I Need Your Help

This weeks post isn't going to be my usual, here's where I am, here are my goals and so on post. This week is just going to be me asking you for your opinion and help.

I've been working on my new membership site and I have all the functionality worked out but I'm not happy with my landing page when you visit my URL.

I was hoping you might take the time to look at it and let me know what works, what doesn't and what you might change to make it more appealing.

I know that my placeholder posts need to be done. Right now, you just see Joe and I holding a halibut we caught in Alaska and no content as of yet. I'll be fleshing those out shortly.

I'm more interested in flow, the order of things displayed, if you'd change the actual text and titles of things, etc.

Any constructive criticisms are welcome. I'm hoping the WA community can help me get over this last hurdle.

You can find the page at https://angelpowwow.com.

Thanks again,

Scott

Hi Scott, love the idea of a community to meet other investors.

My only suggestion is that with the scrolling comments at the beginning you'd have to be a speed reader to read the message before the next one comes up. Are you able to slow the change down?

Great selection of sections and choices to interact.
What about security on private investing conversations?

Hope this helps and things are going better at home.
Hugs

Thanks, I set the slider to 10 seconds per slide. It will also pause if you mouse over it.

If the members privately message each other, their conversation is private except for me as the site admin. If they publicly chat, all members can see it.

As long as you make them aware of that.
I also thought one of the earlier comments about having a post on what your site is about would be great, as it is a little confusing.

Take care and have a Merry Christmas

Lily 😊🎶🎉

I agree with more "about" information. What does the "Angel" mean? etc.

I added a post "What Is Angel Investing?" and placed it on the front page.

Right now the spot looks funny because there's a white space next to the article where another article will go. That will be filled in when I publish my "Why Is A Community Site So Important?" post.

I also modified the first slide, changing the Join Now Button to "What Is Angel Investing?" and linking it to the article.

Does that address your concern?

Terrific Scott.

Thanks

I believe your text is fine. I would take the area where you show some of the things offered should all be aligned the same so it makes for a better read.
Jerry

Thanks

Tour website looks great and interesting however I am not sure how angel investing will help me?

Are you teaching me to invest in stocks and shares?

There must be a clear reason how angel investing will help me exactly for me to join.

Thank you.

Marc Ho

It seems like I need to put a what is angel investing type of post on there. The site is really designed for angel investors or those interested in becoming angel investors and assumed those people already know what it means. That said, I can see where people may stumble upon it and I'm shooting myself in the foot if I don't define what it actually is.

I see. If I know what is Angel Investing and if you are able to provide Free assistance than I will join. :)

Well, in a nutshell, angel investing is about investing in startups, right at or near the beginning of their journey, before they are in the position to seek investments from more traditional sources.

As such, they can be seen as a riskier investment, as many fail before they really get off the ground. That said, investing this early in the process can lead to much higher gains if the company becomes a success or exits (IPOs, gets acquired, etc.) in some other way.

It's a really exciting venture and I'm loving it. I actually wrote about it (in some form or another) on my other two websites that I built here on WA:

https://smallonlinebiz.com/whats-an-angel-investor
and
https://mavicmaniacs.com/how-to-invest-in-drones-and-the-drone-industry

I hope this helps you understand angel investing a bit more.

Scott

Hi Scott

Now i have a much clearer picture. 10q for the link. :)

Marc

Any time

Yes, more info on that.

I'll be adding 2 blog posts on the main page: What is Angel Investing and Why is a Community Website So Important.

I can't really explain Angel Investing in a short paragraph so I think having links to full-blown posts is the way to go.

What do you think?

If you are sble to target the exact audience than not necessary. My thoughts.

Your site looks good so far Scott and your niche is a great idea, my advice is to keep on going forward, research to get ideas from other niches like your own and other WA family will help as well too.

Thanks

Scott,

IMHO, your website's look/flow/feel maybe limited by the theme you have selected, however, you alone may know if some of the layout should/can be changed.

I may have missed seeing an "About Us" page, however, I would not want to add one, or any other pages, but rather make your website look/feel/flow like a ClickFunnels landing page.

In light of that "About US" page not being there, I would suggest that you display prominently midway or so on your "Home" page some of your background, experience, etc. as well as reasons why anyone should want to join your membership site.

As far as the look/feel most people do not care for too much text (other than the website's purpose mission, founders' background, experience, testimonials) and rather visual/audio as well as AI chat bots and pop-ops and gamification will ramp up your chances of getting new members.

If you need any help with those features in the paragraph above I will be happy to help you and you can see the difference.

Finally, here is some advice from a well respected marketer (not on point on the look/feel/flow of websites but useful for how the readers/visitors tend to react to textual/visual info and how to best prepare for the best outcomes):

"Conversion Tip

Whether you're writing an email, a blog post or something on social media, your readers are consuming it with short attention spans.

I’m sure that’s no big surprise to you. In fact, you probably browse the Internet at light speed, too, scanning titles and subheads, skipping to the bottoms of sales pages, and fast-forwarding through videos just so you can get to the next thing.

The same is true for your readers, and if you want to capture their attention long enough to entice them to opt-in to your mailing list, click on a link or take some other action, then you have to keep that in mind.

Have you ever noticed that everything you need to know about a news story is in the first paragraph? Journalists are trained to answer all the questions—who, what, where, when, why and how—in the first few sentences, just in case the story gets cut off when the paper goes to print.

In today’s online world, where column inches no longer matter, this type of story formatting isn’t quite so critical any more, but it’s still a useful tip to use when you’re writing your online content.

Think about it: If your readers are skimmers (as most of us are) then making sure you include the most important information (including links) right at the top of the page is going to greatly improve your conversion rates.

Don't bury it far down the page thinking you have to spend tons of time warming them up. You can do both! Give the brief info, then dive deep into it for those who want it."

Again please let me know if I can help you improve the look/feel/flow of your website and I think that you will see the difference. The rest is up to you.

Blessings!

Great response, Thanks!

Great information, Gabriel--thanks for sharing!

Jeff

Thanks for the feedback Scott, if you decide to reach out to me, please do so via PM if you have a chance today.

I am leaving WA tomorrow.

Blessings!

Ack! Sorry to hear you're leaving...

I'll PM you.

Yes! You say far more clearly what I was trying to say. Like a news article, get a summary right out there, first thing, or nobody will read the details.

Thank you kindly, I was merely sharing a well regarded marketer's advice and while I cannot/will not take credit for it, I do fully agree with it.

Blessings!

Scott.

Thank you I have replied there already and look forward to your followup if you have any.

Blessings!
