Understanding VPN

What is a VPN?

VPN stands for “virtual private network“. Think of a VPN as a secure tunnel between your device and the internet . It encrypts all your online traffic, making it unreadable to anyone who might try to intercept it. Using VPN can be beneficial for bloggers in several ways:

  • Enhanced security: When using public WiFi, a VPN encrypts your data, protecting it from hackers and snooping. This is especially important for bloggers who might be handling sensitive information or logging into their websit’s backend.
  • Bypass geo-restrictions: A VPN allows you to connect to servers in different countries, potentially giving you access to geo-restricted resources or websites. This can be helpful for bloggers researching topics specific to certain regions.
  • Improved privacy: A VPN hides your real IP address, making it harder for websites and online services to track your activity and location. This can be beneficial for bloggers who value their online privacy.

    How Bloggers can Benefit:
    1. Research and Inspiration:
  • Access geo-restricted resources: Research international trends or gather information from websites blocked in your region.
  • Protect your privacy while using public WiFi: Secure your connection when researching in cafes or co-working spaces.

  • 2. Content Creation and Management:
  • Bypass censorship: Access social media platforms or tools that might be restricted in your location.
  • Test website performance in different regions: See how your blog performs for audiences in different countries.

  • 3. Security and Privacy:
  • Protect your online identity: Hide your IP address and location from potential threats when managing your blog
  • Encrypt sensitive information: Secure your data when logging into your blogging platform or managing domain in registration details.

Any suggestions which VPN is best for iPad Pro and/or all apple products?

I don't have Apple products but Express VPN has one of the best reputations for seamless connections across all platforms. I have used it successfully on my Android phone and laptop for years

I agree with Catherine here Donald! Express VPN has earned its reputation by far!

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

Thanks Maria

Anytime Catherine! Btw, are you joining me on February 2025 ‘ Medical Mission in the same location where we had it this year? So far, we were provided great accommodation, with hot water and air conditioning in the room. I wasn’t expecting that at all. But then the government official had made it happen, as we were providing a truly expensive care for their people.
Let me know, as I am saving a seat for you! 😀

I don´t use Apple things at all, old promise :)
But I guess my virus software, where I have my VPN is for Apple too.
It is Bitdefender.

Here's another: NordVPN

Those folks do not use logs; you may want to review the small print and read up on providers' privacy, terms, and conditions before committing.

You may try Surfshark and CyberGhost :)

Interesting Candela, Thank you for this useful 'recap'
What you mean with 'test website performance ? ' I mean how do you see that performances of your blog ??

BTW by accident this morning I was trying to book a flight on Lufthansa but I was refused access to the website because I was what they mention '"probably using a VPN with unusual fast speed ... ". I was indeed using VPN super unlimited proxy on my iPad.
Does that happen often ?

Wow! Where were you when you were doing all the booking? The VPN you’re using was probably outsmarting them from all angles!
What type do you have Chris? I’m curious to know!

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

if you mean with what type of VPN I ha this experience, it is the VPN Super Unlimited Proxy which is standard deliverd with my iPad that I bought in NY.
I was in Turkey when I was trying t book tickets with Lufthansa.
After I disconnected and back on my local internet provider and Wifi
(in Turkey) I could connect again on Lufthansa but not before a shut down and restart of my iPad ....
I hope this fill in some of the typical female curiousity ;-)
Can you tell me what you meant with 'test website performance ? ' I mean how do you see that performances of your blog ??
Great to have some feed back.

Thanks for this, Maria.

For our security in the internet, we need the use of a VPN Jeffoi!

Cheers,
Maria 🌹

I have never required it, Marioi, but I can definitely see your point!

Jeffoi

Nice post. Thank you, Maria Teresa.
Very informative and precise.

Have been using VPNs for years now.
Some browsers come with VPNs built in.

Enjoy your week-end.

Paul from Canada.
