Tease Me! - Day 22
30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!
Day 22
Tease Me!
Hello and a warm welcome to Day 22 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge. It's Sunday, and the sun is shinning...correction, I am in the UK and it's a cold, windy, wet and gloomy day LOL
Yesterday we spoke about the importance of knowing exactly who our target audience is. But now that we know... and we have successfully targeted their interests enough for them to sign up to our list...the next problem we have to tackle is how on earth are we going to keep them interested. More to the point, how are we going to get them to buy what ever it is that we're selling?
What I'm about to tell you - you may already know..but some of you guys may not. It's because the points I'm about to raise are normally aquired over a period of time and through experience in doing marketing.
For most of us here at WA, or should I say the majority of currently active commuity members, girls and guys just starting out in Internet Marketing..where everything is new and shinny. We are busy getting to grips with the training, feeling our way forward, exploring new skills and learning to put pen to paper - damn! old school :) I mean finger to pad lol..a lot of us for the first time in a long time.
We're very much thinking in the short term..in the here and now. But in a relatively short amount of time our thinking will suddenly start to shift as we mature and grow. As we begin to develop our content marketing plan, a new dilema appears on our horizon ...what and how much should we be giving away for free!.
It's obvious to most of us that in order to attract our audience to us in the first place, we have to share some of our knowledge and experience for free. We have to show them that we know what we're talking about in order to grab their attention and earn their trust.
But at what point do we stop? Where do we draw the line between what we give away for free and what we ask them to pay for....because after all this is a business and we have families to feed and bills to pay.
I'll admit that It's a real toughy and an extremely personal decision to where we draw this line...but I think I've worked out a good concept which I'll share with you below.
Generally speaking, I share all my content for free, including my blog posts, my lead magnets and any tips and ideas I share with my subscribers via email...but all have one thing in common ...they are incomplete!
Remember the idea behind every monetised marketing website is based on the very same principle. We are always trying to help our readers to answer a problem, overcome and to solve a problem.
I drill down to find exactly what I'm doing to help my reader solve their problem. Then I simply break it down into separate steps.
My aim is to ensure that whatever I'm sharing with my readers will help them see some progress or see some results...this is very important as it removes a lot of the objections we all make when it comes time to purchase while at the same time we're gaining their trust. The line we are drawing is that we never want to give away the whole system. We want it to be useful, but incomplete. We want to give them a taste of the story, but not the ending...do you get my drift?
If you take this current 30 Day Marketing Challenge blog as a real life example. If this were a commercial project published through my own website...my objectives right now would be to show you as a reader how you can benefit from building your own list while also sharing with you the strategies you need to grow that list.
This is all very helpful information shared with you for free. Of course there is a vital missing component! and that is where I will earn my money....by recommending the actual auto responder service you will need to put all of this great info into practice!... In other words, I am making the content useful but incomplete.
It may seem a little cold to some of you when we analyse the actual components which make up selling...but these are necessary skills and need to implemented into your business if you want to consistently and successfully sell. As long as we maintain our ethics and keep our customers at the core of everything we do then we'll never go far wrong :)
I will leave things there for today...I hope you have found some value in todays post. Remember to click like and as always I would welcome your feedback below.
I think it's about time we touched upon one of the "in" topics of the here and now the infamous..."sales funnel". You don't want to miss that one...see you tomorrow!
I will leave you with my thought of the day...
Don't ever be scared to ask questions...

Hey Anthony - great points. Totally get it. But can I do it?
You should write a marketeers book.
Great ideas here. Thank you. I am learning so much from your posts.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen
Hi Karen, thank you for your comments...I am so happy you are finding some value in them. Hope your day has been a goos one for you.
Hi! Anthony, You are an artist to draw a fine line between giving away free and selling with ethics. I like it, but yet to feel my way forward in time. I have been following you for possibly coping your strategy through the grace of WA community spirit.
Off and on, I appreciate you to check on www.ebettercare.com, and comment/suggest for bettering...
Good day,
James
Hi James, thanks for your comments. I will of course visit your site to see your progress. Have a great day
Absolutely right Marketeer1 - I've either found myself buying because I'd been given just enough to tease me and want more but I have also become so aware of this tactic that I don't press the "Buy" button as quickly anymore unless it's:
a) going to benefit my family or pets or
b) as I'm on such a tight budget, is this purchase worth having that I'm willing to go without something else or wait on paying a bill next week instead of today (when I really probably should pay it today)?
I've had to discipline myself but there are thousands out there who can't control themselves and these are the ones who we hope will still click out buy buttons! :)
In your first line, I was going to call you on the sun is shining in the UK but you pulled back on the chain.
Great points on when and how to transition from a partner type relationship (free) to a customer type relationship (paid). This is a challenge in standard business relationships let alone virtual relationships.
I am a newbie here so I look forward to unraveling the ball of yarn. Thanks for a great post and training. Jay
Thanks Jay, no doubt we'ill have our work cut out unravelling a few knots from time to time :)

Hey Sylvia, if you are offering a service or product that is providing a solution to someone's problem...of course you can do it. There will come a time when you don't want to simply give your knowledge and time away for free...because at the end of the day, we are after all creating businesses. Once you have built a suitable audience up who follow you...you can start to give this some serious thought :)
Ok, - scary but I'm gonna try.
You'll be the first to know if it works or not.
That's the spirit. If it don't work...we just keep tweaking until it does :)
