Check Your Links Regularly!

I know I haven't been around much so I thought I would pop in today for an update.
Checking your links is something you should do once a month. I haven't been doing this and I just found 26 broken links on my site.
It took me 2 hours to get them removed because the page kept becoming unresponsive, so frustrating!
My own fault really because I should have been checking more often!
The traffic to my site is still going in the upward direction which is a great feeling. Although I have 400 posts it is still nowhere near where I thought it would be.
I'm checking out a tool to use to help me more with SEO it is called Surfer Seo hoping that is going to help me to improve my posts by offering semantic keywords and other analyses. Will have to wait and see what happens.
One of the best decisions I have ever made was going yearly. Not only did it save me from the pressure of paying monthly but it also gave me a chance to breathe for 12 months at a time.
This is my 3rd year here and has been the most exciting so far.
If you are sitting on the fence about going premium or premium + wait until 6th June to upgrade because there is going to be a flash sale that will save you a lot of money.
My Youtube channel is getting regular views even though I haven't been that consistent with it.
Now to knuckle down and get more done in the available time.

Thank you for letting us know. Checking links is very important for the health of any niche website.
I check them on a regular basis. Just a few days ago, I discovered I had two broken links (which are now fixed). So doing that every month or so does help.
Not only that, but it can be an SEO disaster for your website. So broken links need to be avoided whenever possible.

We are in Spain at the moment and after a very pleasant couple of days here after we arrived.... there is a brutally chilly wind doing the rounds today! The pool time was short lived!

Sorry to hear about your internet problems there, when I lived in Spain they were a very common occurrence so I feel your pain!

It's good to hear from you, it's also great that this year has been the most exciting for you. It's great that you have been writing so much and seeing results.
I have used a plug-in in the past called broken link checker which allowed me to any broken links. I appreciate that it is something that needs to be carried out regularly.
Why was the page unresponsive, Lisa, is that due to an Internet problem or hosting issue?

I'm not sure why the page was unresponsive but I got it done eventually.
It is not that hot yet only in the high 20's so still bearable.

I often say to my wife how short the winter would be in Greece for an Englishman! Although they do kind of have a winter, they have the blue skies which make such a difference!

I check for broken links about each and every day of every year that goes by. It is a never-ending process because I have roughly 2000 external links just on one website. All total, I likely have 4000 external links on all websites combined.
And broken links will send your visitors to other websites in an instant.

Hiya can I ask, should one go back to old posts whilst building content in training and add links as some content I have recommended products, but was not an affiliate yet,?

The advice on the links is spot on. I have a lot of posts on my website so I have developed a method. Every time I work on my website (as many days a week as I can!), I go to a past post and read it over. I often find bad links, misspellings, unclear passages or awkward phrases. And, as I learn more about SEO, I know better how to make these posts rank better and can make adjustments.
When I first started this, I started with my very first post, then went to the second, third, etc. This way I can be sure that I (eventually) see them all.
Perk? My website traffic has gone up considerably. Apparently, Google notices and rewards those who update old posts. Who knew?

I do mine regularly when they get to 6 months old.
