Open Letter to the Big Brains of Wealthy Affiliate about the WA Blog Editor Bugs

I have decided to put this out to get some attention because it's been a very long time and there has not been a fix yet. I know I am not alone with this and hopefully other members will concur.

The WA Blog Editor is a blessing. Fantastic idea, for both posting within Wealthy Affiliate or sending it to our own WordPress websites. I love it. Using it daily, myself.

However there are a list of bugs that need attention for a long time now, because currently the editor wastes more time than it saves.

Here are the list of bugs I know of. There might be more but this is what I have got:

  1. Heading, particularly H2. It doesn't work. Since the editor offers only two headings H2 and H3, it is rather limiting when it comes to building a well structured post. It needs to be fixed.
  2. Text attributes, such as Bold, Underline, Italic, very unreliable. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. The only fix I figured, that works is saving draft, closing the editor and relaunching it. It doesn't always work either. Sometimes it needs a few more attempts. Wasting time, really.
  3. Selecting text with the mouse cursor. More often than not, it doesn't work. You have to use SHIFT+ARROWS to get part of the text selected. Not good.
  4. Related to #3, also often when clicking with the mouse on part of the text, the cursor won't respond. You have to use the keyboard's ARROWS to move the cursor to the desired position.
  5. Grammarly Extension, which I use everywhere, doesn't work within this editor, however it works great when commenting.

The problems I described in #2, often won't be realising until the blog article is posted, then have to go back in edit mode, set the text attributes again and pray that they will work this time. Sometimes they won't, sometimes they will, after several attempts.

Since it's not a new problem, I am convinced that other members have been having similar issues, so I would like to ask Kyle and Carson and whoever else is in charge over these things to take a look at it.

Thank you!

Hi,

I don't have problems with site content - but I do have problems with this area - WA Blogs. Sometimes, I have to just give up trying to format my headings. On other days it is fine.

Weirdly, I think that this is relatively new - perhaps after one of the updates?

It would be great if this could be solved!

All the best,

Julia

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your well-summarized list of Content creation bugs. I found most of them when writing for my WA Blog. Site Content for WordPress works a tad better. Still, many of the issues you mentioned are there too.

I used to have issues formatting images and placing them. This is tough and go.

Like many, I write my website posts solely within WordPress for several reasons. The main reason is I like to use the features of the Block Editor. I also have a paid version of GeneratePress that provides me with more enhancements. The last reason is related to the deficiencies of the Site Content editor in WA.

The main benefit of using Site Content are the stock post writing templates as well as the tracking of one's posts. However, I have found that these features are not compelling enough to use Site Content, bugs or no bugs.

It would be great to have these bugs fixed for writing posts for my WA Blog though.

Thanks for writing this post.

Edwin

Yay, I just wanted to chime in.

I will be glad to see something new to replace Site Content. I have quit using it altogether and exclusively draft my writing in WordPress. Once you get used to it, it has quirks but not near as bad as Site Content.

Thank you all for bringing up this topic, and it is much appreciated to see that Kyle's team has their eyes on the future.

Regards, Matt

Also, in addition to what was mentioned, when you paste anything, the format automatically skips a line, and I have to backspace the end of sentence to meet up with ither end.

That said, thanks, Kyle, for letting us know there is a new editor in the works.

Rudy

Yeah, there is a lot of frustration with that editor, and lots of editors in general...we are going to have a much better solution coming your way!

Thanks, Kyle.

Rudy

Looking forward to that.

Thanks, Andy! I have not had many of the problems you mention, but I know others who have. My big issue in the past vew weeks is that the auto save wasn't working. I love the editor, and I can see that Kyle has repsonded. Much appreciated!

Jeff

Yes it's a great tool. It's quite exciting to know that something new is coming. Better.

I totally agree, Andy!
