Did You Know Google Tells You The Keywords You Should Try To Rank For?

I just thought I would stop by and give a brief tutorial on what I have recently learned.
When I first started writing blogs I would tell google what I wanted them to rank me for, but I have come to find out that google actually tells you the keywords that you are already ranking for.
So I have come to look at it like fishing. If I am fishing for catfish there is a certain type of bait they attract them, if I am fishing for trout there is a certain type of bait that attracts them. I can't tell the catfish what to crave and I can't tall the trout what to crave, it comes from their appetite.
Well what I have learned is instead of me trying to tell google what I would like them to rank me for, find out what keywords google is already ranking me for and start optimizing my post around those keywords.
You will need to have google search console installed for your website and once you have installed and verified your account give it about 3 to 5 days to start giving you results

OK now that you have Google Search Console installed I would like to show you how Google tells you the keywords you are already ranking for.
Here is an example of Google Search Console telling me what I am already ranking for.
As you can see my site is already ranking for keywords such as:
Once I find the keyword that I am already ranking for, I should optimize my blog title, meta title and meta description that would be attractive for someone that is searching that keyword.
Example: If I am ranking for the keyword " Wealthy Affiliate" My Blog Title, Meta Title and Meta Description should be attractive for someone searching that keyword.
- My Blog Title can be something like: " Wealthy Affiliate Is It A Scam or Is It Legit? "
- My Meta Title can be similar to my blog title " Wealthy Affiliate Is It A Scam or Is It Legit ? Find Out " - Remember your Meta Title should be limited to 60 characters.
- My Meta Description can be something like: " So You Are Looking To Make Money Online & You Heard Of Wealthy Affiliate. Now You Are Wondering If It is A Scam. Find In My Honest Wealthy Affiliate Review " - Remember your Meta Description should be limited to 160 characters.
Once you optimize your Meta Title and Meta Description that will attract those searching for that keyword to click on it, google will see that people are liking your listing and start giving you a little big of google juice. lol

Sorry I am not seeing ranking in the search console screenshot. What am I not understanding?
I didn't cover the exact ranking position in the blog, but if you would like to see where you are ranking in google for that keyword just click where it says average position at the top right.
I have attached a screenshot for you.

Great post. Thanks, I always say keywords are key. Lol. I have never needed them for a blog and is nice to know that your information is available. And that there is another way. To track keywords. Super important. Great tool and info.

No problem thanks for the knowledge. It's the real key and now I have more knowledge for Keywords as I'm sure you know because you made the excellent Blog for us. And how I always say keywords are Key they are one of the most important parts of having success as well as one of the hardest parts defiantly until you have a good understanding of them.
It's amazing that they have Jaaxy here for us too.
And I myself usually use two to three keyword search apps at once. More tools are always better to make the job easier. And just using the tools is how we get the practice and the knowledge to understand them.
As I mentioned I don't do blog websites, and I can't say for 100 % certainty. But will check it out should work to with a static home page and show the rankings of the keywords on the home page itself.

Hi Dave
I'm a web designer not a blogger and build websites like every website that's not a blog site. Usually storefront websites.
I had never even written a blog till I joined here about two weeks ago, now I have two. I won't promote them here on Dre's blog but will say they are great tools like what Dre has for us here.
And honestly haven't read many blogs till I joined WA didn't really know what I was missing out on. Defiantly glad I found this one and will be checking to see if it works with my static home pages for sure.
