Hi everyone,

How are you all doing?

I guess you could call this a little round-up on what’s been happening on Planet Partha.

Hopefully along the way I can cause a little controversy, have a few laughs, offer some ideas, and hopefully learn a thing or two from you as well.

FREE Money

I’ve had some very UN-Wealthy Affiliate thoughts of late.

In the main, I just cannot understand how patient some of you are. However, to throw in some controversy as well, I also think that some of us are potentially giving newcomers false hopes.

I tend to think of myself as an easy going guy. Someone who likes to help, to be nice, to be friendly, and I've gotta whole lotta love to give - this is me in “real life” and I hope this in some way carries over to how I handle myself at WA.

However, I also tend to have a short fuse, and I can get annoyed quite easily (very UN-Wealthy Affiliate-like behaviour I’m sure you’ll agree).

I like to venture over once in a while to the OEC comments to see if there’s anything I can answer or help with, but more often than not, I find myself getting frustrated at some of the questions that are repeatedly asked.

I note some of my more patient colleagues, peers, friends, call them what you will, are willing to get really in-depth, and offer more help that I believe some newcomers deserve.

I do also sometimes believe that we may fill certain newbies with false hopes.

It’s all well-and-good discussing the merits of WA and providing detailed answers, but often I can tell (or maybe I assume, and we are always taught to NEVER ASSUME - slap my hand) that someone just isn’t cut out for Wealthy Affiliate.

Yes, it is a fantastic platform, yes if you’re willing to work at it you will see results, and yes we have many successful members, past, present, and once again in the future.

BUT - I truly believe you have to be a certain type of person.

One such newbie came along a couple of weeks ago.

Now I have to admit he piqued my interest, and I actually found him to be a delight. I think more than anything he made me laugh, so I have a soft spot for him.

I just wish I could remember his username (and the WA member who initially helped him before I got involved).

Hi question was plain, simple and to the point - I LIKE.

“Where Do I Collect The Free Money?”

As always, I check the user’s profile, and low-and-behold he had joined that day.

After much patience on the part of the experienced WA member explaining the ins-and-outs of affiliate marketing, talking about the training materials, and how this is a learning platform.

Newbie dismissed this immediately and insisted he was told he could come here to collect his FREE money, and he wanted to know where.

Turns out the offer of FREE MEMBERSHIP had somehow become FREE MONEY in his mind.

I applaud anyone for helping, but (controversially) in my mind some people are beyond help.

Frustrations

I’ve kinda fallen out of love a little with my original website.

I have mentioned this previously and I’m slowly, but surely working on a new project, but my original, my first love, is never far from my thoughts.

It’s not that I’ve given up on this site, far from it.

It just doesn’t light me up, I don’t feel the passion.

I can write any number of articles on this subject, but I sometimes feel that it is slowly eating away at my soul, and often this makes me frustrated.

So, I decided to take a 10-day break from my original website.

However, in the “Fabulous Ideas” section coming up in a moment, I may have re-ignited that flame.

Flirtations

I’m just going to come right out and say it,

“WHEN DID TWITTER TURN INTO TINDER?”

I’ve never actually had a personal Twitter account before, always business-related.

So, I opened my first ever personal Twitter account 5 days ago.

I uploaded a nice photo of me, filled out my bio, threw a few hashtags in for good measure.

I followed people who interested me, mainly writers, bloggers, authors, affiliate marketers, and those into personal development.

I’ve made a few tweets, nothing spectacular, just ordinary everyday things that I’m doing.

I’ve got involved in conversations, retweeted some great stuff, had lots of fun, and I’m fast approaching 200 followers in just 5 days.

I note many of the girls have “Strictly No DMs” (Direct Messages) on their profiles, and being a man of the world, I can guess that my very own species, the male species are letting the side down.

Come on guys, ain’t no woman gonna be impressed by your chat.

However, what I wasn’t expecting was to receive Direct Messages myself.

I mean come on ladies, have a little respect.

I’ve had a young girl ask me for photos. Now I’m no prude, but I stupidly got involved in a conversation and wasn’t entirely sure of her meaning.

Her return photo of herself left me in no doubt.

I have another “lady” who sends me messages almost daily now (I really should learn not to reply, but I was just being friendly).

Seems like a nice girl, but perhaps a little lonely.

Unfortunately, she's going to be even more lonely messaging a guy who lives on the other side of the Atlantic, has a partner and kids, and is probably old enough to be her dad (yes, I am FAR older than I probably look - damn baby face).

Anyway, I shall continue with my Twitter experiment for now, but I’m not entirely sure whether I’m going to get traffic or a date!

Fabulous Ideas

After a discussion with my WA friend, Mick, username Wozzy, he mentioned that perhaps I should hire a writer to keep my original site going. And I know that Jerry has recently provided some excellent training about hiring writers.

I had a little think about it over the weekend and then I thought to myself I could actually just keep one day a week aside to work on my original site.

So, I wrote out a to-do list yesterday, and my idea was to simply find some of the most common questions asked in my niche, not worry too much about keyword research for now and just write.

I mean, I have 80+ articles on the site targeting specific keywords, which includes a number of product reviews.

So, off I went to Google and spent some time researching “commonly asked questions”.

Also, if I find them on Google, this must mean that people are searching for answers to these questions.

I found 3 questions to get me started.

So, I set about this morning just answering the questions.

