Hi I am the Erin half of sofieanderin and am so excited to be here. I have been here before, mainly just visiting, reading, observing. Now is the time to jump in the deep end and I have no time to waste getting used to the water:-) I am employed in the traditional sense - corporate job with the use of a cubicle -but the time to shake things up is way overdue. I have reached a point in my life where I am simply tired - of being told when I can work, where I can work, how I can work and how much I will earn. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for my job as it keeps the bills paid and the fridge full. But I know there is a better way. Plus, I am ill and know that I have to find alternatives to keep the $$$ coming in. Someday in the not-too-distant future, I will not be able to make the journey to my cubicle to earn that pre-determined paycheck. And I refuse to go out broke...

Hi,Erin. I understand your situation only too well. I loved my career as an occupational therapist and had planned to work until I was 70. However, LIFE had other plans for me, and I had to quit when I was only 51, retiring on disability because I could no longer lift my patients due to a neck injury. I had professional disability insurance, but it would not pay until Social Security disability was approved, which took 2 or 3 years. So, my retirement income went to support me until I had an income once again. I am excited for this opportunity to stop living paycheck to paycheck and to be in charge of my own destiny! Best of luck to you. Carol

Carol, I worked 12 hours a week while I waited 6 months for my disability to begin paying me and let me tell you it was challenging to survive of such a tiny amount of money. Funny thing, the date of my first disability deposit was also the day I had my double lung transplant! I too am excited to be a part of WA and I wish you all the best on your journey:-)

Cheers,

Hi Erin, thank you for the follow and I am following you back. I have been thinking of what you have written in your bio... Like you, I am reading, learning , observing but I am getting more and more ready to jump into action.
I do hope , in not too distant future you will not have to go to your cubicle, but not because you are ill but because you are successful with WA!
Wish you best of health and a happy life.

Hi Erin. Thank you for following. I'm also following you. Like you I'm fortunate enough to have a job, and like you I'm certainly not unappreciative. Our unemployment rate is 45%. Our murder rate for the last calendar year was 18 000. Our rape statistics are 14 every 30 minutes, boys, girls, men and women. I live in South Africa, a beautiful and sunny country. I teach people to buy and sell shares on the stock market, I analyse companies and I manage share portfolios. I have had quite a checkered career. I sold life insurance, I owned two clothing manufacturing factories with 120 people in each, I was an estate agent, I was involved in Horse Racing, I sold Industrial Fire Pumps, I was a Diamond Dealer and travelled all over Africa buying stones. Now I have recently joined WA. It is my intention to make a success of this internet marketing and travel the world. I welcome any help and suggestions that you have to pass on to me. I'm sure your Pearls of wisdom will be of tremendous help. I aim to bring down our unemployment rate by introducing people to affiliate marketing.

Congrats on all the experience you have had working, I can only imagine the stories that you have to tell! I applaud your goal of paying it forward... I have always been of the belief that poverty can make a person do all kinds of crazy stuff. You will find all the support that you will need and more just by reaching out to our phenomenal community. As for my pearls of wisdom, study hard and keep focused on why you are here:-)

All the best to you on this adventure,

I'm glad you decided to join WA. I've been here two weeks and I've already built 5 websites. One of my websites has already reached page 1 of the Google search on the phrase "operationwhiteterror" and it shows in the middle of sites which I've blogged about.

I'm sure the Google ranking was upped when I inserted an excerpt of the book (Chapter 1) because Google looks for content for the best search ranking. Take a look if you like.

Hi Erin, thank you for the follow! It's great to get to know you here...wow, we sound a lot alike, lol!

I started out here about the same time as you, and for the same reasons...tired of being told when to work, where to work, how to work, and well, tired of the 9-5 grind, which I've never enjoyed in the first place. Like yourself, it's not that I don't appreciate the jobs I've had, but I know there is a better way to not only make a living, but actually enjoy doing it. So, here we are!

See you around Wealthy Affiliate...
Best wishes in all you do :) ~Sherry

Hi Erin. I am really hoping that you succeed with this company. It seems like we have a lot in common. I also work in a cubicle in the corporate world and as much as I like my job and am grateful, everyday I imagine how it would be to have a flexible job working for myself. It's really hard having a corporate job as it may seem like you can never get sick sometimes, even when you are in pain, you find yourself clocking in. You mentioned on my page that you also live in Minnesota so I definitely hope to meet you one day. Again, I am wishing you the best with this company and hope that you succeed in every way possible!

