Hey WA family!

I've seen a ton of people asking for tips to stay motivated and focused while creating content. I know that it has been an incredibly difficult time between the corona virus pandemic, the black lives matter movement, pride month, and what not. So I wanted to share a few things that have worked for me and I invite everyone to make this post a list of positive or helpful tips.

1. Reach out and vent to others so that you have an outlet. It is really important that we have some form of human contact, even if it is through zoom, the life chat on WA, or through text messages.
2. Take care of your basic needs first. This just has to be said because creating content takes a lot of mental energy, so you need to build that energy first. Make sure you are eating enough and healthfully, stretch out a few minutes every day, shower, and keep yourself hydrated.
3. Workout a routine around creating content. This is really important so that your brain associates certain activities or places to writing and getting on creative mode.
4. Give yourself the time you need. Maybe you like to do some research, let the information sit in your brain a few hours or maybe even days so that you know what you want to write about when you actually sit down to write.
5. If you have a lot of racing thoughts and ideas that could go a million different ways make sure you write three (and only three) bullet points of what your post will be about. (You can also write down other thoughts or ideas for future entries.)
6. Set goals. Your goal can be to write and publish one post next week, that is totally fine. Maybe your goal is to go through three lessons on the training here at WA. Whatever it is make sure it is realistic for YOU and YOUR situation. It is important to have some things that you are working towards. It will keep you more motivated and you are more likely to actually follow through and write.
7. Don't compare yourself to others. You are a unique individual in a unique situation, so it is not fair to compare your success and your productivity to somebody else's. You can only compare yourself to the person you were in the past.
8. Think about why did you start your website. We need to keep in mind the reasons we started a new project so that we find the motivation to complete it. Write them down so that you can remind yourself why are you doing this and what do you want to achieve.
9. Just start writing. I find that sometimes I really just have to force myself to do it. I mean, if you've done all of these things and you find yourself still putting off writing you are going to have to "white-nuckle" it. We all have to do things we don't want to, but if the overall goal is something you really want, then it is worth doing them.
