Following the Rules at WA
Everyone that I talk to at WA knows me as Marley2016; and I do spend quite some time on Live Chat to pay forward everything I have been learning in my short two months here.
I try to answer questions and follow all the rules that are laid out by WA and the other members in the Live Chat and in the NO NO Rules.
Now although in the past I have followed these rules I have received comments from other members of WA stating that I am not properly following the rules and this goes in both directions THEREFORE reason for this post!
Being on Live Chat I have left people (newbies mostly) know that posting of their URL's on Live Chat is not permitted and can be considered SPAM by some of the WA members so please do not post your URL link here. In doing this politely one evening I received a very snide comment on Live Chat that if a person is asking for help that posting of their URL on Live Chat is perfectly fine and was referred to a Post done by Nathen about people posting URL's on Live Chat for help. I did let the member know that I was only following rules for WA and that I would read the post, which I did!
After reading the post from Nathen; I found that posting of URL's on Live Chat can be permitted if the person is genuinely asking for HELP; several days later a person comes on Live Chat asking for help with their site. Before I could ask them to PM me the link they had posted it on Live Chat! While I was not in the room the next day they did it again; asking for my help because I did spend over two hours trying to help this person the day before. Because I was not in Live Chat and they addressed their URL link to me someone reported them as SPAM.
This is not how Live Chat should work people seriously; I am new here but have completed all the OEC training and am I working on Phase 4 of my Boot Camp Training. We should be here to help each other and not just hit a SPAM button because that person needs HELP! I feel terrible because I was not there to protect the person I was helping the day before and now they are getting SPAMMED just because I am not on Live Chat?????
If I might make a suggestion here so everyone is aware of the difference between someone posting URL's to Live Chat for help verses SPAM we should all take the time to stop and read the persons comment before deciding to hit the Spam button!!!!
Members needing help with their URL should also be aware that doing this can make someone hit the Spam button and need to phrase their comment to Live Chat so members know that this person is in need of HELP on their site and are not spamming the community making it abundantly clear they do need HELP!!! If a community member sees that this person is rightfully in need of help with their site then they could also warn others that the person is only asking for help and not spamming and since you are willing to help them have them PM you the site and do not put it on Live Chat again. This way we are able to help those who need help and nothing like this happens again.
Thank you all for reading and I am hoping this helps to clear up some of the confusion for not only new people coming into WA but to some of the more experienced members of WA who I look up to and admire very much :)
I am terribly sorry to the person that I helped and then when I was not on Live Chat someone else figured they were spamming and hit the Spam button on this member of WA who did not deserve to have this happen to them :(

Harry Sr I went through that many times. went back to profile and started over. keep pushing you will win.
where there is no will there is no way. To stop and regroup is smart only if it sheds light on road ahead. Many times the pause only allows you to see the route much clearer. Gather up the pieces see how easy they fit with an open mind proceed more in control and increased knowledge. Never give up you wont be alone.

I was once to if you had a question specifically you could list your site. But, he says no according to the rules. Which I did not no. He just post a short while ago about this. Thought you might want to read it.

I too am am a rule follower but some use judgement as a way to move up the ladder. I hope the person you were helping sees this post. I feel your pain.

Put the URL of your post, down on wright on your profile page.
I use the URL of my post and add it to my G+ profile

You are absolutely right..... !!! Thank you for the post! I would love to be able to answer more questions here on WA, but my computer knowledge is so limited, that sometimes I don’t even no how to ask the question I need help with! LOL!

I understand people need help, we all can't spend 2 hours to teach people or help them fix there website. This person was asked three times by three different people please do not put links in the live chat.
This person was specifically asking for you. I understand that we are not suppose to add personal links in live chat. I asked at that time to a more seasonal person and they said we are not suppose to add personal links. So maybe the rules should be put in writing for live chat. Because we all have different views on it.
So when three different people ask please do not put links in the live chat, and they do it regardless, then I don't blame anyone for pushing the spam button. If you are spending time like 2 hours then I think they should PM you because you were not in the chat room or they could have addressed one of us. But we don't know they are getting personal help.