Turns out I’ve answered all 3 questions and managed to produce 3 articles (around 4,600 words, yes we’ve discussed my typing abilities before). I’ve found some great videos based around these questions to add to my articles, I’ve found scholarly articles to link to, and I can also link to my own previously written articles from them.

Basically, I’ve had a good day.

I’ve published one article today and have the other 2 set up to publish on Wednesday and Saturday.

That’s this week done for my original website, so I can concentrate on my new website for the rest of the week.

I also think I could happily do this on a regular basis.

However, my work for my original website didn’t end there.

I’ve read this fantastic blog post by our very own Nathaniel a few times now

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/nathaniell/blog/comments-post-updates-activity-really-works

And I thought, “What a great idea”.

So, I have a review article that gets a fair number of impressions, but isn’t ranking that high (on the 3rd page of Google).

I have changed a few things on the page, and added a few extra points.

My aim is to spend the next couple of weeks giving and receiving comments from WA members and all my “receiving comments” will be for this review article (I’m thinking 2- 4 comments a day for about 2 weeks), in the meantime I am looking at my internal links that point to this article, and there are definitely 50+ articles that could be linked to this article.

In addition, I recently discovered “CommentLuv”.

Firstly, I thought the only place I was getting any LUV was Twitter.

Secondly, how did I not know about this?

CommentLuv is a Wordpress plugin that invites others to comment on their posts.

You can actually perform a Google search to find websites in your niche that have the comment luv plugin.

Just type in your niche and comment luv in inverted commas

So, as you can see I have done this for “make money online”.

Then click on “Tools” to the right and you’ll get the options just below “ALL” of “Any time” and “All results”.

Simply click on “Any time” and you can find blogs which accept comments in the last day, the last week, the last month, the last year etc.

You can actually do this for every keyword you have targeted on your own website.

This is great for a number of reasons.

It’s a way to get RELEVANT niche backlinks to your own website

Plus if you find any blogs in the “last day” you may even get the coveted first comment spot. The comment that all visitors to the website will see FIRST.

You can also subscribe to the website RSS feed and you will be informed as soon as a new blog post is published.

Let’s use the “Make Money Online” as an example.

Just imagine if you leave a great, insightful FIRST comment on Neil Patel’s Blog or Brian Dean’s (Backlinko). You are probably going to get thousands and thousands of readers of these guys' blogs seeing you comment.

You leave a great comment, how many of these thousands of readers may click your name and get through to your website.

Okay, you’re not always going to get the first comment on someone’s blog, you may not even have very high traffic blogs to comment on in your niche, but that takes us back to relevant backlinks again.

It may help, if may not, but there's only one way to find out.

That’s All Folks

I’ve just realised I’m rambling on a bit now, but am happy to discuss any of these points from any comments I may or may not receive (plus there are no prizes for being the first person to comment on my WA blog).

Right, I’m off to get myself a date on Twitter, but will be back to speak to you soon.

Thank you for reading

Goodness me what a post, persuasive, positive Partha,

All those F word, alliterations.....😉

Newbies and patience.....& Free money, the man is barking.

Well done for channeling your diplomacy and subtlety on Twitter, who’d a thunk it? women coming on to you in a very unattractive and potentially compromising way.
I had another look at your photo and yes you do have something of a young (baby 😉face) which I have no doubt will send out certain (over the air ) virtual pheromones to those ladies with their blinking and winking “guy” antenna. Maybe change the photo to a box of face masks....👀

It was a really useful post, I always love reading your posts and the links to Nathaniel’s post thought I had read all of his...👍)

Hi Cordelia,

Always lovely to hear from you.

I think you've hit every point there, LOL.

It's all good now, Twitter seems to have calmed down and turned more into a "work thing", which is great.

And yes, I agree, I thought I had read everything written by Nathaniel, but I always seem to find new pearls of wisdom, which is always a good thing.

Partha

If honest money is easy to make, no one will be here probably.

Hi Anusuya,

I completely agree - if money was that easy to make we'd all be millionaires.

Partha

WOW. There's a lot to this blog. First, I have to admit I would have very little patience with someone looking for Free money. I mean I'd nicely explain to them what WA is about but if they don't want to hear it, well, I'd be done.

Twitter huh? Who knew it's really a Tinder but sounds like you might get more than you bargained for -- and NOT in a good way. Careful.

Nathaniel is always writing great blogs. He's a great one to follow. He always has interesting thoughts and ideas.

Well, I've never heard of CommentLuv. Interesting concept and worth checking out ---- as long as it's just "comment" luv and not the newly discovered Twitter kind. LOL

Thanks for all the information, Partha. Keep us posted on your successes.

~Debbi

Hi Debbi,

Great to hear from you.

Yes, I agree, I'm always willing to help, but there's only so much you can do.

I also totally agree about Nathaniel as well, what a great guy, and a constant source of fantastic information.

Amd also please do check out the other two things, just don't get you're "LUVs" mixed up between Twitter and Commenting.

Partha

A very enjoyable post, Partha! I haven't ventured into Twitter yet, and hopefully won't for a while. I have also given up looking for my free money!

Enjoy your week!

Jeff

Haha, good to hear from you Jeff.

I'm sure you'll love Twitter. Plus I'm with you, I gave up looking for free money years ago.

Partha

There is really no such thing, Partha!

Jeff

I agree with the Twitter thing being polite is I guess saying I want to date you lol great post and thanks for the information as well

Thank you Dorrie, always good to hear from you.
