A theme plug in for twenty seventeen that shows me it is installed and activated in the plugin section, but at the same time shows at the top of my dashboard that the plug in i
That plugin is for the theme called "Simpleshift". It doesn't work with any other theme. It's not meant for Twenty Seventeen.

I am still in course 1 lesson 8. I just got to the point where kyle tells you to delete the pages already on the site and add; about me, privacy policy, and site name, pages. O
You need to create a menu, go to your dashboard> Create new menu> add your pages to that menu> scroll down and check the box before primary menu> save menu> check your website if it works.

ok so i tried just now, and it doesn't create a menu bar with the difference pages. it still just says home.
Have you scrolled down to the bottom of the menu and checked the box before "primary menu"? (then click save again)
it only says,
- automatically add new top-level pages to this menu.
-top menu
-social links menu
under plugins is shows that the shift companion is activated, but i have this message on top of the dashboard.
I am not familiar with that plugin, it is, I think, a theme related plugin.
Can you please send out another question into the community, asking who's familiar with the shift companion plugin?

I saw, you are missing your HOME button too
