The AHA moments

I tried the suggestions but nothing worked. The problem still remained:
In my blog roll on my Home page, the 2 published posts had random-sized thumbnails as featured images. One image was just too big, so it appeared cropped above its corresponding excerpt. And it had a rectangle shape, next to the appealing square shape of my original post.
I went to my Media on the WordPress dashboard, clicked on the image to edit it, and changed the dimensions to make it smaller. Still, nothing worked. I spent another hour doing a Google search about my WordPress Theme and customizing featured images, and somehow the AHA moment occurred!

I would go to the original image on my computer, edit the image with Paint, scale it to 350 x 350 and save it as a .png file on my computer. Then I would upload it again in Media Library in WordPress and set it as the new featured image.
It still didn't work! And it's amazing how easily the brain wants to throw in the towel and call it quits!
During that moment of utmost frustration, I went back to my dashboard and as I was staring at my post... I see the "Update" button.
Duh! I had forgotten to Update the post. And lo and behold, after updating and visiting my home page, I was looking at my 2 post excerpts having the same size of featured image. Beautiful symmetry achieved.
As a conclusion, changing the dimensions on the image wasn't solving my issue. I needed to change the Pixel dimensions.
Don't give up easily, technical issues can always be solved!
(And imagine, Microsoft was about to withdraw Paint from Windows but it turned out to be so useful to me. Also using it for taking screenshots quickly. Yay for Paint!)
