Having problem with Google analytics on my website. Constant message saying "google analytics is not active". I am sent to "Google analytics for wordpress configuration page; then

Have got a Google+ account yet?

Jen090--Sorry to get back to you this late; No, I have not got a google + account yet--will plan on joining in near future.

In case anyone is wondering,-yes, google analytics was supposedly installed previously, with the all-in-one SEO plugin.

I just went to my website currently under construction, and discovered that some links had been created on what few pages I already have--some that have nothing to do with my niche

sorry, I saw your question the first time. I just do not have a clue how and why that happened.
Rich

Thanks, Rich--Rizzer is actually helping me out in detail--he's having me PM' ing him. That's why you are not seeing any responses on this page. Thank you so much for responding to my question, though!

A link to the problem website would be a great help, if you don't want to list it you are welcome to PM it to me.

Sorry I can't help you Norland. Hope you find out.

I posted this problem again, because it has not been resolved. I have to go to bed now, however. Could I get some more suggestions, because I will view them after I can get some more shuteye.
Andy--I don't get what you want me to do with the YARRP plugin comment.

Giludi, sorry I'm getting back to you so late, extreme sleep deprivation caused me to take a rather long nap.The links I first noticed in my pages content, and then took a more close look, and noticed they are also in the comments. The thing is, they don't seem to visually appear, until you linger on a page for maybe 15 seconds or so.

Are links only in comments?

Hi, Andy--The theme is wordpress "catch evolution". This links invasion just started happening today-and I've also noticed that these links have been deposited in many posts/comments from people visiting my website.

There is a plug in called YARRP- yet another related posts plug in, which links to internal posts the titles of which are found in the body content of any new post/page...however I have not heard of spontaneous external linking..

You might have a rogue theme- that is the most likely explanation off the top of my head- without considerably more info to go on- some themes are far from benign..

What theme is it?

Best wishes, Andy

Wow, I do not know how that could happen but I am following this discussion to learn how this happens and how to resolve it. Thank you for posting

What's the best approach to this website problem: Even though I'm in just the first stages of building my website, I just (Sunday) realized that not only is my incomplete site visi

Thank you everyone, for taking the time to help me with my problem. You are much appreciated!

My one is also a shell which I have not fixed up yet in two months so I am in the same boat.

Don't worry, there are a trillion other websites out there your is just one among them all. Just get the content on that you want and Google will re crawl your site again and again as long as you keep posting content on your site, I used to worry about all that stuff but quite frankly no one will ever notice, the web is so large and there is every kind of website out there.
One tip is before you build a site plan out the content you want to put on it before you start building a site
I use an excel spread sheet and put the keywords in columns then plan out the content once this is done, I then get the content written then build the site, preparation is the key to all things it seems

Great guidance below. I also did that early on....

Thanks again for your ongoing input, Andy. I am taking all suggestions under consideration, and will probably think on it after I've had some sleep, to make a more clear-headed decision.

There's is one simple way to do it: Create a Under Construction page (full width size), set it as a static page and create a new menu with no pages on it. So the visitor only see this page. For the WA community you can always give them the exact link to a page or post you want to submit for comments. And the day you are ready to go online for everyone, delete the Under construction page and set a new landing page.

Thank you, Guy, for responding so quickly. I have been busy composing content for another one of my pages, that is why I am looking at everyone's responses so late. What you describe might seem simple to you but it comes across as rather complicated to me at this time, maybe because it's 8am and I haven't been to bed yet. I'd Better sleep on it. Not sure what you mean by a full width size static page.

Have a good sleep. When you're ready to act here's the way to do it
1. Create a new page . Title: This site is still under construction or something similar.
2. Choose on the right sidebar > templates > full width no sidebar
3. Save your page
4. Go to Settings > Reading
Set your landing page on "A static page" and choose your "under construction page as home (landing) page
5. Go to Appearance > Menu
Create a new menu with only your Under Construction page
Select this menu as Main Menu.
That's all. When a visitor comes to your Home (landing) page, he will see only your Under Construction page.
If a visitor come through Google to a page that is indexed, he cannot surf to another page. The advantage that all your finished pages are still crawled by google. When you think to go online with the whole website, just create a new menu and select a new homepage (static page or latest posts page)

not a massive problem, there are 3 options among others:

Keep it visible to search engines if it is...Settings/reading/check box at bottom or make it invisible if you prefer- not recommended...IMO
Exclude pages from navigation by removing them from the menu- don't forget to save changes...appearance/menus/click on page/click on remove
Add pages and content consistently by working out a plan to do just this, you can always edit them once they are up but get them in a usable form before publishing..

Relax about WA people, we have all been there, or will be!!

If any one does find you and are disappointed, and don't come back, it won't be many- so just crack on with fleshing your site out...

That is my ten cents worth- good luck, Andy

What does "IMO" stand for? Thank you for your response, by the way. I'm not sure what you meant when you said "settings/reading/check box--did you mean to continue to keep it visible to search engines I should make one of these selections? My site is obviously visible to some search engines if I could google it so easily. But it is listed as wholebodyvibrationexercisebenefits, and I'm not sure why 'exercise' was put in there,

IMO= in my opinion...
settings/reading are the navigation steps to get to what I am describing...

If you are able to add content regularly and consistently I think (IMO again!) that you should leave things as they are and simply add pages and posts naturally...

or just do as per what Guy is suggesting...

Thanks Andy

Could you guys critique what little I have so far on my website? Link is in my profile.

Love your header image as it fits your site perfectly. Looking forward to when you have added more content.
Rich

A very Zen approach that I do like. On your home page you should explain the benefits the visitors get. I think you are on the right way. Continue.

bit of a slog to find it- here it is----http://wholebodyvibrationbenefits.com/
a good clean start- work out what the main benefit is, and that is your tag line, set categories up according to key words and add content and you will be rocking- good start, Andy
