Cleaning up My Act
Recently, I have been evaluating how I can set up my environment for success. Which means I needed to take a cold hard look at where I am vs where I want to be.
I noticed lately that I have been getting distracted pretty easily whether it be by Facebook, YouTube videos or even distracted with day to day life.
Have you ever sat down to work on your blog only to find yourself hopping to Facebook, YouTube and various websites on auto-pilot? What is sad regarding Facebook is I rarely see anything worthwhile. I just find myself doing the scroll. Perhaps you do this with Instagram or Pinterest.
Needless to say this is getting me no closer to my goal of 12k per month. Therefore, I needed to take some action and massive action at that.
Oh No She Didn't!
I removed Facebook from my quick launch after going through and deleting anyone I had not conversed / interacted with over the past year. How many people on your social media do you actually respect or care about? I kept people in my industry, people I know and people who inspire me. I went from 370 friends down to 99 and my feed is much less cluttered.
Furthermore, I deleted Instagram off my phone as I tend to spend way too much scrolling. In fact, I have caught myself picking up my phone and scrolling Instagram on auto-pilot without even realizing it.
Then over to YouTube I went and unsubscribed from all the channels that were not helping me grow. I already do not watch TV or have cable and I removed video games from my computer a long time ago. Admittedly deleting the games was difficult as I loved playing games like WOW, Gems of war and Tropico on rare occasion.
I have even had to limit what I focus on for work as I have 3 websites apart from my new one I launched here at WA. This is in addition to my Pinterest accounts which have a combined 1.7 million views per month. Inherently I know that I can not get far by having my attention so scattered.
Therefore, I had to make a decision on what I need to focus on to obtain my goals which means focusing on my Wealthy Affiliate training and website and managing my Pinterest accounts.
My other websites promote Amazon which makes small commissions but I really am passionate about WA and love the idea of focusing on higher paying digital items. Which is why I have decided to put my other websites on the back burner.
This will give me the time and space I need to put into Wealthy Affiliate and most importantly my income goals.
While these changes were big for me they were much-needed. Because the person who makes 12k a month is not who I see when I look in the mirror. Which means I have to become a better version of myself.
Having said that it feels great to clean up my life as it opens the door to new possibilities. What distractions are keeping you from achieving your full potential.

There’s certainly many distractions everywhere we look so good on you for having a clear out. I’m sure you’ll notice a spike in your productivity now 😀👍
Dave,
Even though I made the changes yesterday I already feel much more productive. Thank you for commenting!
Wow. I enjoyed your post.
There are things I have to change right away. Things that steal my time.
Thank you for sharing Pamela.
You are welcome and with time being in limited supply gotta make each heart beat count for something!
Good Morning Pamela,
That sounds like a thorough cleanup, well done.
I will do the same on my computer and will add FB. I post there regularly but most of these friends who were so eager to become my friends, in the beginning, are not active.
To give them likes and sometimes a little comment and never see them back is a waste of my time
When writing a post I try to stick to the same hour each day. Often it is not enough so I have to grab some time somewhere else.
It is not always easy to keep a good balance between real life and WA and I sometimes feel bad as I should be working more in my garden.
As I only write 1 WA post a month it often gets lost in the crowd. Lovely Christmas Star and concerns about Gravatar Greetings from the south of Spain,
Taetske
I found most of the people on my friends list on FB have nothing to do with my niche and over half them I have never interacted with. So I was glad to get rid of the dead weight. Like you I am , spending less time on social media and more time here.

I commend you for take the action you saw as a distraction. That takes courage and commitment. That's awesome. If you ever get a chance, Mel Robbins has a short video on Youtube called the five second rule. It talks about what you are going through when we tend to wander way from what we should be doing.
Here is the link, there are others https://bit.ly/2qwc97e