I am wishing you all the best too! Is your job also in a call center? That is the worst kind of job, at least in my mind. I have worked my call center job for 6 years now but the last 2 years have been from home. Since I am at home it is so much better, plus I only work 12 hours per week. You are right on with saying that you cannot get sick and stay home to take care of yourself...I had a double lung transplant last 10/26 and now that I do not work full time, I have NO PTO, no sick time! Seriously, I have no time to cover days when I do not feel well or have one of my endless doctor appointments. Plus my job has a point system...if you call in you get a point and if you collect 10 points, you get fired. Talk about stress :-( I cannot wait till I am in a position to say "bye-bye" to my boss and my job and begin living that flexible lifestyle!

YES, Sooner or later we all reach that time in our life, and at 79 I realize how important it is to have an easier way of earning an income. Which is exactly why I'm here being in progress as I'm new to computers and a bit slow too.
Thus, I can use all the help that I can get along the way with great appreciation and thankfulness in Christ Jesus. My life is summed up in being of service to our nation and people by keeping them safe being a veteran.

I am so glad that you "get me"! I am never afraid to speak my mind, but I know that some people are a bit put off by what I say. I agree with you that it is not about the money, but rather the freedom to live your life on your terms. You are young yet and have this wonderful opportunity to take your life by the reins and make it what you want it to be. If I had known at your age what I know today, I would be a force to be reckoned with:-)

Hi Erin and thanks for following me! I understand perfectly what you are feeling. I used to work in corporate jobs for way too many years too and as a sensitive and creative person it was too much and too restrictive. Thank you so much for your offer, it means so much to me! Corporate jobs just seem to suck the life right out of a person, it is as if you will turn into a robot. For a creative and sensitive person, I can imagine that it is twice as bad:-(

I still work a few hours a week for the "cubicle company" but due to illness, I have worked from home for the last 2 years. Also due to my illness - and recovery! - I am so much closer to complete freedom! Illness has a way of defining situations, goals, and determination. It is amazing what you can achieve when you have nothing to lose!

Ross,

Treading water is always preferable to drowning! When a person has been through a life-changing illness, perspective on life becomes defined and on purpose. There has never been a frustration for me that has not been resolved, thanks to the support and assistance of our community.

My mission is simply the journey I am meant to be on:-)

Barbara,

Thank you so much for the kind words. Illness makes a person look at life - and the daily choices that we make - with fresh, new eyes. We never know what the day will bring, but we do have the option to rise to each day with purpose and gratitude. I know where I am headed and I travel with a purpose. It is people such as yourself that remind me to slow down enough to appreciate those I meet along the way.

Cheers,
Erin

Erin, fantastic bio - really inspiring. I love that you see this as a way to plan for the future course of your illness, that's so positive. I wish I had known about WA 10 years ago so I could have done the same. Long story short - I have fairly advanced MS, an ex-husband who ran away the minute I was diagnosed, and all the financial struggles that entails. But is it bad? NO! All this has been a great motivator for me and now I'm really excited to see what I can do with WA. And thanks for following me! Kat x

Katheryn,

Thank you so much for sharing your story...it never stops amazing me the circumstances that bring us here, at this time in our lives. Illness CAN be a great motivator, as long as we embrace an "attitude of gratitude" and don't ever allow "poor me" to pass our lips. I ended a 12-year relationship during my illness so I understand about ex's that cannot or will not step up...I say that we are much better off without toxic people in our lives! On 10/26/2016, I had a double lung transplant. I waited one day shy of 1,000 days for my new lungs. I am here today due to the death of my donor and I try to show my thankfulness by living a life full of purpose and choice:-)

Cheers,
Erin

Hi Erin,
Thank you for your welcome and your message. I refuse to go out broke too! I can't work a traditional job anymore and SSDI pays just enough to keep a person from starving (if you are careful). I want that freedom again of having money in the bank and my bills paid in full. Plus I love cruises! lol

Hey Alex, I was working a full time job up until March of this year. Lucky for me, I work from home and my employer has agreed to my working just 12 hours per week. This puts me within the income limits for SSDI but it has been a juggling act since March. I am listed for a lung transplant and know that I will never go back to a traditional job. Too many germs and no freedom at all! But I still refuse to go out broke :-)
