too perfect
Hello!
Building up the pages of my website it´s quite a challenge for me to just write things down at the moment, and leave it as it is for the first time. Although I know that I can change the content later on, and adjust, improve, develop... it has to be perfect from the first moment on.
The fear of making mistakes keeps the door to the pool of creativity closed. And it is hard for me to keep distanced analysis and reflection on the whole thing.
Do you have any ideas for a positive approach? How do you develop your pages?
Thank you
Nik

Sometimes you have to accept and go like Rosie says. I know I can always find a little I would like to change every time. When we have to generate so much content for our sites we can't get bogged down in rewrites indefinitely. Publish and go on. Come back when time allows and touch up is my plan for developing pages. I try to remember the optimal word is developing pages. They should change over time.
Thank you Rayma! This is what I do at the moment. But I´ll try googledocs also. Thank you all, I´ll find my way and it´s great how many ways there are to create wonderful pages and posts.
Haha...BrooklynPhil strikes again! He is amazing, isn't he? Try not to be so hard on yourself....we all would like everything to be 'perfect' when we do it....sometimes we even believe it to be 'perfect'...and then we find out how the general public sees it....can be very eye-opening at times....Phil gives an excellent and very workable option....
My attitude is that we learn as go along. I have changed my theme 3 times in 2 weeks. Rewrite and edit articles after our WA community give some constructive feedback. Not all of us can write. I don't think you shld wait until it's perfect - do we even know what is perfect? This community is really great and helpful.
I hand write, topics, subjects and thoughts in a spiral notebook. I take my notes and start writing in Google Docs. I do my keyword searches and research and go back and flesh out the article. I do my image searches, and when I think the article is ready I take it into WP and see how it looks.
I have articles in various stages of completion. Some take more than others. I wish I was more prolific, but balancing, life, work, WA lessons and blogs, is a lot of plates for me to keep spinning at any given time. I do the best I can.
I'm not a perfectionist, I want the spelling to be correct and the grammar to at least sound conversational. I write like I speak. I enjoy sharing with people and I want them to enjoy and learn something from taking the time to read my articles.
I learn and get better from every article I write.
Thank you Phil, there is a lot I can Take with me. Can you import the google doc file into Wp.?
I Copy & Paste.
But, before I do that I use Mac > System Preferences > Text to Speech and I have Samantha (in a slow sexy voice) read my article to me. She helps me catch any spelling errors and helps me hear how it sounds. It helps.
(did I mention she has a very sexy voice?) ;^)
I used to be the same way! Now, first I do my research on the content I want to write. Then I make a rough outline, drafting out the order in which I want to present the content. Then I just relax and recognize I am going to rewrite the article at least three times maybe more before I am happy with it. And I just start with the first draft. I have found that by doing it in this relaxed manner, as you say, the creativity flows better. And after I write the first draft and sometimes even during the writhing, I will begin to have new thoughts and ideas and I make notes and scribble things in between the lines and in the margin. Then I begin the second draft including my notes in the first draft, etc.
I don't know if this helps at all! Christa
Yes, Christa, its obvious, that knowing I'll do rewriting helps to become relaxed. Research is New to me, but shurely important :-)
Thanx!

Well for me Nik, if I get an idea for content and don't at least tik it down somewhere, like right now, it will be gone. I hate that.
I started using Microsoft Notepad on my task bar to "quick post" any small bit of info passin' through my 3 celled brain at the moment and save it for later. I was amazed how much stuff I put down there that actually sounded, "ok" when I looked later. Just a thought.
As far as the perfection thing goes I'm the same way. I don't want to publish anything until it has a pretty bow on it but I'm really close to doing so and there's no better sounding board than your bud's here so let her rip.
