9 Years Clean and Sober
Oh my gosh what an amazing journey the last 9 years have been! Yes some of it has been incredible hard and painful, but NOTHING like the 15 years I spent in active addiction trashing my life.
I have so many people thinking that being in recovery is hard work but the truth is that I only put a small amount of effort into my recovery compared to the amount of time and effort I invested into using drugs, drinking, acquiring money to use, acquiring my drugs and then trying to get myself out of all the trouble I landed myself in.
Today I am filled with gratitude for everything that I have.
My family will always be the thing that is most precious to me and where most of my gratitude lies.
However the last 2 years with Wealthy Affiliate is something that stands out big time for me. Wealthy Affiliate helped to find my passion, it helped me to change my business into something I absolutely love. It helped me to find more time to spend with my family.
As an addict one of the things I struggle with is giving myself enough credit, I struggle to see myself as worthwhile.
This community has built up my self confidence and has shown me just how much I can achieve when I have the resources, support and friendship of like-minded individuals.
This program has showed me how to take the negative of my addiction and turn it into something positive, by blogging about my addiction and creating Youtube videos I can help spread the word of recovery to other addicts and their families.
I have managed to incorporate this into my 12 step program - the 12th step is about spreading the word, sharing your strength, hope and inspiration to help others.
This has made my recovery so much stronger and oh my word, how exciting right?
Today 9 years ago was my first day clean from drugs and alcohol and I felt no hope. I hated myself, I was filled with shame. In all honesty I didn't even want to succeed at anything.
Dark and miserable? Oh yes for sure. But life now is amazing, it is exciting and there is so much to live for.
So.... Happy Sober Birthday to ME!

Congratulations to you today you have nine years and today myself I have 9 months I understand everything you just mentioned making a new life for myself with the fellowship and new friends that I have and life is very good now like you I have corporated the WA program and family in my everyday life work hard at having a new future for myself and family I have a good ladies fashion website it's all coming together and the future looks bright and clear once again congratulations God bless you.
