Hello well where to start. In the online world i have tried many different things too make money. Have i been successful, not not at all. I have made small amounts but never a return of the investment. Would i like to make money online - absolutely.
I work in a field that i am very passionate about and i believe, with help, i could take it to the online world, help many people, and produce an income for myself.
I am in recovery, and have been for 24 years. I have worked with others for over 20 years. I am an addictions counselor and a member of the Canadian Addiction Counselors Certification Federation. I sit on the advisory counsel to the Addictions Study course at Mount Royal University in Calgary. I am currently employed as counselor and case manager with the Calgary Drug Treatment Court.
I have a private practice as well and coach people in recovery. Many are not close by and the coaching is done on phone, email and text. It does work and could be expanded through this program.

I am married and have two sons and 6 grand children and i should be retired, however i love my work. A busy online program would allow me to continue to help people, make a living and semi retire. I would like that.

Hi Peter,

Your recently posted a link to your website and blog post on the wall of one of my referrals.

Here in WA, spam is a BIG no no.

Here are the guidelines from Kyle:

Sorry I didn't see what i was doing as spam but i see it likely is - a thought for the day seems to be enjoyed by some regular people and posting it on my web site likely the same - I am certainly not trying to promote or gain anything by doing that.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

Some thoughts for you, Peter.
Some of your posts remind me of some ideas that have served me well in my life. They are best stated, I believe, by H W Wordsworth in his poem "A Psalm of Life":

Tell me not in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
And things are not what they seem.

also:

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;

Footprints, that perhaps another,
sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.

What you are doing sometimes raises my thoughts to a higher level, which is a kind of poetry all its own!

Hi! sounds to me like you're just the person for this type of program. You've pretty much already got a great niche to follow. Just take your current job online and blog about the things you've learned from your work which can help people in need of specific kinds of recovery help! Even ways to prevent the problems in the first place! Go through the program set up your website/youtube page and start blogging then ask people on here to visit the page and comment! This will help your site rank up faster and hopefully you'll by then have links to products people can use to bring about a better quality of life! I know you can do this! You're already doing it day to day, just take it online! Good luck!

Thank you for following me and I will look forward to following your ongoing WA journey. You are clearly making a difference to the lives of others and have been for many years and I congratulate you for that very worthy use of your time. I'm new to online business but know from life experience that there are no free lunches in life. The good thing about the pursuit of an online business is that they don't require much capital, that you get to to connect with other people and that the retirement option isn't all that stimulating, if retired people I've spoken to are a guide.

PSheridan. Small pice of advice. This new world of the internet is
An amazing world. But it also full of scammers who can sell you
The world in a silver plate . Here you have a community and you can feel their minds talking. That is something that this new generation are losing. We don't talk now we chat we don't look to others faces or eyes. We look and write in a phone. Technology is doing all that changes my hope is to keep ourselves with enough love to sher to all human being.

I enjoyed reading your post and can see that you are passionate about helping people. I have family members with addictions and all I can do is pray for them, so folks like you are very important.
I am new to online marketing, but not new to marketing - began with direct mail, became a copywriter and owned a network marketing company for ten years.
Having said that, I am watching the internet grow and know that a living an be made with just about any niche thanks to the huge numbers of people (billions) online.
I too have a passion to help people, and I love to write. My passion is not the same as yours, but no matter, you and I need to make a living "first" online, before setting up our website or Blog that feeds our passion.
Take a look at how people are earning the most money online and use their strategies as a "template" for your "bread and butter", find a way to make the income you need to live the way you want, then...
Create the online program that feeds your passion.
Hope this helps!

Here in my country we do have marijuana nicknamed Niugini Gold (one of the best drugs on the trading route with the west) and it acquired this name because of its high quality narcotic content. Most teenagers are actually addicted with this drug, they (teenagers) resort to drugs and create daily social problems in the country. I think the problem here is unemployment, the government should provide descent jobs to actually reduce the problem. Providing jobs is not the only solution, there are other alternatives that the government can also look at to curb this problem. I know that we can not totally eradicate the problem, since Niugini Gold has an illegal trading route already established with the west. You have all the state of the art security systems installed at the major international airports, but what about the submarines.

It is a give and take community, I also gave it back (followed you)

Thanks PS,

I hope the drug situation in Calgary is not like it is here in Sydney.
Rampart. The brain frying ice is a major problem.
Apparently according to the experts - ice is the worst drug of all cause it burns the receptors in the brain unlike other drugs that distort the receptors?
I have seen some kids walking around the streets off chops to the point where their brains won't be coming back.
It's sad and frustrating because it is everywhere.
We see it everyday, day after day, but police don't neither do politicians. Very frustrating because I strongly believe they could keep it within 12 months or less.

Anyway keep up the good work and I wish you all the very best.

