No, I have 6 posts that have these question marks, 2 of them have 1 at the end, 3 of them have 2, and 1 of them have 3 question marks.

This would be seen when you request comments and have a variety of links on which to select where the comment is to go. This list is where the "???'s" come up

Many thanks RaeAnne. I'm sure it tells you something about that particular page, but clicking on them reveals nothing.

Just curious if others are seeing them or if it mean there is a problem with that page/post.

I don't think its the form as explained better above. This problem is occurring with more than just that link. But thanks for your help.

Do you have a plugin similar to Redirect? It lets you create redirects for pages that otherwise would show a 404 error. If so, check that plugin's redirect log.

Pretty Link is another plugin that allows you to create redirects - typically to make your affiliate links more human readable (and perhaps to track activity on those links).

Alternately, redirects are typically created in your site's .htaccess file. If you're on SiteRubix, you'll need to contact support to get them to check to see if there are any redirects that would cause your visitors to go to the summary page.

cPanel (or other backend for your WordPress site) also allows the creation of redirects. Typically it's used to redirect http://www.mydomain.com subdomains to http://mydomain or vice-versa. This is another area Support would have to look into.

Sorry not to have a concrete suggestion, but at least you have places to start looking!

Yes I have been using the plugin "Redirection" but the changes have only been kept for a short time (a week was the default). I did change it to a month (and just yesterday changed it to forever. Anyways, I don't think I am seeing them all.

I wish I could see both the redirected link and the link to which it was redirected. In a video I watched, when a specific link was clicked on it showed both. Could this be a conflict problem with my theme or something. Wondering at this point if I should delete this plugin and all of the redirects I can and just start all over with a new redirect plugin. Maybe Pretty Link?

Curious too, Using that redirection plugin, I show 214 redirects and 2787 404s in the list of url's. I'm confused What is the difference? Are the 404's something that are automatically redirected?

Oops. I should have referenced "Redirection" as the plugin's name. That's what happens when I rely on my memory!

As you noted, you can determine how long to keep a log of 404s and redirects under "Options". Those logs won't create or modify any redirects though.

Tools > Redirection > Log is a log of those times when a visitor tried to access your site using an incorrect URL, and was redirected - typically by a 301 (permanent) or a 302 or a 307 (temporary) redirect. After clicking on "log", hover over a blue URL in the Source URL column, and the URL where they were redirected will show up in light gray below. Look for the link to your summary post URL there. Why is it so tough to read? Just one of life's little mysteries, I'm afraid.

Tools > Redirection > 404s is a log of the URLs that your site visitors used, but which have no corresponding page or post on your site. When that happens, your visitor sees a 404 error, and Redirection logs the fact that someone tried to access a page that doesn't exist. Frequently that's the result of someone trying to hack your site. You can see the IP of the visitor and the erroneous URL - so if one IP visited your site 50 times in 2 minutes trying different obscure URLs, it was likely a hack attack. That's probably why your 404 log is so much larger.

Your actual redirects (not the logs) will appear under Tools > Redirection > Redirects, together with the number of times the redirect was hit and the most recent date of a hit. You can delete redirects on this screen, or you can create new redirects at the bottom of the screen. If you click on a specific redirect, you'll see the URL where it sends your visitor (another place to look for your summary post URL), and if you click on the gear icon, you can edit the redirection or change its type (301, 302, or 307).

FWIW, I use Redirection to create redirects as needed to correct errors I made which were found by Google Webmaster Tools (aka Search Console), and use Pretty Link to create redirects for most affiliate links.

OMG, I never noticed that when you hover over the link it appears very very lightly. I can't really see it and changing my color scheme didn't work. I just end up having to high light the link, which is better than nothing [jumps up and down with excitement] Thank you

Also great information on the 'Hack" attempts, WOW! Can/should anything be done about these attempts?

And actually your explanations were perfect, not muddy at all ! Curious about why you are using two different redirect plugins? Especially since it's suggested to keep plugins to a minimum.

I really can't thank you enough for your help. I can work with this. Thank God, because I was just about to delete all the redirects and start over.

Glad to hear you've got your arms around it!

Just ignore the hackers. I tried banning "bad" IPs, but they just kept coming - and wasting lots of my time. I rely on security plugins now. In addition, I don't use "Admin" as my username to login, use a fairly strong password, keep Wordpress, plugins, and themes up to date, etc.

I guess I didn't understand you had one sorry. But I still think it's something to do with how you programmed your autoresponders. Check with your service and they can probably help you.

I am using sumo me, and setting it up is pretty straight forward.

Martstevt, are you saying I should ignore these errors? I uploaded my sitemap and I believe all pages are being indexed. Do you know can I tell for sure?

No I wouldn't say ignore them. I meant that I was getting my pages indexed and wasn't worried about errors. I saw Jay's training tonight where he showed us how to go to crawl errors in webmaster tools.
I checked my 2 websites and they had no errors. Then I checked a page and found some code that went to a blank page.
Long story short, I messed the page up trying to get rid of the bad code. The crawl error section will tell how to fix problems.
I now have it as it was 3 months ago and have to build it out again.
If you go into Web Master tools and look for the fetch option you can fetch and render each page and then you will know they are indexed.
I hadn't done that. If you explore Web Master tools you will find ways to check your site maps.
I still need to get mine right. I have submitted them but didn't have my pages indexed so now I should be able to get each page on the site map.

Thanks for the input, but I'm still having trouble understanding why and where this error is coming from. I know my pages are indexed. Perhaps I will take a look at Jay's last training and see if that help me.

I can't explain everything, but through my own process I found I could create a site map for a page, but not a post. It doesn't like the HTML format. I can suggest from the menu choose crawl, then crawl errors. It's way more important to fix these errors than it is to create a site map. Google will crawl your site without a sitemap (unless maybe you have no links). It just takes longer. But if you don't fix those errors it wont matter either way.
