What is the Amazon Niche Site Formula?
What do you know... I just received my very first Amazon Associates Gift Card.
For those of you who don't know the Amazon Affiliate Program very well, if you don't live in the States, Amazon either sends you a cheque (once you've earned over $100) or a Gift Card (once you've earned over $10).
The Beauty of Affiliate Marketing
Now I am well aware that $17.06 in Affiliate Commission is not fortunes. I also know that many Wealthy Affiliate members have made way more than this... but I am stoked.
It was such a nice surprise to receive the email today. Especially as I haven't focused on Amazon for months.
So I looked a little deeper into my reports.
It appears that virtually every product I've ever sold has been because of a post I did on my Breastfeeding site comparing two different types of Supplemental Nursing Systems to Induce Lactation. I get clicks on other Amazon links on my sites, but not sales.
I published the post in September 2016.
- My first sale was only in July 2017 - commision was $2.52
- I made sales again in November 2017 - commission was $6.46
- I made 5 Sales in January 2018 - commission was $8.08
Slowly, as my site's authority and traffic increases, my sales and commission have been increasing. I also created one of my absolute favourite Pinterest pins for this post and the pin continues to be one of my most popular.
What amazes me is that we can create a post months or even years ago that can generate sales for years to come.
And if we can do it once, we can do it again.
This is true Passive Income.
Do the work once and get paid over and over.
And if we can make $17 in PASSIVE INCOME, we can make $170 or $1700 or $17,000. In time.
What is the Amazon Niche Site Formula?
It proves a few things we are taught at Wealthy Affiliate all the time:
- Create a Niche Site (on something you're passionate about)
- Find out what challenges and problems your audience is experiencing
- Write posts that offer solutions or address challenges
- Recommend products that solve the problem
- Review products in your niche
- Comparitive reviews of products work particularly well
Another interesting thing is this - I always thought that to succeed with any Affiliate Program you could only sell products you have personally used.
However... here's the thing...I never used either of the products I reviewed in this post myself.
How I Became an Authority on Products I Never Used
- I did loads of online research on the subject.
- I interviewed Adoptive Moms who had induced lactation to feed their adopted babies
- I interviewed a Lactation Consultant who could explain the product properly to me.
So, essentially, I became an authority on the product through research.
But I am no expert. I'm just a BEGINNER Amazon Associate... So...

Hi Lauren, you could sign up with Payoneer to receive payments via a USA bank account. It is easy to set up and doesn't cost anything.

Oh wow, Anke. I did not know that.Thanks for sharing. I actually applied for a Payoneer card months ago but it has never arrived in the post so I haven't been able to activate it.
How do I fill out all Amazon's tax forms? Amazon seem quite clear that they will only pay by direct deposit if you are a US resident.
Hi Lauren, I can't remember that I had to fill in a tax form. All I did was changing the payment option to direct debit and put in the account number I received from Payoneer.

Congrats!!! I love the amazon program - genius link is awesome, as it means I can make sales from other countries. Even though I’m in the UK, I make the most from Amazon USA. I find it’s pretty easy to make amazon sales, even with pretty low traffic- so, I always recommend it for beginners. It’s how I made my first sales online. :)

I also use Genius Links but I think all my sales are coming from the US so far as well.
That was interesting that you never tried the products youself but research was enough for you to be confident they work.
I've found myself that reviews aren't worth much. I bought a juicer on a review and it is a piece of junk. I don't feel like buying every juicer around however I have used one for a couple of years that was very good before it burnt out.

Oh goodness, Jae. Sorry to hear about your juicer experience. Juicers are a tricky purchase. My worst is when they are too tricky to disassemble and clean. Hope you have a great experience the next time you choose a reviewed product.

Hi Lauren. I use Amazon as my primary affiliate so far and I love it. I get those gift cards every month or two now. It is great! I buy a ton of stuff on Amazon anyway so the gift card balance is used right away for purchases of my supplements, cat food, cat litter, cat supplements etc. It is so handy!
I would just recommend to others to make sure you find the best keywords possible and use them as your post titles. Try keywords such as "Best...", "Review of...", "What is the best...", "Solution for..." etc. etc. and use whichever one is the best.
