Hey, I'm Mike Beatty,

My personal mission statement is:
To help others live the life they want by showing them it is possible

I started using Wealthy Affiliates in September 2018 as I'm now ready to start making a serious online business.

I spent the year before this blogging (about anything but mainly... changing health, success and happiness for the better.)

I realised over time that people monetise their blogs and can actually make a big impact. I want to make a big impact on other people's lives and show people there is an alternative to working paycheck to paycheck.

I invest in property in the UK and take a keen interest in financial education. Looking forward to meeting more like minded people!!

Hi Mike,

What a beautiful, radiant couple! And, you both look like positively charming people. :) Do you and Sarah work as a team here at WA?

Happy 1-month WA anniversary! (I'm a day early, but I declare it "close enough").

I've read some of your content at maketimeonline. com and kaizenbtblog.wordpress. com. It's impressive! Good job!

Best wishes for smashing success - I think you'll have it. :)

Hi Sharon!

Thanks so much for your kind words. Also thanks for your help the other day

Sarah has taken a bit of a step back from blogging since we've been back to work for the new school year (maybe she takes her job more seriously than me!!)

She actually just said she wants to get back to it after the next mid-term break so we may well become a team again. I think she may choose a slightly different niche though.

How long have you been with WA?

You're most welcome!

I apologize for my late response: "real life" yanked me away for a few days.

Whatever niche Sarah chooses, I have no doubt it will be a wonderful one and she'll do a wonderful job with it.

I joined WA in July of 2016 and upgraded to Premium later that year. (I wanted to upgrade much sooner, but waited until I'd saved up enough money for a yearly membership). :)

Hey Kyle, thanks so much for your message!

My wife and I started that blog about a year ago, not really knowing what we wanted to blog about.

It kind of led to posts under health, wealth (or success) and happiness. It really became self-development style. Learning more and more about online businesses I feel like this may be too broad and not "niche" enough to monetise.

kaizenbtblog.wordpress. com

I'm thinking of starting a new blog much more specific to making money online, basically following my journey to figuring it out. I've always taken a keen interest in financial education so this will be included.

Hey Mike!

You're gonna regret asking me that question because it's gonna be a long read.

For me, the most powerful benefit on the premium account is the access to the community. The lessons are definitely great and Kyle keeps updating them from time-to-time but after a year of doing similar things, you'll notice that you've pretty much covered everything inside when it comes to SEO so new things won't really surprise you. I could leave anytime but what made me stay is because of the awesome community that you'll learn to love.

You'll have access to senior WA-ers who have been in the blogging industry for more than 5 years and there are even people here who have joined for 10 years and are making at least 10k a month. I can, of course, fly solo without WA but being in the Online Business industry alone is not a good idea. You'll eventually get lonely and you'll burn out - Happens to the best of us because the growth process which might be a bit slow and challenging.

At one point, I actually did burn out and stopped blogging halfway last year, when I was at at the peak of growth and my site was making over $1,000 and more from other sources like my Uber Affiliate. I went down and a few members from WA actually contacted me to cheer me up. Kyle even texted me personally and two of our WA family members here (Derek from the UK and Roope from Norway) actually came to Malaysia on their SEA travels to meet up and talk SEO while motivating me to get back into the game. I realized they were making more money than me when we all started about the same time together so that secretly pressured me into going back into the game to keep up with them.

That was a golden experience and I realized that we needed to help each other to grow which is why I got back into the game just these few months and started hustling again. Writing is a lot harder once you've stopped the momentum but I'm building back the inertia on creating at least one content every week on my Blogging site and my eSports site. I guess you can say that in a way, I'm on par with you, so let's compete on our site growth!

Another plus for WA is the awesome features that they keep adding here. SiteSpeed got even faster these few days and that can boost your SEO game way better compared to when you're hosting your sites to Bluehost or Hostgator. Before joining WA, I was paying $14 a month for Hostgator and my site loaded at 8s. After joining WA, I quit Hostgator's hosting and transferred my site here and it was loading at 3s which was way faster. After WA introduced SiteSpeed now it's 1.5s.

