For new members, from a new member.

I have been a member here for about two weeks now, I have a decent grasp on how the platform works and how to navigate around. I started my first website, and I am still working on it.

I try to pop into chat even if only for a couple hours in the evening, you see I have a full time day job and this is my side-hustle. I spend a lot of time researching and writing down topics/ideas and keywords to come home from my 10-12 hour day and write until I am falling asleep.

What I have noticed is that many people who come in and ask questions refer to Wealthy Affiliates as a business opportunity, or a way to get work from home or whatever else they associate this community with. I am sure some of the longer term members might disagree with me but I cannot see it as anything other than a community full of challenges.

The first challenge is given in the basic training portion. Find a Niche, Create a Website, Write content, Write more content, Keep writing content until the end of time. More challenges are from other members who create content to share with us. Can we build up ourselves to the point we can share our own knowledge? Can we scale our own business to the level that some of the members have here? Can we achieve whatever small goals and huge goals we aspire? These are all challenges, and I like a challenge!

This is also a community, a community full of amazing people with amazing skills who dedicate time and energy to help out the newbies. I have felt nothing but welcome to ask questions, discuss my thoughts and ideas with others, and even had some silly conversations. This community is supportive and cheers us all on from day 1. That is important to me. Is it something that is important to you?

I have seen other "programs" that show you a bunch of shortcuts and tricks to making affiliate money fast. I am sure they probably work, but you are going to have to invest a lot of money. Not only are you paying program fees, in some cases monthly, but also the fees to who knows how many other programs and people. More importantly, you are only cheating yourself.

The truth, or "the secret" if you prefer is that unless you are building slow and steadily, and working through the ins and outs of what will work best in the end for you and your skill levels, it will not be sustainable. I don't know about you, but I would prefer to increase my income every month for the rest of my life as opposed to have a quick buck now and nothing to show forth later.

It is up to you to decide if this is your path, if this is what you want to work towards. For me, I have a lot of "goals". I want to build my affiliate business to sustain me for the long haul, through my last twenty years of "work", and through retirement. I am also working on a program to become an herbalist and hope to one day help people in a clinical setting. For now I want to not have a knot in the pit of my stomach when I have to go to the grocery store because the bill is so darn expensive.

Ask yourself, what do you want to achieve in the affiliate marketing world? Is that goal sustainable? Do you want something that will be a quick buck or are you trying to dictate your future? Once you are honest with yourself, you will be armed with the proper mindset going in. Then you can make an informed decision on if you should join our community or not.

That decision was for me to be a member and then a premium member and now a premium plus member. I made my decision because I know what I want, do you?
