Are WA Members “suckers”?

Please Excuse This But I Need To Share This

Please excuse this negative sounding title. But it specifically relates to a friend of mine who it seems has dropped out of WA. Obviously, I do not think we are suckers but simply reflects his lack of determination, drive and frankly laziness to deliver a successful result. His email in part, sounded a bit deluded. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy!

Grateful For Your Thoughts and Feedback

I would, however, be grateful for your thoughts and feedback on his comments (health warning, it’s very negative and full of misunderstandings as to how Affiliate Marketing works, something I patiently tried to explain before) as I would like at some point (when I have calmed down), to give him a considered reply. His key points were as follows:

One Born Every Minute?

“Don't they say there is one born every minute? Didn't you realise the Whole of WA is employed by Amazon on an unpaid basis. Better still you pay WA to be premium member. Not everyone can be a winner here. To me no investment business is worth the risk unless you already have a return. And any business investment is a loan that has be fully repaid. Otherwise, It's just a hobby.”

“But you haven't just been suckered, you been NOS'd “Now Officially Suckered But by the very best of course. Amazon...”

Gullible?

“BUT Some times it's good to be gullible though and swept along with the crowd. I don't think it's done you any harm. You picked up some web skills, your website is reasonable and your written content is far better than mine could be.”

Sales Pressure Selling Techniques

“Me? I always keep one eye on the Hydrometer and the motivational tools being used against me. You know they make excellent selling tools in a little niche I like to term ' American Pressure selling techniques.'”

AMAZON Puppet Masters

“WA or should I say the Amazon puppet masters have been very masterful here. They get you to write down what you live on, what you really want and what you prepared to do for it. But then instead the classic. Do you want a dream income? YES. Have got what it takes? oh YES... Do you want to be a member of this exclusive success club? OH YES QUICK sign me up. Then pay just $50 a month. OR Just OK this document in the next 10 Sec and I give you a stunning one off unrepeatable discount, no pressure. Oh, er, well I am sure I will eventually make the money up somehow after all, I have just committed to achieve my dream income.”

New Premium Members & Like Minded People

“But the Amazon WA franchise is smarter than using the Yes technique. They highlight every new premium member and connect you up with like-minded individuals who are thinking of joining and leave the rest to your herding instinct to jump and try to cross a river. Some drown, some will swim. It's shame a just bunch of sour grapes and know when the herd is being manipulated. Until I know what this model will sustain income I will not invest in it.”

Diversifying Away From Amazon

“But you already have some of this don't you? Because you have told me of where you think your weak links are. Your Dependency on Amazon. You already twigged after just a few months that you need to diversify your Affiliation links.”

Amazon Created WA & Wordpress is the most Hackable

“The thing I admire about Amazon, is the clever bit. Instead of employing a vast crowd of Web Dev teams to push amazon products. They create WA and get all of you to train and support yourselves by awarding credits for free. Why? Because web dev stuff changes the fastest of all IT. While the back-end data models hardly evolve. I Will flag up that Wordpress is the most hackable out of all PHP framework languages, especially if it drifts too far out of date. WA is already starting to drift in its PHP versions.

Free Website

“BUT The big redeeming feature of WA is they are providing me a with a ltd Wordpress powered website for FREE, I mean for FREE nobody else I know does this. It's a really smart move by Amazon. The Really clever stuff is that if you website affiliates to a non Amazon site. Amazon are probably analysing this data to see how they can plug the gaps.

Take Care, L”

Back now to Trevor, your bouncy, friendly, determined and happy WA member! 😊

Grateful For Your Thoughts

Frankly, the full email was far more rambling and negative, the reference to “hobby” really angered me as this is far from my mindset. Frankly with such an attitude, he has no place being in WA. But I would be grateful for your thoughts on how I might respond. What would you say? 1 or 2 thoughts welcome. Any suggestions "to turn his attitude round" would also be welcome.

I`m Slowly But Surely Succeeding

I am slowly but surely starting to see results and my first website is starting to mature. I`m here for the long-haul and I`m determined to make my sites a success.

My own mindset is one based on some advice from a member I particularly admire:

darrennicolaand highlighted in this blog:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/latinnomad/blog/advice-for-newbies-on-wa

Consistency & Be Dedicated

And taken from a blog I recently read:

Give it your best shot. Consistency. Because it has a ton of potential if you’re dedicated”.

I`m dedicated and absolutely determined.

He who says it can`t be done, don`t stop the person doing it”.

I`m doing it and I know so many of you are too.

Some people just want to burn an opportunity before they fail at it. This way they don’t have to internalize a failure. Hard to put in hours of work believing in yourself without gratification or rewards. Takes longer to figure out if you are going to fail than a brick and mortar store. It takes a certain type of person to make long goals work out and no real sense in trying to make a penguin fly. Success here is a mindset and some just don’t have the tools. If they aren’t willing to do the grind it may be best to put your energy into people who are willing to grind with you and let your success speak louder for you than your words ever could.

Be careful that you don’t let them talk you into a failure as well. Some people want to validate their failure by pointing at others as an example when you could make it just fine if you continue to grow, learn, and act!

Thank you Waldmann. Sound advice. Im no quitter! Im here for the long haul. & am succeeding.

Have a great day.

Trevor

When I was younger I purchased an expensive set of Golf Clubs, the professional assured me my game would improve beyond belief, my handicap would go from 26 to “scratch” . ....it didn’t improve and my handicap remained exactly the same. This had a lot to do with me not increasing my practice and in fact only playing when it was sunny.
Taking your friends perspective, swapping Golf Clubs for WA would indicate the fault be with the clubs and absolutely nothing to do with my game, and should the clubs be better and fit for purpose then my game would be brilliant, and in fact (still using your friends analogy) only the very few would benefit from such a club but the rest of humanity would be doomed to play badly because the clubs are expensive and not fit for purpose......actually the clubs are a red herring because without practice, motivation and consistency you are going nowhere (even if they were Tiger Woods very own)

He sounds like a bit of a pillock and not worth the headspace

Spot on Cordelia! Thank you for the smile.

Great point! I am an excellent pianist. I had talent, opportunity (years of piano lessons) and a piano. These were granted to me.

I used them practice practice practice daily for years! Performed a lot too.

This would be like I am a poor pianist and blame the piano!

I may be way off on this, but from my personal interactions, the most financially successful people on here usually avoid Amazon because of the poor return, competition, and draconian TOS. Plus the company clearly doesn't care one bit about its marketers.

I get that a lot of us probably try Amazon out and a lot of us make $0 in return. That of course creates a lot of links out there. However, most of them are from low scoring websites because we move on. I also deleted all my old Amazon pages. I'd think that would actually hurt Amazon or have no effect in the end.

Now if he wants to say that Amazon has created an overwhelming hold on the overall field of affiliate and influencer marketing, I think he has a point. Everyone wants a piece of that pie. However, most people that are willing to learn in here find out that there are better ways.

Also AWS cloud servers are simply some of the best you can find.

Idiotzon fouled up again so I cancelled that order and found an upgrade elsewhere.

Your time, above all else, is valuable Trevor. Personally (and it took me a long time to be able to do this) I wouldn't even bother to put together a well thought out reply.
Trying to sift through all the misinformation and then having to justify the unjustifiable, is a thankless task and one not worthy of your time.
If you need a reply, then I'd go with:

"Sorry to see you go, take care, bye"

Thank you Twack.

Always very welcome.
