A revisit to driverless cars

I posted a few times about driver less cars a few years back .After some publicized setbacks at a Google desert test range 2 years ago they're back on the development track again. Source AARP

nearly all 2018 models can now do these tasks.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control. Goes beyond standard by adjusting your speed to the car in front of you.Sensors are used
  • Lane Keeping Assistance. You are eased back into your lane
  • Automatic Emergency Braking. Stops you from impact in a less jarring manner
  • Route based speed adaptation. Slows the car based on a navigation system map

All of these use sensors to a degree. It is going to happen. The UK is vested on autonomous cars on the streets by 2021.the most ambitious forecast yet Those who drag in the dust living the status quo will be left behind.

Dust off your investment portfolios on this technology It will be a bonanza when it hits!

I am not a fan of driverless cars. Who is at fault, the person in the car or the car company? Plus you just can't replace that good old feeling of clutch, shift, gas! To erase this from existence is a disservice to the future generations in my opinion. I love the feel of my car and I wouldn't have it any other way. Here's to making a profit from it though! Can't hate that! :D

Thanks for sharing, Mike.

Maybe it will put an end to senseless traffic accidents like the $300K McLaren 720S purchased on Friday and totaled on Saturday in Great Falls, VA.

There is a lot of senseless road rage and accidents in the Potomac and Great Falls areas Glen. Too affluent up that way!

Thanks for sharing, Mike.

I SURE hope you're right. There have been so many setbacks with this technology, and trying to bring machine-intelligence up to even the level of an insect sounds like it is way off into the distant future. Time will tell though.

This is one of the technologies that will eventually have a huge market share as it lays the groundwork for other products to be developed using certain patented processes and hardware/software.

A bow wave of technological commerce!

We have had those in boston, those driverless cars.they have had a couple of setbacks that have not been good.I guess they have just added multiple cars in the surrounding cities of Boston, ma.If I am too be honest I'm glad I don't work in the city anymore.I personally think it is a bad idea to test these vehicles at the human expense. I love the idea of the flying cars as well. But I'm sorry pepe's but this isn't the jetsons just yet .2021 might be a little stretch to the imagination, but I guess we will see.Love the topic tho.nice work once again

As soon as we can locate that investment portfolio......:D
This is going to be BIG!

Technology keeps moving forward through trial and error; pretty much like what we go through at WA. Thank for a very interesting post. Regards, George

Isn't driving scary enough? As a Regional Administrator I traveled a lot both flying many miles and then driving over 100,000 miles/yr.

It very scary to think a computer, which in my experience doesn't always work correctly or work at all sometimes, will be driving cars. It possibly won't even be safe to walk.........

How many vehicle recalls do we have now??????.

People are crazy enough driving......can you imagine? I bet the insurance rates will be amazing!!

You're not likely to catch me owning one.

Keep safe,

Laurel

Seems like those driverless cars aren't going away. I had to chuckle at the fact that it will adjust your speed based on the car in front of you. I'm sure they've looked at that from all angles. I've been on some roads where cars were def going faster than I wanted to go. A lot would depend on the sensors doing their jobs and possibly being able to set speed parameters before going somewhere in driverless car. What an adventure! :) Thanks for the reminder!
