The Luxury Of Time
When many of us start out at Wealthy Affiliate, the main goal is money. We want to make money online or increase our income. However, what's the goal of earning that money? Surely it's not to let it sit in a bank account somewhere earning 0.1% interest.
For many of us (in fact, I'd hazard to guess most of us), earning money is just a means to an end. The actual goal is to have more time to do the things we love.
This week, I was able to join my friend on his sailboat for a 3 day trip up the California coast. It was an impromptu trip, scheduled last minute on Saturday and we set sail Monday morning.
After learning how much his boat coasts to store and maintain, I'm not so sure I want to buy a boat anymore, but it was a lot of fun borrowing his. Maybe in the future though!
We weren't far away from land, so I still had cell coverage. I did a bit of work when the wind died and we motored on autopilot; mostly stuff like answering emails, managing writers, and replying to some easy questions via PM here in WA (note: This is a great reason to keep your PMs simple and concise, so I can answer quickly, no matter what I'm doing :)
I didn't get that much work done though, so I've got to play catchup for the next few days. Some products for one of my websites was delivered while I was gone, so I've got photos, reviews, and other tasks to take care as well.
That's why I'll keep this post short!
I just wanted to share this experirence, and inspire everyone to work hard this week and get just a few step closer to their goals of online income.
Keep up the good work everyone!

Hello Big Brother- Sounds like an awesome trip. It is so beautiful on the water. Thanks for sharing
How amazing to be on the ocean. You hit the nail on the head about the cost of boats. They're expensive to buy and pricey to maintain. They sure are a lot of fun though.
Money is totally a means to an end. For me it's freedom!
That's an adventure beautiful indeed, I saw myself on one last week and I noticed that my potentials are reachable for me, no doubt my vision are a real.
Enjoy Nathaniell

Your potential is definitely reachable Elma with the tools available here in Wealthy Affiliate! :)
Even though I owned a beautiful boat I hardly ever used it. There was always something more important at work that had to be done!
I hear that's a big issue too. Boats are expensive, and then you feel pressure to use them all the time to make it worth your while.
Doing what you want when you want is the goal for sure! I was also thinking about buying a boat someday, but after listening to you, I wonder if it really is something I should do myself. Maybe when my income is so ridiculous, the thought of having a boat won't be that big of a deal. Awesome post Nate!
Charter a boat a couple times, and see if you like it. Many boat owners say chartering is much better for casual boat fun. Ownership is a big time and money investment and it doesn't stop!
Right on man! My end goal (we're talking retirement) is a place up in Alaska for the summer and a catamaran in the tropics for the winter.
I love to sail. It's second only to SCUA diving for me. Where did you guys sail from and to? Were you just a guest or did you work as "crew" for your friend? What do you think of sailing?
It's the things like this that have me here at WA.
We just did a short trip near Avila Beach/Pismo. Nothing too crazy. Had to be back the third day and drive four hours home LOL.
I was guest AND crew. I really want to become a great sailer.
Cool. I'm up in the Sacramento area but sail out of the San Francisco Bay a lot. I know it's a little far but if you're really interested in learning to sail, check out Santa Barbara Sailing. I got my 103 from them and had a great time.
