I began my Journey with this platform in October 2023. It has been an exciting and very rewarding ride so far. I have learned so very much in a short time that I find myself helping others. The training here is awesome. The people are even better.

Today I hit a milestone that made me think. I have had an eye on the number of followers I had just so I could make this post. I knew it would come one day. When I see something that interest or affects me, I research the subject to learn as much as I can. I am a bookworm. I love to read. Although, I commonly joke around and cut up, I do have a serious side to me. Please bare with me as I get this post delivered as it means a lot to me as a person.

I am Now Followed by 343

To some the number 343 may be insignificant but to others it triggers a painful memory.

Every time I see the number I stop to reflect on the events on that horrid day.

The day I am speaking of is 9/11/2001. And the significance of the number is how many First Responders Lost their lives that day in a senseless act or terrorism. I will not go too much into detail because the subject can affect people in different ways.

First Responders everywhere in the world Risk their lives every time they show up for work. They know not if they will see the end of their shift safely and go home at the end of the work day. Knowing this they still go. They go forward into the danger with the goal of helping someone in need. Whether it be the cliche' Cat Stuck in The Tree" or an Auto Accident or even the raging house fire. They risk themselves so others may live. They have my respect.

I recently revealed in a previous post that I am in the Towing Service industry. I work hand in hand with these brave individuals on a daily basis. I am not talking about the FDNY but my local Fire Department. I have seen their good deeds a lot closer than the general public can. I know the sacrifice they risk everyday to help those in need.

FDNY

I will provide you with a little know fact about FDNY. The FDNY is know as "The Bravest", They have a baseball team and even a Fire Boat called the Bravest. FDNY is the Only Fire Department in the United States that is Known as The Fire Department of Their City. Commonly if you refer to a department anywhere in the country, you will see The City of... before the name of the Fire Department. FDNY is different because of the Tweed Charter when they was established July 31, 1865.

A Tragic Day

In Total 2,977 lost their lives needlessly. This number does not include the 19 hijackers because they do not deserve to be recognized because of their cowardice act.

Included in this number 8 children that will not grow up.

The Pain of That Day Continues

As we go forward with our lives. The number 343 will permanently be branded in my memory. Lest we Never Forget the sacrifice of the Brave First Responders who sacrificed themselves so others may live.

Thank you for listening. And if I can get at least one more follower to get this number past me.

A tragic day for sure, Michael. Like so many others, I will never forget it!

My grandfather was a firefighter and Fire Chief for a combination of 37 years. I also have a cousin who is a retired firefighter. One of my sons was a police officer, now DEA agent.

To say I have an incredible amount of respect for our first responders, is an understatement!

Never Forget!

Tim 🎼

I am with you on that point!

Michael

The reminders are important, as we do get busy and forget.
Thanks
Sami

It will be unforgettable to anyone in the World alive on that day. It's something that should never be forgotten, nor should it ever be forgiven in my eyes.

I'm sure those that planned it and executed it could never have envisaged their plan would be so 'successful'. The Towers falling could not have been their plan.

The First Responders who came to the aid of the people in the Twin Towers will have never ever considered those buildings would collapse on them. They just went about their jobs.

So many things that day could not have been foreseen. But America was also caught with it's pants down. I think i'm right in saying it was the biggest attack on US home soil since Pearl Harbour.

The consequences of 9/11 are still upon us now. Travel restrictions and suspicion still exist. Religious intolerances are still happening. Ordinary people are being blamed because the attacks were conducted in the name of their religion.

Even now, the Middle East is a tinderbox. It's not the end. Sooner or later there'll be another atrocity, and those First Responders will rush selflessly in again.

God Rest the 343. 😢

Very well stated Dave, and Thank you.

Such a tragic event, never should have happened. I feel for all those lives lost and the families that were left behind.

I will never forget. And I hope future generations learn about it as well.

Awful time in history

Agreed

That day and the images are seared into my mind. A truly sad day of senseless loss.

Yes, very senseless indeed.

I will never forget and will make sure my children and grandchildren know full well the tragedy, sacrifice, and humanity of that day.

That is another key point. Children today that was not alive when this occurred need to be educated of the events of that day. It is not taught in schools I have learned.

It was and still is a sad day for America, Michael.

Frank 🎸

It was and is.

Indeed.

It was a horrific day, Michael! I will never forget it!
