Video Game Niche Example: Fighting Games
It's always tough for me to break down the video game industry into niches because I don't play them. However, I know that there is definitely a ton of money to be made in this growing industry.

The truth is, whenever someone asked me if they could do a website about one style of video games, I didn't know how to answer. Could such a website be successful? Yeah, ANY website can make money. Would I make a website like that? No. I'd run out of ideas real fast.
Well, I found a great example. Here's a website just about fighting games: http://shoryuken.com/
It probably gets about 50,000 - 100,000 visits per day. INSANE!
Can you imagine how cool it would be to write daily about things like Street Fighter tournaments and Pokémon character stats?
It just goes to show you that yes, ANY niche can be a successful business.

My website deals with a part of the overall video game niche. I specifically target open world games such as the Grand Theft Auto series, Need For Speed, Watch Dogs, etc. I don't get anywhere near the traffic that website you linked to does, but my traffic is slowly, but surely going up.
I thought I would run out of ideas too, but setting up Google Alerts has helped me and talking about awesome upcoming open world games as helped as well.

It's a niche worth pursuing Nathaniel. Even as we correspond my 16 year old grandsons is sitting 4 feet away from me using virtual heavy artillery to tale em down!
As the mother of two small children, I can promise you that a Minecraft only website, supported by a Minecraft only YouTube channel is big, big, big,big money. Please look up Dantdm for examples. His earnings from YouTube alone are widely talked about. His suggested earnings are massive ie millions of dollars per year, So yes, big money from a single game is possible.
Even if you only specialize in one, two or three games, you can have a channel on Youtube where you do a running commentary using screen capture, making snarky remarks in real time. If you're good at that sort of thing, you can get a following real fast on the more popular games.
I've been considering a niche within the gaming industry for the past week and this post just appeared in my emails.
It's like the Law of Attraction has brought me here. Strange but maybe this is a good sign that it might be a good idea to start a website in this industry.

Yes, this is a big industry and many gamers have made millions either playing or promoting consoles accessories on their youtube channel. I just starting a webiste with a niche specific First Person Shooter game title on a particular console in my case PS4.
Sometimes we just need to think outside the box and know our audience.
