Overcoming jaded...

Yes, it is hard to keep an open mind in this information age. Distrust is almost ingrained in our genes after centuries of battling to survive.

Recently, another member promoted a website with a quirky blog idea generating tool based on a simple keyword search. Mistrust stepped in and there was cynicism as to the motives of the poster who quickly defended himself. The defence rang true to me. Sure we don’t have time to try it all or latch on to every new idea, but this one resonated with me as something that could add value. I like fresh ideas and I like quirky, things this tool was said to deliver. So I took the plunge, decided to believe what I was reading and what a great decision! A gem of a tool in a sea of ideas clamouring for attention. But how do you pick these and still have time to read the kids a bedtime story? How do you keep cynicism at bay so the good things filter in and brighten our day?

These words from Bobby Kennedy's eulogy for JFK reflect an attitude: "Some people see things as they are, and say why? I dream things that never were, and say why not?". It's about keeping an open mind for things that resonate with you and acting on your intuition. At the end of the day we are all promoting something, trying to sell something to improve our own and our families lives so if you distrust something, move on, let the temptation pass you by without too much thought. Time spent attacking and judging could be time spent uncovering a gem that creates a little bit more joy for you. Enjoy collecting your gems:)

That's one reason I check things out, even though I've become jaded and cynical. You just never know when or where you'll pick up that one gem. It just recently happened to me. So glad I got to it before my delete finger got there. Sometimes it's exhausting just reading and weeding through everything. Very good blog. Thank you.

"so if you distrust something, move on, let the temptation pass you by without too much thought.". This reminded me of all those shiny object emails I receive from time to time in my inbox. "I dream things that never were, and say why not?". Words of wisdom indeed. Thank you for your blog today. I learned a lot from it.

Share the gem with us who missed it. Please!

Hello, see post below:)

This reminds me of something. Check this out, I found it at niche site dual 2.0:

That's the one!

I agree with you. there are many people like you. but... the people that did question, brought out a discussion and the person was able to defend if which may help more people make a informed decision. So both attitudes are good. this brought out some points so all can see.

Thanks for sharing have a great day.