There many things that got me to join WA but meeting you guys here and knowing that we get to grow together and help each other out not just for our businesses but also as a person, that's the main reason I'm here.

Others would say differently but this one's from my own personal thoughts. Hope that was answered your question man, let me know if you have more!

P/S - I checked out your site, amazing consistency!

You've got something going on and you can boost that even further super fast I'm excited for you. Once you're inside, you should definitely get on with learning more on keywords research so you can target more people and grow much faster.

Have you heard of SEO Moz? Rand's wife Geraldine started an amazing site called everywhereist.com which is becoming one of the top sites for travel and growth and I think her site's in a similar niche as yours. Exciting things are happening here and I'll definitely help check out your site growth from time to time.

All the best on your online growth!

Hey Mike,

I checked your Make Time Online site and it looks great with nice content, keep it up!

The Make Money Online (MMO) niche is huge and as you continue to write about it on your site, you'll start to find out that there are endless things to talk about so after a while, you'll definitely have the need to pinpoint which sub-niches you could specialise on.

Here are some topics related to the MMO niche to help you out :
1. SEO tips
2. eBooks
3. Blogging
4. Traffic Generation
5. WordPress tips
6. Clickbank Product reviews
7. Warrior Plus product reviews
8. Social Media tips
9. Google Analytics and Search Console guide
10. Keywords research tips and guide

...and the list goes on!

I started my site on the MMO niche the same way too and at one point I got overwhelmed as there are just so many things to talk about so I ended up writing about everything. Like at one point, I was writing reviews for Clickbank products and after a time, I didn't even realise that I had totally focused on writing blogging tips.

I soon found out that if you focus on specific sub-niches like Blogging tips and SEO, you could grow your site much faster because most of your audience will be enticed to click on your other related posts too. For example, if you write a post on "How to rank your keywords fast", your web visitors will tend to click on next interesting thing they find on your site too like "Top 10 Mistakes Bloggers make when researching keywords".

You could boost your posts through internal links as they are related and Google would rank you much better for that too because having more internal links than external links is one of the positive SEO factors for a website as it shows you have good content.

Totally understand on the "Not niche enough" problem though, I've been there and after a while, you'll get used to it. Start writing bit by bit on things you know and before you know it, you're confident enough to cover other topics.

All the best! Having your wife with you is awesome, you could take turns to create content and grow much faster. It's gonna be an exciting journey :)

Hey Riaz,

Thanks so much for your comment I must have missed this one come through!

It is so useful and I have found that I've kind've done what you've said.

I already have loads of ideas for content from the blogs I have written.

I have only tried one other product before WA. I left a review on a product I didn't use the other day and I found some useful tips about how to do this from someone else's site.

To be honest, I didn't really enjoy doing that (even though I was honest), but I'm not sure if leaving reviews like this will be necessary all the time.

3 questions:
1. Do you recommend I sub-niche my page down and only write about one thing then?
2. do I have to keep leaving reviews on MMO products?
3. What is your WA bonus Guide (maybe I missed this) as I am just writing my welcome message (at the end of the 2nd training)

Thanks again

Mike

Hey Mike,

Glad you reached out to me on this one, I was having the same thoughts when I first started.

Like you, I also do not enjoy writing reviews because for me, I would only write reviews after I've tried that specific program. If you've checked my first few reviews, all of them were very short with less than 1000 words because I had no idea what to talk about. After that, I started to buy myself into the other programs before writing them and that was how I was able to write 2,000 to 3,000-word review because all those facts came to me after trying out those programs first hand.

I wouldn't recommend you to permanently write about one specific sub-niche but if you're just only starting out, it would be a great way to grow your traffic by focusing on one sub niche first. After you're confident, only then should you delve into other sub niches slowly. Like for me, I started with the MMO niche and slowly after that, I started writing about blogging, SEO and keywords research.

You do not have to keep reviewing MMO products, there are other subniches which you can cover on like which are not even products like Bubblews, Organic Prospects, or even Fiverr itself.

