I want to cancel my Bluehost hosting services and move my Wordpress domain and website contents to Wealthy Affiliate's hosting. What steps should I take? I read a recent post s

You may transfer or point to WA servers (if transferring domain has to end in .com, .net or .org.

To update your domain DNS settings to point to WA. Here are the DNS settings.

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

These settings will be updated within your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) after the transfer has taken place. To transfer your domain here, you need to log in to the current registrar and fetch the EPP code; there's a one-year charge of $16.99, privacy included. One year more will get added to your domain.

Also, it has to have passed the grace period of 60 days.

If your site has content, you need to contact site support for further instructions.

They will typically ask you for FTP info and your domain name; they'll set up a siterubix subdomain and upload files. Then, you can check everything is okay before you point your domain to WA servers.

Hi Abie, thank you for the video links and the detailed steps to follow! It seems kinda daunting at the moment, as my Bluehost services are expiring soon (domain name is purchased there too) and I want to get done with the transfer to WA soon in order not to lose my website (I am not paying Bluehost for another year, and I should have done this earlier since I'm a WA member for so long!)

Transfers can take up to seven days from initiation time, and depending on registrars, some may let you process the transfer much sooner by accepting something on their website. I don't know if that applies to bluehost.

Abie

I’m assuming a website transfer will need to be from WordPress to WordPress and this is NOT going to work from a WIX website to a WordPress website.

Is my assumption, correct?

Hi Brad, yes the website I want to migrate to WA is a WordPress site, hosted at Bluehost at the moment... I guess I have to follow the recommendations above and create a temporary siterubix site as a placeholder here, so that I can open a new ticket with SiteSupport.

Hi Robert, thank you for following me back! Actually the "recent post" I mentioned in my question was yours :) Very informative and helpful, thanks!
I am just stuck on how to open the new ticket at SiteSupport, since my request doesn't have to do with my existing sites in WA... so when I clicked "No" on the prompt, I got directed to "Ask a Question" instead - and here I am :)

if you create a siterubix site and go through that to ask them to help you migrate your site ....
they removed the 'not listed' option for support as everything was being passed through to them rather than just anything website related....

I would follow @feigner's recommendation in creating a siterubix site as a placeholder so there is at least something to refer to. I'll have to update that article in that scenario. Thank yoU!

frustrating that they removed the 'not listed' but as seen in another thread today anything and everything was being sent to them and they are only there for website support....
would be useful for another general support thread or email address....

Hello guys and girls, I have been noticing something lately. When I share on Social Media the link of a post I wrote on my website, people comment on the Social Media post inst

I have that happen many times. Some people just don't know how are where to leave it. They rather leave it the most easiest way.

Hi Louisa, yes that's true, and they don't know that leaving comments on the website itself will help us with ranking, since comments add to the website's content!

As I'm not that big on social media yet I would have never thought that this is a problem. Armlemt seems to have the right idea though, and I'll be checking out the training that she's suggesting. Good luck!

In the description of the article that you leave on your Facebook page, you can always say something like, "Kindly leave your comments about this article on the website." Also, a stronger CTA to leave comments at the end of your article would help as well. I always ask readers to "Continue the conversation about (subject) in the comments below."

Bo Tipton (botipton) has a great training going on where he talks about how to make your CTAs really stand out. It's the Gogetter's training. You can start the training at any time. He asks that you continue your Certification or Bootcamp training while doing his. It's really great training to complement the training you are already doing.

People on social media don't understand that comments add to the content. I hope this helps.

Anita

Hi Anita, thank you for the helpful suggestions!

I'm going to do that from now on - ask them on Facebook's post to comment directly on my website. And strengthen up the CTA at the end of the blog post as well.

I've been meaning to start watching Bo's training videos for quite some time now. Glad to know he covers the CTA subject as well!

Have a great weekend :)

You're welcome! If you are going to start working on your CTAs, then you should watch Bo's training. It is the first subject he covers. I started a week ago and I am already over halfway through.

Hello Nicky!

Interesting observation. I'm afraid I can't help you. I'm still not very active on social media.

The plugin is a good solution (didn't know about that), but it is not of advantage for the site speed.

I suppose you have to be patient and the more you post, the more intrigued the people will be and come and visit your website in the end.

Wish you a huge and steady flow of website users!!!
:-)

Hi Pernilla, thanks for commenting!

Yes, the site speed is the reason I'm hesitant to install the relevant plugin. I guess you're right, posting more frequently will attract more organic traffic and then people would find the website directly and not through the post's link on Social Media. So I would have more comments on my actual blog post.

Thank you and I wish the same to you!! Enjoy your weekend :)

Hi, Nikoletta.

I don't think that there is much you can do. In my own experience, people comment on the few teasing lines and they don't even go to my post.

Other than asking them to comment on your website or the plugin, I haven't got an answer for you.

Sorry.
Hennie

Hi Hennie,

thanks for commenting! Anita's suggestion to ask them in the description of the social media post is great, I'll follow that since I don't want to encumber the site speed with another plugin.

But I have experienced that too and it's frustrating - when people just comment on the teasing lines of the post and not even click the link, let alone read the post!

So in the social media post, I try to hint at something that they'll discover only by reading the blog post.

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

I have read her comment, Nikoletta and I agree. Hopefully, it will work. Let's try it and see.
Very busy weekend so far, but it is great. Thanks

Hello Nicky, thank you for your interesting question, personally, I would be inclined to install the plug-in, although I do hear your question! I would be interested to hear what other people say about your question, so I will follow this thread.

Incidentally, how is Greece? My wife comes from near Thessaloniki, so we are very privileged to be able to visit fairly frequently, it's only a 3-hour flight from the UK, which is great.

Enjoy your weekend.

Roy

Thanks for commenting, Roy!

I like Anita's suggestion, that in the description of the article I could ask people to leave their comments on my website.

Thessaloniki is my hometown by the way! I was back for the summer/autumn and I loved it, I hadn't visited for a long time. Glad you have the chance to enjoy Greece so often, and to be so close to Halkidiki in the summer :)

Hope you're enjoying your weekend too.

Good morning Nicky,

As you mentioned Anita's idea sounds like a good idea, definitely worth a try.

It's a small world sometimes, it's interesting that you come from Thessaloniki, I really enjoy being able to go to Greece regularly! We have been down to the first finger of Halkidiki several times, but we would like to try the second finger very soon. Fortunately, my wife's family live outside the city on the Halkidiki side, which is great. I really enjoy getting up early and sitting on the patio and looking across the fields and to the sea before the heat of the day comes, it's a great place to read a good book and probably to work online!

Enjoy your day.

Roy