Hi Mr. P., if I might call you that-I'm Alice. You have a very full life going for you. I can see how you might want something else after all this time in your profession. I'm a newbie as I've said a few times already. I'm a mother, wife and grandmother plus I stay home and tend my chickens, ducks and two cats. My husband is away all the time because its either work or lose the farm. :) So when my young renter told me about the affiliate program I came here and am so happy I did. I can interact with people without smelling them... I am allergic to every odor you can imagine- and here at the WA community, I can interact with everyone who says hello in the community. I look forward to interacting with you as you journey toward new goals and watch as your dream of more family time and a boost to your budget becomes reality. Thank you for following along as well. Alice

You can call or keep in touch at all times. Sorry to hear about your struggles - but you are working to get through them. We have been through our share over the years as well and that is part of the reason I am still working at age 68. Hopefully that will change soon. Thanks for you kind words and sharing a bit about yourself

PSheridan, I think what you are trying to do will work under the guidance of Wealthy Affiliate. In the short time I've been involved, WA certainly seems to have our best interests at stake. Most of the other ventures I've tried online took my money, and only got back to me when they had something new to sell me! Best of luck to you!

Hello PSheridan, Thank you for the following.
That's a very Irish name you have there unlike the mustache. it looks great.I believe it's called 'the handlebar' as it resembles a set of fruity bicycle handlebars. The Handlebar mustache combines dignity, sophistication and an air of flamboyant rebellion. The ends are for twigging when thinking about or announcing your plans!!
I like all different styles. Good Look with your plans and I wish you the best in 2017.

Thanks for following my progress. I just retired at age 70 last October 2016 and joined the WA Community 2nd week of December 2016. WIth my financial and accounting background, can't believe with the support of the community especially the founders Kyle and Carson, I'm on track to have an online eCommerce business. Will be able to finish Level 2 Training on or before end of Jan. 2017. I was in Calgary a few Years back and attended the annual North American Conference of Grand Masters. Beautiful place and a lot of snow.

I joined WA the same time as you and am enjoying all the activities, but as yet, have not made any money. Signed up for another year and definitely expect to monetize my website this year. I am going through all the training for a second time as my memory is not as good as it use to be.

Would like to meet in person with a group of local WA members, but have yet to fine even one here in Edmonton. Perhaps we should try and organize a yearly get togeather for Albertans. I would like to, but am pretty sure I will not qualify for the WA yearly Vegas trip for a few years to come.

I certainly appreciate the value and challenges of your work, being an individual with an addictive personality. Am presently watching "Mad Men" replays on TV and beginning to realize just how much drinking and smoking I did back in the 1960's. It was totally acceptable and I was right in there with the rest of them. Luckily I hit bottom and quite smoking and only have the odd beer now.

I look forward to meeting you some day for a coffee.

Regards,
Roger in Edmonton

PSheridan, thank you for following me. You are amazingly wonderful to be so passionate about helping others. It is awesome to give back after winning your own battle with such a ferocious disease called addiction. This is a well needed area where assistance is needed for so many out there. I am a registered nurse for over 25 years and knows first hand your value. You bring to the table a wealth of knowledge, resources and a very high level of connection to one who is struggling with addiction. Being a person who has lived it, feel it, knows it, and experience the pain of addiction and withdrawal and has prevailed... will only make the world a better place. Keep up the awesome work!

Thanks for the follow. Sounds like a great plan. I am an RN with a Masters degree in psychology and have worked most of my life in behavioral health. I have not worked specifically with addiction but am very much interested still in psych. I just started another website related to nurses needing support which is sadly lacking. Maybe we will cross paths in the future as our interests seem to be similiar. Good luck.

Peter, I love your profile--well, I love your dedication to what you do. I have a friend who runs a small nonprofit in Utah that supports Drug Court participants and their families with their legal needs and recovery education. It's such important work! I've done some writing for him that's made me aware of the opiate epidemic in a deeper way than I was before. Addiction awareness (any addiction) is so important, and spreading recovery opportunity is a great cause. I commend you. . . . And I'm happy to be in your network, as well.

Thank you Theresa - the opiate epidemic is huge and is killing people every day - not sure how it is down there but our governments talk about it a lot but don't put a lot of money into it. We could serve a lot more people if we had more funding. As you would know its cheaper to treat addicts than it is to keep them in jail. But treating them doesn't satisfy the touch on crime folks.
Keep up your good work as well and say hi to your friends who support the drug court there - Drug Court Works without a doubt.

We could sure use your help here in KW, Ontario. I can't walk the short distance downtown without seeing at least half a dozen persons with addiction issues who need help. There are several methodone clinics which I'd never heard of where I used to live for 50+ years - a very small town so this has been a n eye opener. I don't understand the clinics enough to know if they are a help or not. I moved here because my grown children went to university in this area and then made it their home. It is a real tech town with Google and Blackberry head offices so it is quite a melting pot. To live here and not see the problem would mean you must never come out of your house. So sad.
Anyway, thank you for the follow!

Addictions are a much bigger problem than a lot of people realize. They are to epidemic proportions, and the drugs these days are killing many people. Methadone has its purpose and helps many people. The pain of withdrawal from Heroine is so bad many people will choose to stay high and not go through it. Methadone helps with that. Thanks for your comments.

Dear PSheridan,

My daughter works as a nursing assistant and there is great scope for skype consultations. You need a website and ranking on google and business development coaching. There is a great future for the development of business in the medical field. Keep at it. With WA, you are with the right people. You probaby have to do some more research. Website building is probably the most important problem to solve. The website should be attractive and eye-catching.
