Can one's site be successful on a free domain?
TD is right. use the siterubix to test the waters and hone your skills/learning, but get your own site to make the real cheese!
That answer is going to be all across the board. It will depend on your need. Others will respond based on that and their experiences. Today, almost any reputable hosting service will suffice. I like WA, ix hosting, and webhostingpad. Unfortunately, that's not gonna help you. Because by the time you're done you're going to have a list of 15 possibilities and some good reasons. :-) good luck!

You might want to take a look at https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/domw/blog/siterubix-sites-can-get-traffic-boy-can-they-get-traffic That said, you're better off as @tommydillard says with your own domain, https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/free-websites-vs-your-own-websites Rich.
+ 1 for Namecheap http://www.namecheap.com If you go with them try coupon code buythedomain for half-price or SUMMERSMASH for at least a $1 off. Namecheap offer free WhoIs Guard for the first year and let you change the DNS at point of purchase. Highly recommended! :) Rich.
@@Rich: I suspected as much with the immediate DNS transfer! That is great to know for me. I have 4 sitting at godaddy that I'm waiting to clear the 60 days, 23 to go! I'm an affiliate with namecheajp, so I guess I'll be "all in" from this point forward - well almost. :-)

What are the best ways keep your website ranked within the first few pages of the major search engines?
why can't i find my pages in search, i am doing this and no traffic.. what am i doing wrong? Any ideas? been here for 3 months. they are indexed by google.
Keep finding low competition keywords (hopefully high traffic & searches) and putting content out there that are about those. That way you can be ranked really high really fast and stay there.
