My experience with machine design led to my interest in programming and web design.
Before I joined WA, I had built a couple of online stores and used drop-shippers to distribute products. These sites only earned marginally because I didn't know how to build traffic to them, so I eventually shut them down.
I finally discovered Wealthy Affiliate and have since learned so much about optimizing websites and pages for the search engines. I've also greatly improved my writing skills. I continually learn how to build and drive web traffic to my new affiliate sites.
I find that being a Wealthy Affiliate member is immeasurably beneficial in that I can stay abreast of the most current, and most effective strategies to drive targeted traffic to my sites.
I live northwest of Rochester, New York, U.S. very near the Great Lake Ontario.
See you around Wealthy Affiliate!

Thank you Gail.
I read your article, 'What is the secret and the law of attraction?'. You did a wonderful job detailing the concept, which made it riveting. I've always been intrigued by these topics. I can't wait to read your articles from the links you placed at the end of this article.

Thanks John. I appreciate that. The article you mention took me quite a while but i was pleased with it so I'm glad you like it. i'm working on a few others at the moment too and hope to get an email list running on the site soon so that people can subscribe. If you are interested in the law of attraction, I highly recommend the Esther Hicks/Abraham books - or even listen to her on youtube. They are really my authority on the subject and they're very down to earth in the way they explain things.
Wishing you a great day and wonderful Christmas.

Great profile, I love to read too. I usually have a couple of books running at the same time depending on my mood. That Twilight Zone episode is one I have connected with since I saw the first run of it. It has a very sad ending though. It's good to meet you here!

Hi MikeyB, I have started reading your detailed course, and will be reading it through soon. You did a really good job on it, I see. You're right, for many, myself included, goal-making has seemed to be a dry subject. Recently, I've been reinvigorated to use goal tactics in its value for task completion, to help me to define that ever evolving plan.

Thank you Shields, that's very kind of you. No, I haven't read much about metaphysics, but since you've read my profile, you won't be surprised that I'm intrigued by it. I haven't sat down and read specific works of ancient philosophers, but have always wanted to, you know, Aristotle, Socrates, Plato. I've wanted to borrow Thomas Paine's 'The Age of Reason' for awhile now, but I've already got a stack of books next to my nightstand that I haven't gotten to yet, *grin*.
But you're right, I don't believe in or have time for superstitions or political dogma, but place most of my faith into knowledge acquired by means of observation or experimentation, empirical evidence, science. By reading some of your comments around the WA community, I see that you're well-read yourself, and think we might share many perspectives. Is there any particular work that you would recommend, something that you found very good?

I could think of many books, esp. about Tesla. I've never read anything about Thomas Paine, but I think we no longer participate in an age of reason. We are very under the influence of persuasion and propaganda from those who want our money. Advertising, news reporting, sports events, and marketing wich use the concepts spelled out and taught by Subliminal Persuasion by Dave Lakhani. Don't choose to read this book unless you are willing to see what you have never seen and heard what you would have prefered not to. However, it is probably one of the more insightful books for marketers like us.

Thanks for the follow. I remember the Twilight episode where the guy cut a forcefield button off an alien's hand not recognizing that it was fed by the alien's blood. There was enough juice left for one press...and he locked himself behind a forcefield...no one could get at him and he couldn't get out. Nothing like watching someone wither away and die. Great to see your updated profile. I should do the same.

Okay, you've got it. I've listed my recent efforts in my website list. The latest website I built is for my brother-in-law and his painting business. Now I'm using one of Jay's WAbinar tutorials to help me get this new site noticed in the SERP's. If I'm successful with that, maybe I'll seek business from other local businesses, for either web building services, and/or SEO. I'd also like to turn my attention back to my own sites, and maybe something new. Thank you, it's nice to meet you..

Yes, I have visited your websites and liked them very much...thank you!
I'm making most of my money now helping local businesses...making websites, mobile websites, SEO, Maps Marketing, Reputation Marketing and PPC. The easiest and one of the best is doing PPC advertising for them. If you have experience in PPC advertising, you might want to pursuit this avenue.
I'm curious, have you made much money from your acne, bellyfat, and reverse osmosis websites? Just curious...

Hi Jhoecannon, Thanks for viewing and commenting on my sites. I've visited your five sites that you have listed. They're very nicely done, very professional.
No, I'm not making money from my sites, unfortunately. I put the most effort into the Reverse Osmosis site and had written many articles. I've driven some traffic, but no commissions. I'm considering revamping the site, simplifying it and not promoting so many items. Maybe focus on just a few, instead of trying to create an authoritative site. The acne site, I haven't really promoted it much. As you can see I've only got a couple of blog posts on it. So I guess I understand why that hasn't done well. How well do yours convert? What kind of promotional activities do you engage in for your sites?
I've only dabbled in PPC, but I am very intrigued by it. I think that I could be very good at it. It sounds like you are very experienced and successful with it. That's great! I know I've read some info about PPC here at WA, but where have you learned most about it? My most pressing questions with it are with the landing page design and layout. Do you have any thoughts on your experience with PPC, pro's and con's?
Thanks, John

As far as my websites go, I've made money on two of them, but only a small amount. My Organic Gardening Blog was my first one I ever made and my Quick Weight Loss Diet was my second. All of these websites were on Google's first page until after the Penguin update...that was a disaster! I haven't worked on them much lately because of all the work I'm doing for local businesses.
As far as PPC, I learned a lot by doing it myself...and, I lost a lot of money in the beginning when I was trying to sell affiliate products.. The key to PPC, especially for local businesses, is picking out keywords that actual buyers might use and not those that information seekers would use. I started doing PPC for local businesses only after I had done it myself for a couple of years.
Another important thing about doing PPC for local business is to take the visitors to specific pages on the business's website and definitely not to the website's home page. Sometimes I have the owners of these websites to create new pages for the PPC campaign.
I have the owners of these businesses to open their own Adwords account and then I have them give me their Google username and password. I then tell the owners to not touch their Adwords account except to add money to it...if they want changes made to an add or to add/remove keywords...they are to tell me and I will do that. This is very important!

