Annoying Optin forms

This was driving me nuts really crazy! It was a big problem.

I have tried having sign up forms before with mailchimp, they never seemed to work. Or rather I didn't do them right.

Today I have signed up to Aweber but could not see any little discreet form to stick in the sidebar. Landing pages and a big sign up form. Nothing small.

Looked about, something about other integrations.... siiiigh!

Clicked on a few and clicked away when they wanted paying. Found a free one .... talk about complicated!

Why can't they simplify these things and have clear step by step instructions.

All I wanted was: do this, then that, then that and done.... magically appear on my site.

Nope!

Following instructions, I end up with a big form over the header, then the same in the footer when I changed it. Did look weird I have to say.

Instructions were to put the code between the body tags. Well that definitely Didn't work.

Then I had a light bulb moment.

Yes I do get them occasionally as I blunder around.

It was code so I could put it in a widget!

Genius right?

So I did. It worked but the words weren't right.

That bulb had shone brightly for a while, then dimmed.

Back to the form.

Back and forth, altering the wording, altering the size of the sidebar. Arrrgh!

Back to the form!

Spotted I could adjust the width, tried that a million times! (that may be a slight exaggeration)

I was ready to give up. Was going to write this piece as a cry for help.

Solution

But I am stubborn. I tried again. Looked about, tried different forms and finally, yes FINALLY, with a few more adjustments I got one that worked on the page and all the words are in the right place. Well it's only the site title by the time I kept removing words so it didn't split them in the middle.

Does it actually work to collect emails you ask?

I don't know, I am afraid to click on it in case it doesn't and I cry all over my computer and the sheer volume of water makes it short out. Damaged beyond repair...... for ever! Sob!

Hmmmm ..... I like that, it's pretty dramatic. Okay now I am laughing.at my own silliness.🤣

I did it though. Only took me 4 hours & that's not including the joining up to Aweber bit, lol.

It is finally on my new site, the only one to have a sign up form. In the coming days I will have to start adding them to the others but not now. Its getting late and the work I should have been doing is still waiting. Ooops.

So everyone who has and still is struggling to set up something to collect emails, it is doable. I know because I finally did it.

Oh and I joined up to the new FREE version of Aweber! Yay!!

EDIT: I actually made a landing page AND ..... wait for it! I followed instructions and migrated it to my website that is via Aweber too. Why did I not know this before?

Oh, I am not affiliated with them ....... at least ..... not yet, lol.
