Hi everyone,

A surprising thing happened when I downloaded my history on Facebook and I started to look it over.

I always figured if you uploaded a pic, that's all there was to it.

I was wrong. They get far more info than I realized.

The cover photo is a perfect example.

Here's the info that follows about the photo:

So I thought I was just uploading a pic, but they received so much more info.

I was surprised it included the location - Lat/Long where it was taken which is in SW Wisconsin, I uploaded it from here in the Philippines to FB.

Needless to say I will go back to using an actual camera and not a phone for pics.

I am so tired of a lack of privacy. FB didn't need that info.

I am also tired of censorship on Social Media.

FriSatSu will be here in an hour (Phiippines) Happy FriSatSu!

I've known about this for some time Mel and have actually used it to my advantage to prove that I (or at least my phone) was at a certain place at a certain time.
And censorship ,,, gawd, we could go on about that for hours.
I'm just enjoying my FriSatSu right now on Tuesday. Locked up the hospital over the weekend.
Take care buddy.

I hope you are doing well Bux. :-)

Mel

Thank you Mel, appreciated.
Much better now that I'm back home. Had a great night's sleep Monday night.
Its good to see that little star of yours growing up. Not long before she is in charge of the house, which reminds me, I hope you are nicely settled into your new home, it must be six months or more now.
Look after yourselves.

I believe what you are referring to is meta data, which, if I am not mistaken, comes from your camera, regardless of whether that is your phone camera or any digital camera. This is something any platform or app can use. For my thirty-five-millimeter cameras, I can turn this feature off so it might be something you can turn off on your phone as well.

Nancy

Thanks for sharing Nancy! Will try.

Mel

Hopefully, you can. I have never tried to turn it off on my phone, but I turn it off and on on my 35mm cameras.

How deep do “systems” and software included go with our history? I had a journal and when I download a picture I have the choice to keep or not keep all that info it grabbed about me from my computer. Scary to some extent. Interesting read Mel.

Thanks Rick!

Mel

wow, eye-opening, Mel. thanks/

another reason I don't do facebook.

Happy FRISatSu!

JD

I'm not on FB either.

Mel, you can hide that data so it doesn't appear in an image. Same for your camera. Do a test. Take a picture of the same thing, with both your phone and camera. Then post it and check the history. You might be surprised to find the same info, (camera type, photo stats, etc.)

On both my camera and cell phone cameras, I do not use the tagged information, so my images don't provide the location, etc.

Rudy

Will give it a try, Rudy. Thanks!
