Hello to all my friends here at Wealthy Affiliate! I know I haven't posted anything here for a while so I thought I would pop in quickly to share my awesome milestone with you all.

Today I am 8 years clean from drugs and alcohol. My road to recovery has been absolutely amazing, bumps and all because without the bumps the smooth road is just not quite as enjoyable is it?

What I have found is that the harder the struggle and the harder you try the bigger the reward when you finally achieve that.

Here is something amazing that I want to share with you all. My journey with Wealthy Affiliate and with my online business has actually made my recovery path easier.

What Wealthy Affiliate has taught me is to be myself at all times, to work hard and believe I can achieve my goals and to have confidence.

Wealthy Affiliate has taught me how to get out of my comfort zone and reach for the stars.

This year 2016 has been the best year of my life so far. Yes, without a doubt.

I have achieved things I just never believed would be possible for me to achieve.

Oh and guess what?? I haven't told many people this yet... but in my goals I was asked to list when I joined Wealthy Affiliate in June 2015, I said in 1 year I wanted to put a deposit down on my own house?

Ok don't get excited, I did NOT achieve that goal in June 2016... yet. But I am on my way to it and we have decided not to buy a house, we have decided to purchase a plot and build our perfect home.

I am in contact with the owner of the plot and the builders already. It looks like perhaps at the end of the year this will become a reality.

I bet you are wondering why on earth I am sharing about a goal I have not achieved yet and the time frame completely out right?

The reason for this is that when I wrote those goals down in all honesty those weren't goals yet. They were only dreams. That was something I wanted so badly but thought I would not have.

So it is late in coming, but so what. That dream will become a reality very soon.

Keep working hard, keep stepping out of your comfort zone and dream big!

Now, that is the kind of stories I want from you. Everything else is in the past and there is not one thing we can do about the past. That is water under the bridge that we can't bring back.... And don't want to.

Keep 'em rollin'. You want be stopped, now.

Congrats on that plot of land and then the dream house.....

Yeah I had some challenges with that and I am not doing that part time job any more due to time constraints. I could be earning so much more, but that would be for other people and not for me and my website.

Well done to you Lynne, your road to recovery is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest and on top of that, you have climbed to the rank of 34 whilst learning, teaching and building your websites.

I tip my hat to you, keep doing what your doing, greater things are just around the corner.

All the best Tommy

1

Thank Tommy :) I was actually in the top 20 LOL but I decided to let that slide recently!

A lovely story of recovery. Indeed whatever the mind can conceive, it can achieve. The recovery is due solely to your determination to change the course of direction of your life for good, and you have not looked back. A big congratulation, million roses and one big hug from me.

Hey Lynne...CONGRATULATIONS ! I too have had an Incredible journey.... celebrated 27 years clean and sober on June 19th....never dreamed at this point in my life that I would have the peace of mind, serenity, relative financial security and above all the faith, trust nd belief in the God Of My Understanding. :-)

Oh WOW, congrats! Keep on doing what you are doing :)

Congratulations Lynne, you should feel extremely proud of yourself that is some achievement, I am so pleased for you. The thing about being up front about things is that you become a role model for folks that are struggling. Well done and blessings to you, that dream house will be a reality before you know it.

1

Thanks Evan, yes I know it will, but the waiting feels long at the time. Until you have it then it feels quick LOL

First of all, I would like to say, congratulations on your 8 years being clean! And for the plot as well:)
I've glued the images of my dream house and the places I plan to travel with my children and my husband on a sheet and look at them every single day:) Just below the pictures, I've written each goal according to the picture. It gives me strength to work hard:)
Great post! Thank you for sharing!

I walk on the plot we want to buy every day with my kids and they play around and tell me where their swing will be, where the slide will be etc. So this keeps me motivated!

You are obviously an amazing and strong woman, Lynne to have been able to do what you have done, with the support that has been all around you. And...yes, you will get there, there is no doubt about that. Congratulations and I pray for nothing but the best for you and your family as you move forward on this journey.

I hope you will keep us posted with info and pics as your GOAL comes to fruition.

1

Thank you Wayne!

Oh yes I will post pictures as soon as I can :) I can post some pictures of the plot because it is just a few houses down from us. Every day we go and walk on it, just to keep the motivation high

Congratulations from one addict alcoholic to another. Proud of you 8 years is an awesome milestone. We can apply all the principals of the program in all areas of our life. I am sure your family Is happy and proud. No easy accomplishment. Keep up the good work and please keep in touch.

1

Thank you! It is a wonderful feeling to have achieved sobriety for so long. Like you say I must just continue to apply the principles of the program like I have been and then I can keep what I have.

Lynne,
I can honestly say through simply reading the many articles especially at your site which deals with substance and other abuse, as well as getting to know you a bit that I do admire you so much!!

I have no comprehension as to what you went through earlier in your life. I once dated a girl back in college who began to have problems with alcohol based on a traumatic event that happened in her life. Being clueless then as a 21/22 year old I failed to realize that by continuing to allow her to talk me into taking my car on trips together to a discount liquor store, (my even allowing her to drive my then brand new car) which after making her beer purchases she then guzzled it down on a daily basis; in fact I was enabling her 100%. I should add in that back then in the U.S. the legal drinking age was 18 years old. This was around 1980. At the time she was 19, going on 20.

I can say that through the intervention of her college roommate plus the girl's parents she began to get the help that she needed - as well as face head-on that incident that happened to her.

Regarding your situation Lynne, all I think I understand is that now being able to face your dark past down that had to be a very important step. With the proper treatment and understanding of how the addictions came to control your life now you are able to go out and help others who have similar issues.

Take care, treat it one day at a time, (I know you've heard of that statement) and keep moving positively forward in your life, Lynne!

Sincerely,
Jeff

2

yes Jeff, One Day At A Time, every day!

Thank you for your kind words, I really appreciate you always being my cheerleader here at WA!

That's truly awesome Lynne! You should be very proud of what you have accomplished. Sharing goals, no matter how lofty, can be great for motivation. Sometimes you need to tell the world of your intentions so that the world will hold you to it :) Let us know when you move into your new dream home , I'm sure it will be amazing.
