Should I Go With The Flow? - Day 23
30 Days To Crush Email Marketing!
Day 23
Should I Go With The Flow?
Hello and welcome to Day 23 of my 30 Day Email Marketing Challenge. It also happens to be my birthday...so Happy Birthday To Me :)
Today I want to talk a little about our "Sales Funnel". It's a term which you'll hear a lot about over the coming days and months. Our Sales Funnel is a central component which sits at the core of our websites...and it controls the flow/direction which our customer takes through our sales process from start to finish.
Email marketing makes up a large portion of our sales funnel, but there are other components, such as our opt-in page and also our lead magnet which is what gets our readers onto our list in the first place. At the other end of that funnel is the offers that we're presenting to our subscribers.
We want our reader to naturally flow and move from our opt-in, to our sales page, to our shopping cart, and finally our download page.
It's imperative that this is a smooth and uninterrupted flow..as we don't want our prospect to think too much!!!...(this may sound a bit 2nd hand car salesman in nature)...but believe me we never want our potential customer to stop and reconsider their purchase decision.
Let me try and explain a little bit better...as I fear I'm beginning to sound unethical in my thinking when in fact I really don't mean to be.
We don’t want to create or introduce a disruption that makes our reader wonder if they are making the right decision.
Think about it for a minute, consider the process you went through the last time you bought a product online...I bet making that decision to click was not an altogether easy one.
That's because as modern consumers we're programmed to question sloppiness. If something doesn't flow smoothly or takes us somewhere we're not expecting we are more than likely to stop what we're doing because that little voice inside our heads whispers to us "this doesn't feel right".
As business owners, we never want to force a prospect to make that buying decision twice!
Trust me, if we do...it'll hurt our bottom line and more importantly, (bringing integrity and ethics back into the equation) it may well keep our subscribers from taking that all important next step towards reaching their goals...which I consider to be a real tragedy.
If you're currently at the stage in your own business where you've incorporated a Sales Funnel, take this opportunity to stop and take a look, examine it and also the emails you’re writing for it to ensure everything flows from your initial email, to the order page and to the product itself.
If it doesn’t flow smoothly, fix it immediately... or if you’re promoting someone else's products or services as an affiliate and fixing it is out of your control, my honest advice is to dump it straight away and find something better to promote!
I'll leave it there for today as the birthday boy has places to be :)
If you've enjoyed today's post don't forget to click like and I always love to hear your comments if you want to leave one for me below.
Tomorrow lets look at some ideas to help improve our copywriting.
I will leave you with my thought of the day...
No matter how small the forward step...
make sure you take one each day!
