What Does $1 Million Mean to You?
It is 3 am on a Wednesday, and I know I have to be up in three hours. Why am I making the sacrifice? How hard would it be to say "F**k This" and go to bed? I just finished another post.

I am hawking my book and Wealthy Affiliate. To what lengths are you willing to go to Make $1 Million?
Have you ever done the math?
To make a million dollars a year from a $270 creative product with a 2.5% purchase rate, here's how it breaks down:
- Annual Revenue Goal: $1,000,000
- Price of the Creative Product: $270
- Number of Sales Needed: 3,704 Sales (rounded up for simplicity). It only takes 150 to get to Las Vegas! You will have $1 million/yr coming in in about 25 years. This seems like an awful lot of sales in a year. Kyle will also tell you that we are closing at 8%, but bear with me.
- Yearly Visitors Needed: 148,160 visitors to achieve 3,704 sales at a 2.5% conversion rate.
- Monthly Visitors Needed: Approximately 12,347 visitors per month.
- Daily Visitors Needed: Around 412 visitors per day, which means you need to average about 10 sales per day.
Now, let's get real.
Do you think 412 visitors a day sounds like a lot?
Here's a wake-up call for you: You've spent your whole life chasing the American Dream, working jobs you hate, for bosses who don't care, just to make ends meet. You've given years to the daily grind, hoping for that one big break, that promotion, that raise. But when it comes to building something for yourself, when the path to millions is laid out in front of you, suddenly it's "too much work", "too many visitors", or "not quick enough"?
You're willing to sacrifice 60 hours a week for a paycheck that's just enough, but not willing to dedicate the time to learn, to grow, to attract those visitors? You'll sit through meetings you don't care about, but not sit down to write a blog post or learn some SEO.
Here's the truth
Building an online business, like anything worth doing, takes time. It's not about instant gratification or the next get-rich-quick scheme.
It's about commitment, learning from failures, adjusting your strategy, and growing your audience. You're looking at 412 visitors a day like it's an insurmountable mountain, but remember, every mountain is climbed one step at a time. You start with content, with SEO, with social media. You learn from each visitor and each interaction. And yes, the first year you might make $10,000, that doesn't replace your salary, but stick with it.
By year two, you could be looking at $100,000. Year three? $150,000. Year four? $800,000. By year five, we're talking about $1 million.
But no, that's "too long."
You'd rather go back to the same old, same old, hoping for a different result.
Here's a thought: If you're ready to give up after a few months, you've already lost. Because those who persevere, who see the vision, who work through the night when they have to - they're the ones who will wake up to find their dream life waiting for them.
So, how many visitors do you get to your website? And more importantly, what are you doing to increase that number? Because here's the beautiful thing: once you get those subscribers, they renew, year after year, in perpetuity. Do it one time, and you're set for the rest of your life.
The Road to $1 Million
Don't let the fear of hard work stop you from achieving what you're truly capable of. The road to a million dollars isn't paved with shortcuts; it's built with dedication, learning, and persistence. So, are you going to keep sleeping through your potential, or are you ready to wake up and make it happen?
But the thing here is, you'll go to work for sixteen years, but you won't stick it out for two years to make substantially more than you made with your degree. Like really, it takes longer than two weeks to build a substantial income for yourself, doing something completely unknown to you, that you have to figure out along the way, that you can see incredible results within 1 to 2 years.
But nah, I am going to bed...

It's a very clear message and I cannot argue with your logic. I've had to learn this lesson the hard way, which you have so very adroitly explained.
On the other hand, my health is my first priority. I'm not going to compromise my health for any extended period of time for any amount of money. I want to be healthy enough to enjoy what I make.
But, that's just me.
It's a great post nonetheless. I hear you loudly and clearly.
Bob
Bob,
Your point is well taken. Health should be your first priority.
I am advocating doing everything that you can do within your power to be successful.
Then do just one more. That one extra will get you one step closer to your goals.
Be well.
Don
Thanks for your response.
I get it and I agree.
Staying up till 3 AM doesn't work for me. That was primarily what I was referring to. When I was a young man, I did that all the time.
I try to always be at my best. Proper sleep helps.
I've given up too many times. I'm done with that. I'm here in WA for the long haul and I hope to be on this earth for many years to come.
I 100% appreciate what you said in your post. It's right on.
Bob
This is a great post here Don, and gives a lot of insight and perspective on the journey. People expect the world within a month of starting a business, but the same person is willing to sit in class for 4 years and work hard on assignments just to get a normal "job"..
Or the same person will sit in a job for 20 years getting a few dollar raise, but expects to have a million dollar business inside of a year.
We can all achieve amazing things, and the online world has flattened out the opportunity to make it viable for us all, but we have to be realistic about the effort and the time it takes to build a successful business. ;)
Thanks, Kyle, Am I correct that we are currently closing at 8%?
If so, we can cut the number of sales in third!
Don
Hi Don,
This blog post is a motivational wake-up call for anyone hesitant about pursuing financial freedom through online business, particularly niche blogging.
Niche blogging and selling a creative product can lead to long-term financial security, even funding retirement.
Thank you for breaking down the numbers!
Most people are willing to work for years at a job they don’t love, yet they hesitate to commit just 1-2 years to building their own online income. Success isn’t instant... it takes time, consistency, and learning from failure.
The difference between success and failure is perseverance. The road to financial freedom is there, but will we wake up and take it.... or hit snooze on our dreams?
🔥 Are we ready to put in the work? 🔥
I am, for sure. One step at the time
Fleeky
It really is one step at a time. As I like to say, even small steps are progress.
No one will outwork me! You may have me in knowledge today, but even that gap will close.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Don,
I understand and appreciate that the struggle is real and I am not the only one who feels that way. Building a nest egg for retirement takes time and sacrifice and I truly wish that I had started earlier. I had successes years ago and then a dry spell. Now with Wealthy Affiliate and some other companies offering products within my preferred niche I feel that attaining these goals are more realistic and within reach. Never give up the dream!
My best regards,
Keith
Absolutely never!
