!

Hope this helps

Greg

Cool, Thanks, seems like you got me a big work to be done tomorrow, many thanks for viewing my website:). Anyway the ranking of my page went from 28 to 29 cool isn't it?lol. Any particular reason?
Reply
GregRobs Premium
Could be several things, other people getting ahead of you with more targeted seo, not posting content regularly enough etc.

Make sure when you add images to add your keyword in the alt text (alternative text) box, this will also help with ranking...this can be done on the same pop up window when you're editing the image size.

Dont worry to much about rankings my friend, it will drive you insane and make you spend far too much time on the site....

Hi Mike, when I search using WA keyword for a keyword, I get keywords approx with 4000 traffic, and 20 competing pages, but these results are for keywords with double quoted keyword I mentioned, e.g "solar panel", so I actually rank first in good number of double quoted keywords, but not in general search of solar panels.

Ok a few points...
1/ clean up your menus a bit, you have one on the top and another sidebar menu on the left thats the same, too busy. get rid of your sidebar menu.

2/ Can you move the privacy policy down onto a footer menu with the archives. Dont need privacy policy up on main menu.

3/ Why do you have a SI CAPTCHA comment box, are you having trouble with spam. Your ASKIMET plug in should be all you need. Dont give your customers another hurdle to leave a comment.

4/ I would rename your 'blog' page articles, a lot of people dont know what blog is and you have them listed under 'articles' on your side bar.

Otherwise its good, clean and to the point, are you only selling WA on this site, no products, no affiliates to do with solar......

Good job

Wow, thanks Mike, seems like you read my website from a to z. I'm gonna set-up the affiliate links today :) and about the sidebar, is there any way I can make few of my main posts which have sub categories(as drop down list) appear there, for example clicking solar incentives drops Renewable Heat Incentive and Feed-in Tariff.
Reply
MikeyB Premium
yes, in your menus page find the menu you set up for your sidebar, you will see your pages listed. Drag the page you want to be under your header slightly to the right.
IE - set up your main heading page as 'parent' and slide in all the pages you want to come under the drop downs...does that make sense

It looks like you're moving along very nicely! I see you have your profile all setup and hopefully you've been engaging with the community a bit!

I'd love to get to know you and your income goals better so that I can do my best to set you up for success. Would you mind taking a minute to chime in and share here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/getting-started/what-are-your-money-goals

I keep a pretty close watch on that thread (and so do the co-founders of Wealthy Affiliate, Kyle and Carson), so posting your income goals there will give us a much better idea of what we can do to help you!

And of course, let me know if there's anything I can help you with :)

Hi There and Welcome to WA!

As you are just new to the community I'd like to take this opportunity to say hello and let you know that I am here to help you get started.

I've helped 1000's of people over the years build thriving online businesses and the Wealthy Affiliate platform will provide you the tools and training to succeed as well.

Kyle, myself, and many other very helpful people hang out at WA and are always willing to lend a hand.

If you have any questions I suggest using the Live chat as you will get answers very quickly. Or you can ask questions within tutorials, blogs, or directly to other members on their Spaces.

Here is the initial training that I suggest you get started with:

I look forward to working with you.

Hey there! I wanted to start you off with a note that could significantly impact your success with Wealthy Affiliate. Read this entire message if you are serious about being successful in internet marketing (it's lengthy, but I'm not joking when I say that this advice could make or break your entire internet marketing career).

I've put together a video to help ensure you get the most out of your free membership: http://youtu.be/NDmMcMtMB8c

This video will take less than 8 minutes to watch and should COMPLETELY change the experience you have here at Wealthy Affiliate. Give the video a chance and you'll know within 8 minutes what could take hours or days to pickup exploring the members' area on your own.

I've also typed up a few pieces of advice that I think will help you get the most of your time here:

1) You'll need to work consistently and hard. There's going to be a lot to learn in the beginning and you may feel overwhelmed at a point, but keep pressing forward and you'll make it through. It happened to me and every other successful internet marketer at some point, and the only way to become successful in this industry is to push past that overload whenever you get there.

Do yourself a favor and commit to a number of hours that you can work each week right now. It doesn't have to be massive, but it should be more than 10 between evenings and weekends at least. Just remember the more you work each week, the faster you'll learn and draw closer to success.

After you've picked the number of hours you can work each week, commit to working that much for AT LEAST six months - a year would be better. You won't see results immediately in this industry, and being consistent is the key. Pick a number of hours you can work each week, then work those hours for at least six months. It's something you've probably never done in this industry, and this advice alone will make a HUGE difference in your chances at succeeding with internet marketing as long as you take it seriously and STICK WITH IT.

2) I recommend starting off with this training (which you can access with your free account): https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/online-entrepreneur-certification-getting-started-level-1

It just scratches the surface of the MASSIVE amount of helpful content in WA, but you'll get a good "feel" for the teaching style here and begin to see the power of all of the great things they're teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate.

3) DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE COMMUNITY. Two of the best places you can go to for help when you get stuck are the "Live Chat" and the "Forum" sections located on the panel to your left. You'll find direction and inspiration through the community here, which is one of the reasons I recommend WA so highly.

4) Finally, you don't ever have to upgrade to the premium account here at Wealthy Affiliate if you don't want to. You'll have limited access using your free account for as long as you wish. However, if you're serious about affiliate marketing and you see value in the Wealthy Affiliate membership within the first seven days, then you should invest in the premium membership for at least one month.

You could look back on it years from now and see it as a pivotal moment in your internet marketing career, but you never will if you don't at least give it a try (you'll only pay $19 for your first month as opposed to $47 if you upgrade within the first seven days). I keep my membership active and recurring every month so that I can be here for the people I refer like you, so realize that I'm putting my money where my mouth is here!

Best of luck to you! You're about to embark on a journey that could change your life forever, so make sure you take it seriously, put in the time and effort, and expect great things in return!

You know where to find me,
Ian Pribyl