If I can share one helpful tip with you - Try to balance casual and commercial posts.

Commercial posts are money-making posts like reviews and landing pages. These kind of posts are ones that are going to make you a lot of money in the long run although they are a bit tedious to create. But at the downside, having too many of commercial pages would make your site look like a scam-buster site like everyone else's. Of course, there's no harm in that but not many people look fondly over full-on review sites so without casual posts to balance it up, you might have a bit of a problem if you were to grow your site through other avenues like guest blogging or email marketing.

Casual posts like those "Top 10 ways" type of posts, keyword research posts, or even case study posts aim to attract a higher number of people to your site in a different, more mellow way. Look at it like sales and marketing – commercial posts give you conversions, whereas casual posts aim at attracting a higher number of people to your site. For example, besides doing reviews, I bring more traffic to my site through casual posts like tutorials or round up posts because it is easier to get more traffic that way.

I hope you get the picture, let me know if you have any more questions. As for the WA bonus, drop me your email and I’ll send you the files.

Cheers

Great thanks Riaz,

How is the email marketing/ growing your email lost training on here?

I can't find much training but I haven't gone all the way through it yet.

From what I've learnt this is HUGELY important to grow your online business.

I'm trying to find a way to put a pop up on my website to join my email list. Do you know how to do this?

Mike
Reply
Riaz Premium
Hey Mike,

Email marketing is covered a bit though not much here but yes, it is important for any website.

This is because when you collect email subscribers, you can inform your subscribers everytime you have a new post or promo and a percentage of them will come and check out your site hence bringing massive regular traffic.

Google will love your site even more when your regular visitors come again and again because it shows how serious you are at your blog not to mention indicating that your site is a helpful one to gain that many people who keep coming back there. Indirectly, you will get an extra boost everytime you post something and the more you blog, the faster Google will rank you for it.

I've mentioned that my site dropped down on traffic because I was away right? On average, I get barely around 100 visitors now compared to last time which was way more but whenever I post something and inform my subscribers, my stats shoot up to around 400 web visitors in one day! Imagine doing that if you post regularly, the results would blow you away. I've attached a screenshot of my blog stats this month to show you what I mean.

Although an email list is powerful, you need to regularly take care of it by emailing at least once a week or so in order to keep the connection because if you don't, they would in time forget you. Too much emailing on the other hand, would make them leave your list instead so it takes a lot of trial and error in order to make it work.

Nathaniell (He's a member here at WA) nailed it in my opinion on his blog onemorecupof-coffee.com, you could subscribe to learn how he does his copywriting. Mine is a bit more mellow as I follow Neil Patel's guide so it's mostly a short one with an objective to inform them.

There's a lot to share but I think it's best if you take one step at a time so that you won't be overwhelmed.

For email popups, many bloggers use it but personally, I don't really prefer because I found out that although my subscriber rate grew, many are actually hating those popups. As a result, many left the site whenever there's a popup halfway while they're reading. It breaks focus and it causes my bounce rate to increase which isn't very good for a growing site. Still, it's up to you if you want to give it a try, good experience. What I do instead now is to just add an opt-in form on my sidebar so you save more time while being able to focus more on content creation.

Later after you've established your site and content, you can go up another level by creating an eBook as your "ethical bribe". It's a great way to boost subscriber rate and people would definitely want to give you their emails in exchange for your free eBook.

Almost everyone uses Aweber but paying $19 monthly for that is super expensive for me and even more so for beginners so if you want to use an email autoresponder, I would suggest you check out MailerLite. They're quite new and prices are quite competitive too. Plus you can use it free for your first 1000 subscribers which would save you a ton of money since hitting that number would take you at least a year if you're consistent. I did a review about it here:

https://myinternetquest.com/the-legits/mailer-lite-review/

Oh and this is a guide Kyle made. It's old but it's still relevant until today: And to have a clearer picture, Jay covered on one of his weekly friday WAbinars here: Hope its not too much! Happy learning :D
