WordPress 3.9
What is your fave feature in WP 3.9?
Just watched the Smith 3.9 intro video to the update: wsywig just got way better in relation to inserting pics and more-
- Drag and drop insertion straight into the VE- wowzer!
- Creating magazine style layouts looks to be a cinch now too
- Make Playlists of vids and audio...how cool is that if you are a band or media led site?
- Mess with widgets in a good way...
- Ditto headers
- Theme browsers
- Preview on all features and changes...
This is the best advance I have seen for non coders in the last 12 months, for sure...
whilst there will still be lots of learning elements and nothing works perfectly all of the time "out of the box" this seems just great- what say you?

I haven't had chance to watch the video but what's VE? You could drag and drop media before 3.9 so I'm a little confused.
To be honest I get a bit nervous with all these constant updates in case something breaks, my theme isn't compatible or the plug ins haven't been updated and no longer work.
Not so bad on a small site but if you have a large site and use a plug in that features on virtually every page you have big problems and possibly hours more work if it fails. It hasn't happened to me yet but I wonder if it's a case of when rather than if.
apols- VE is the visual editor (the standard interface, with the text/code option.
Re plugins, it might be feasible to check the plug in site and see if they update it- they post version updates there if they are maintaining it...
With the plugins I always assumed that you were notified via the WP dashboard anyway, recent theme/slider issues excepted.
I just think it's annoying to have to keep updating everything. I'm not a fan of auto-updates and 3.9 is the third update to have to install in just over 2 weeks.
plug in creators not only post version amendments but there is sometimes some dialogue about coming soons, so to speak, just a thought- you evidently have strong reasons for caution!
Well generally I usually wait a little while until the plug in authors have caught up with the WP authors. seems every time I log in though, which is most days, there is something else to update.
Updated two sites yesterday and checked if everything 'old' is working - it does. Didn't check new stuff yet,
With new drag & drop feature it is maybe finally time to get rid of gallery plugins and start using Wordpress media library :)
super-smooth looking, I am thinking to format images with standard borders and then we have a pin-board set up...gonna give that one a go on another site
Pretty impressed with this update. Most times, you can't tell much difference from the previous version. This time around, they've really up the anty when it comes to media. Nice move forward!
Didn't know about the image drag and drop feature but just gave it a blast and got to say that's probably one of the best improvements Ive seen in the wordpress interface for a while.
yay, and just realizing that I am now 50% geek as I am super-excited...oh my lord what has become of me...

I don't know if I've told you before Andy. But here it is.
I HATE WORDPRESS
I don't use it I don't want to use it
If not wordpress then what? Are you happy to write your own html?
I would like to think that I am platform agnostic, I have used Joomla and got great SEO results, ditto HTML 5, however, WP seems to be getting more and more user friendly..however slavish adherence to what we know is usually not a good thing...so point well made..
No I have used WEEBLY for five years and "I LUV IT"
Drop & Drag is the way to go !!
But that's my personal choice
darn, now I have to check weebly out in more detail..I use Headway Themes, which is drag and drop for WP, so I might sneakily have the best of both worlds?
I'm not saying it is for everyone. But for a free blog site builder it works pretty well.
@Andy I wanna know what you think of Weebly!
