You Don't have to See the Whole Staircase, Just take the First Step

I've been thinking a lot about Kyle and Carson's 12 Year Success Journey detailed in Kyle's latest post:

A Dozen Years Later The Future Has Never Looked So Good

Incredible what they have achieved with Wealthy Affiliate in 12 Years and how they are always innovating, always striving to give MORE and do MORE for their members.

Imagine if they had given up after a year or two?

Imagine where OUR WEBSITES will be if we have the same ethos of helping others and we go the distance.

What will your online business look like in 12 Years time?

You don't have to answer that...

Do you think Kyle and Carson knew exactly where they would be in 12 years? Exactly what they would have accomplished?

I think not.

Their business unfolded organically, naturally, over time.

Kyle and Carson noticed what online entrepreneurs needed most at each stage along their journey and fulfilled those needs. One by one.

So my advice is this:

On those days when it all seems overwhelming and you think you might give up...

Take heart. In time all trees bear fruit.

Just take the first step and then the second and the third. And keep at it for 12 years.

The late, great honorable Reverend Martin Luther King said it best...

You Don't Have to See the Whole Staircase, just take the first Step.

Beautifully inspiring Lauren! Thanks! That is how I have been feeling lately since I was sick and busy and didn't have time to work on my site. I missed the Monday post last week for Michael's challenge and don't have one done for today yet either! I am falling behind which is a shame since I was doing so well. It feels like 1 big, great step forward and then 6 steps backward.

I know it will all work out in the end though and my posts are rising in the Google ranks so that is all that really matters.

Ooh Jessica, please don't be hard on yourself. You are doing greeeeeat. You are moving forward even when you think you aren't. Always think big picture, with the end in mind. Wiil this (or any minor setback) matter in a year or two?
And yes... you are so right... its fab that you're moving up in the google ranks and fab that you're focusing on the positives.

Thanks Lauren, great advice! Very true words!

Thanks Natalie. :)

Well said. Love the comparison.

Thanks Michel. Glad you enjoyed.

Awesome! Thank you for this inspiring post!

Thanks for your enthusiasm Daniella!

Kyle and Carson are definitely an inspiration and a force to be reckoned with...in a good way!!

Agree wholeheartedly, Tammi! :)

How do you build a nautilus Lauren? Chamber by chamber!

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Wise words from MLJ and yourself! Many thanks, Sue :)

Aw, thanks Sue. You always say the sweetest things. :)

Great advice!! When you dream big you think big and the how will come.

Have a great weekend!

Agree wholeheartedly, Elizabeth

Thanks Lauren, as a Planner, you know that you may never see the whole staircase but your plan is that staircase with the vision at the top. That first step is so crucial to living your dream.

Aah, interesting Harvey. And you are so right, the first step is often the most crucial step. Making the decision and taking action.

I would, because of my training put one step in between, strategize or develop a plan, then take action. That plan should be the steps (goals) towards your vision. Dr King Jr.'s saying is a twist on an ancient one that says "The longest journey starts with the first step."