Hi bigStevec, Thanks for stopping by. I chuckled when I read ("...not that i needed another reminder!") You and me both buddy, let's keep on plugging along!
Are you building? Renewable energy is site specific. My place is out in open farm country, and I'm very close to Lake Ontario. This place is amazing for wind. I don't have a wind-electric turbine yet, but have been dreaming about it. Every windy day, and that's very often around here, I can hardly stand it when I realize how much free energy I'm missing out on. When I can afford it, I only want to go small. A 1kw to 3kw rated turbine, plus about 560 watts of photovoltaic panels would round out a very affordable hybrid system for anyone, if they don't have tower restrictions from the town and neighbors.
I do not have a running stream on my property, but if you had good stream-head, a small hydro-electric turbine is the cheapest to install and maintain, renewable resource a home owner can invest in.

Hello, Yeah, success still eludes me as well, but it's certainly not from lack of trying. I've had several website/ article campaigns that have failed to take off, over the last two years. Right now, I'm working on yet another that I still feel good about, but it's really only new. I like to scour WA for any new tips and tricks that is working for others. I hadn't communicated much with the community, other than a forum post once in a while, but I'm trying to be more active now. I'm certain that you're also working very hard. I hope that your campaigns take off soon. Good luck! - John Mark (jdeHaan001)

Thanks for the Missing Manual tutorials. I want to redesign a couple of my sites and feel I need more flexibility than WordPress templates allow. Mine are Dreamweaver sites. May have to hire someone if it gets too sophisticated for me technically. Nonetheless, I want to learn the tech to get to the design part. Thanks John.

Thank you so much for the nice offer, I just may take you up on it sometime. I've revitalized myself and am now working on my third campaign. The first two were not successful, despite a lot of work. I had saved lots of notes over the last couple of years, but recently I've been gleaning WA, looking for updated strategies (article marketing, keyword research, etc.), trying to determine what's relevant, and what's not anymore, considering Google's Panda updates.
I've been studying web design using Dreamweaver and CSS, and learning Photoshop from a web design perspective. In search of updated strategies, I decided to sign up for the 30 Day Success Club, and the Street Article 30 Day Challenge to help me. I guess a have a hard time composing articles quickly. They're quality articles, but I need to pick up the pace, and whip them out quicker.
Thanks again for your nice sentiments.

Hi. There's a group that sells web design training (LearnWebDevelopment.com), although I haven't sign up with them, and likely won't. I've very pleased with the 'Missing Manual' Series tutorial books by David Mc Farland. They're awesome! ...but I wanted to say that about a year and a half ago they were really pushing the training for Joomla, as they felt that it was a better, easier platform than Wordpress. They also sell Wordpress training, and really push that now, and I hardly ever hear about Joomla anymore. I think it's only because it's more popular, not necessarily that it's better.

Thought I'd connect with you since we have been in WA about the same time together. I took the 30 day training twice and especially appreciate potpiegirls blogs and magistudio Jays wabinars and instructions. I launched a business at www.comforthealthybikesaddles.com that producing a small income right now. All because of WA. Best of luck to you and MUCH SUCCESS.

I do get traffic, make sales and had the site reviewed by Jay a few months ago. I have an assistant that helps with the backlinking and everytime she backlinks my site I get activity and new sales. There is a combination of things you need to do to get people to come to your site and buy. First, good content, Second - Good Key Words, Third - Niche Product in demand Forth - Backlinking - Fifth - Many articles on lots of article sites backlinking to your site. If you can get linked from a popular site that really helps in the rankings.

Dear Webkab, I'm so very sorry that I had missed your post. Thank you for contacting me, and thanks for the nice wishes. Yes, I too, had enjoyed posts by PotPirGirl. I don't see her around WA much lately, though. I had purchased her 'One Week Marketing' information, and was following those suggestions for awhile. I thoroughly enjoy Jays WAbinars! I don't always make the live presentations, but I try. If I don't, I definitely watch the recordings, and take hand-written notes. Isn't that a great resource?!
Anyway, over the last couple of years, I've built three or four Wordpress mini-sites and written a bunch of articles for each, but none had taken off. When the domains were up for renewal, I decided to let them lapse, and shut them down. I was creating Squidoo pages as PotPieGirl recommended, but didn't see much traffic from that either. Maybe because of Google algorithm changes, I don't know. I do know that I write well-researched articles, so the content is good. I did keep one WP site I didn't shut down, even though I'm not selling anything from the efforts. Another mini-niche site I built with Dreamweaver is relatively new: ReverseOsmosisSystemsReview.com is only just starting to see some traffic. So far, I written about 25 articles around researched keyword phrases and submitted most to Street Articles. I've got some ideas to improve the site that I need to implement. How do you drive traffic to your site(s), do you write articles, or maybe Pay per click? You did a nice job with your site there. It's nice looking. I hope your sales are surging!
Hope to see you around WA.
