Day 1 - 30 Day Blogging Challenge

Welcome to Day 1 of my 30 Day Blogging Challenge. Well what can I say...apart from the fact that I hadn't realised what day it was yesterday when I threw down this challenge to the world...it was a Friday.

Which meant that my first day to post my first blog was Saturday...LOL.

I have been out all day and then went out tonight forgetting all about my blog :(

So having now returned home in the wee hours of this Sunday morning...I am feeling very guilty and a little stupid..(and shhhhh!...a little inebriated )

I am determined though to stick to my word, although my first blog is an hour into the start of what is technically my 2nd day...I will post another blog this evening to keep things on track.

So the concept behind my 30 Day Challenge is that it can be applied to any niche whatsoever. If you’re a food blogger, try sharing 30 recipes that follow a certain theme and invite your readers to follow along with you.

If you’re in the parenting niche, try for example to recommend 30 children’s books.

If you’re in the self-improvement niche, run a 30 Day Inspirational Challenge where you share an inspirational quote each day.

I think you get the idea :)

I really want to challenge myself..and yourself... and your audience to do something consistently for 30 days in the same manner that I am posting for the next 30 days.

I think we'll love getting into the habit of blogging daily, and we'll hopefully be amazed at how much our audience (fingers crossed) and our traffic will grow over the next 30 days.

The first thing I want to explore is what is the best method of finding new post ideas

For me personally...I like to brainstorm blog post ideas based on the categories that I have already created for my website audience.

There is definitely nothing worse than sitting in front of your laptop (like I did the other day while thinking of what to write for my first blog here on WA), only staring at a blank screen for 2 hours. We all have those days where inspiration just doesn’t strike and we can’t come up with a single post idea.

Maybe we're in a rush and we need something quick to write and publish to stick to a blogging schedule (just like what I am doing now LOL) and keep our readers happy.

You don’t want to spend loads of time trying to come up with something to write about...because quite simply, you may be doing this in your spare time while holding down a full time job...so you just don't have too much time to spare.

In either scenario it’s nice to have a list of blog post ideas ready to go at a minutes notice.

I’ll walk you through the simple brainstorming exercise that I often use which will hopefully result in lots of blog posts ideas you can use whenever you need a little extra inspiration.

Firstly, grab a notebook and pen, and let’s start brainstorming a whole list of future blog posts. I prefer to do this kind of exercise with pen and paper, but if that’s not your thing, by all means use your PC.

Step 1 – Log Into Your Blog and Make a List of Your Existing Categories

Start by making a list of all the categories on your blog. You may have a pretty good idea of the main ones or the ones you use the most, but there may be some you are forgetting.

Log into your blogging interface and look up the categories you have set up. Copy them down in your notebook, leaving at least 10 lines of space below each category.

Step 2 – Come Up With At Least 10 Blog Post Ideas Per Category

Now that you have your list of categories, come up with 10 blog post ideas for each category. Don’t censor yourself, just jot down the first things that come to mind. Remember this is a brain storm. The idea is to generate ideas. You’re free to tweak, edit, and reject them later. For now, just make sure you get them down on paper.

Step 3 – Revisit and Repeat As Required

One of the great things about this method is that you can repeat it whenever you need a new batch of blog post ideas and since we're focusing on coming up with ideas for each and every category, no area of your blog will be neglected over the coming 30 Days.

Give it a try and see if this simple idea helps you to generate some fresh new topics.

I will share mine with you in my next Blog on Day 2 ... Later this evening :)

Cheers to that!

Thanks for sharing- I love your brainstorm-strategy!

Hi Therese, thanks for reading, I appreciate your support :)

I just had a 30 days blog of the superfood niche :) You have a real good strategy, you can do this!

Thanks Loes for your support. How did you get on in your previous 30 day challenge?

Made it to 45 days in a row, and now I am on a schedule of 1 blog in 2 - 3 days

This reminds me of Kalatu's 30 Day Blogging Challenge...

Hi Gommer, Kalatu?..I have googled it..blogging software?

Yes, the blogging software of Empower Network. They have what they call "21 Day Blogging Challenge". I used to be a member of them, until I left them last summer.

Yes I have come across them before..didn't ever go down the membership root with them..as they didn't meet my criteria for what I wanted in a business. May I ask how you got on?

I used to be working in a multi-level marketing company with coffee as a product, so I was more opened to the idea. Empower Network works on the same idea, it's just that what they are marketing is a digital one, a blogging software. That made my transition easier.

But then, lately, when I noticed that the leadership of the company is no longer focused on the supposed to be goal, of training people how to become good bloggers, I bolted out.

They are more focused now on selling highly priced training packages amounting to thousands, which I do not like.

It sounds like I dodged a bullet then :) I appreciate your support in this challenge. Thanks Gomer

This is a great idea. I am definitely down for the challenge.

Hi Adam, thanks for reading. It will be great to hear your own experiences as the days progress in this challenge. Best of luck,

I will keep you updated
