Windows 10 Brings Unexpected Smiles

I have had Windows 8 and dealt with it jacked up way interfering with my work flow for way too long. Because It takes so long to upgrade it to 10 and expecting a large learning curve, I have put off getting it installed. I finally bit the bullet and last night I began the lengthy process.

What was I Thinking?

After getting it installed and with a little help from my youngest boy (he's my little guru - OK, not "little", he's 18 and taller than me, LOL), I am in heaven. Windows 10 is so much more user friendly and doesn't allow google to take over like it did in Windows 8 (of which I now feel was the worst update Microsoft ever did!). I'm actually excited to learn more about it's capabilities, and love the fact that I have a user friendly start menu

On to some really great work loads now that I can work easier and faster.

Thank you Microsoft!

Have you installed Microsoft's Windows 10 yet? If nt, you should, If yes, what do you think?

Thanks for your post. I am getting a new laptop. My current one runs windows 7 and really not worth the effort to upgrade. It is great that there are so many that are happy with 10.
Now ,touch screen or no touch screen.

I don't have one, so I really shouldn't offer any info on that. Many people like it. I If your getting a notebooks, Ipad or something like that I think the touch screen works nicely. Don't quote me on that tho.LOL

Had windows 10 when it first came out,had it for 3 weeks and went back to windows 8.1. Had so many issues with 10 it was terrible, windows 8.1 works way better for me.Will wait for awhile and try 10 in 6 months.Glad it works for you.

Glitchy was it? I'm curious about the troubles people have had.

Absolute agree! Number 10 is some stands higher than the other one, very happy about it.

I'm not installing 10, too many issues from what I've seen. Vista is right up there with 8 ... They both stunk.

I'm glad to hear 10 is working well for you.

ROCK ON!
E

what issues have you heard about?

I got 10 on one PC in July and the other PC in Sept. Both installs flawless. 10 is closer to 7, maybe a little easier for my mom to handle (82 yrs. old). I'm very happy with the transition.

Yes it is very much like 7, which I missed dearly. I'm still in tweeking mode though. So far so good. and installation went very smoothly. Yeah!

Got mine, Love it.
Have a great day..............Frank

I love it also. Here is my blog post about my experience. I have not had any problems since the sound issue.

Windows 10 always shut off my firewall. I don't know why?

Things that make you go Hmmm....

I have not taken the plunge as yet

It is so much better than 8 which was preloaded on my new laptop when I bought it. I hated it since day 1

I still have windows 7 and my laptop is getting on now so not sure it would cope with the upgrade

I recently purchased a laptop that had W10 on it, otherwise I would have stuck with 7 (refused windows 8, Microsoft got it so wrong on that one!)

So far I've been happy with it but have done some tweaks. The most important one being the diagnostic and usage data within the privacy settings. You can't turn it off, the lowest setting is basic, which still means Microsoft can collect data about everything you have on your PC. I turned this off from within the services, not something everyone would know about and Microsoft certainly don't tell you!

Hi Kathy. You have raised a very important point i.e. Microsoft collecting data about everything on your computer in Windows10 which I have previously read about and it concerns me. This surely cannot be right. I am not clear from your post whether in fact you can turn it off completely or whether only to a basic setting. Thanks for the valuable heads up.

Thanks Kathy. Hope to return to my home in Scotland in the near future from Singapore.

Ah, you're from Scotland then, where abouts?

Paisley Kathy

Been through there a few times on the way to Rothesay, my late hubby was a Rothesay man. :)

Thanks for that link Kathy
