I have been watching my stats. I notice that the impressions are much lower than my clicks. I was given to believe that impressions were the number of times that my ad was displa

Well guess that's good to know sense I'm just starting out thanks for asking the ?

Impressions suck, I wish I would of searched this before I spent 1.58 for 18,496 impressions, and only 1 click.

Yeah, you can disregard the "impressions" aspect within the affiliate stats. The real focus is on unique visitors to conversions, that is the overall conversion rate that you are getting.

Hope this clarifies, but yeah you can ignore impressions because impressions are not tracked for affiliate links, this is typically a "banner" or a PPC ad topic which means that someone has seen it but not necessarily clicked it.

Thanks for clearing the air about impressions. I'm sure I'll use it in the near future. So I take it you want to know how many "clicks" an ad gets to see If your ad is effective.
On the lighter side, what do you see to tell you how many "sales" you've made... A POP. lol
My attempt at being funny. Thank you
Steve M. Risley

Sooo impressions are the value representing the amount of people who have access to clicking on some sort of hyperlink that leads to a conversion when clicked on?

I saw a chat post that Kyle did. I there he stated that the impressions was related to PPC. So this number is not valid for the WA stats.

Now I don't understand why I'm getting any impressions at all as I'm not currently doing any PPC promotions.

That can't be 0_o

I didn't know this was possible! Yoohoo for all the clicks you're getting but I'm curious to know why so few impressions???

Where are you advertising...Google, Yahoo, Bing, Miva....where?

At least your getting impressions I never have any impressions just a shitload of clicks sometimes 100 a day. It don't make any sense I would love to get an answer on this.

Hi Craig,

Could people be double clicking the ad? e.g. 1 impression causing a double click...? what's the ratio in terms of the difference between metrics...? Having this info may help us work out the issue a bit better....

Probably not, Impressions 42 Clicks 692

Can't wait to see the answer to this one! Interesting.

How would you change this site to help with conversions. http://insightsintointernetmarketing.com/

Hey labman...part of my back-story is the amount of time I spent in sales....the very first thing on my very first day that my sales manager told me was "Neale ya gotta sell the SIZZLE not the STEAK.....hope that helps some...

Would just advise everyone to put some sort of insight in as many conversations as possible to give people a broader pool of information to get support from

Hey, good job. I didn't realize the Weaver II theme was so adaptable. I like it. Just wondering if the order of your "Insights Into" tab should match the order of the "Insights Into" sidebar. I was going back and forth trying to figure out if there was different content in each. Good job, very impressive. You're further along than I am but I will take up the challenge:)

The content is the same only the order is changed. This uses a plugin called the FlexiPages Widget. The same thing can be done with a custom menu and a Text Widget.

Hi there Labman---thanks for inviting us into your online space. Couple thoughts:

On the About Me page.

You know the truism: people gotta know you, like you, trust you? What I've always liked about you on WA is your dedication to your dogs, the S and R, the therapy dogs. So lose the first paragraph about electrical engineering. I didn't understand a word of the tech-talk there, and since I am on your page to learn about you and internet marketing---stick to it. I know electrical engineering is a part of you, but the dogs are much more human LOL.

Your homepage. Lose the whole first paragraph and the depressing photo of men in a breadline black and white. Start with something upbeat---something that keeps your reader on the page . Those who bounce can never convert. Photo in color.

The late/great Gary Halbert wrote about headlines: tell your reader you've got news here that brings a real benefit (and name the benefit specifically ) to them-----but in the headline, don't tell what you've got for them. Grab them with the headline, so they will want to read further to find out what you have in store. Headlines like "alternatively employed" and "online income" don't cut it. Trying "online income for you" comes a tiny bit closer but still wouldn't cut it. See how it's still too passive?

You posts on WA have a informal, wyswyg style that says Hey, this is Labman ! I'd love to see more of that on your website. Since you do that in your postings here, i know you can do that on your site.

when i get my website ready for comments, I look forward to hearing from you and any/all of our compatriots here at WA. Terrific team.

Thanks, those are some really good suggestions. I'm still trying to assimilate the headline things. Guess I should go back and read my own posts. It is easy to talk about something but can be hard to put it into practice.

I poked around a bit and changed the look a bit this morning. Modified my header mostly but reworded a couple of posts.
Keep the suggestions coming, I'm going to be tweaking this as the Bootcamp progresses.

Hi Craig, I am too new to know. I kind of get the feeling of your keywords on the Article Marketing page and only read that one and the home page. For the home page I am not sure if your title is the keyword. My sense is that your content is very powerful because is very honest and not pushy. So far the most elegant way I´ve seen WA been advertised. Hope you get your conversion soon. Sorry I didn´t really respond. :)

I have a few conversions, they are much lower than I think they should be. Thanks for the reply. I have been playing with titles. I will need to refine the content around the titles that I settle with.

just joined 3 hours ago were can I find your web sites?

In the right margin of the profile page are a couple of them. Scroll down a bit and you will see them.

I wonder the same thing about my site I did for a WA promotion, I thought it would convert, I thought it was a good site for that but no sign ups....must admit I have stopped work on it for some time now.....not sure where it is sitting right now......maybe I never put enough into it....not sure....

I did get traffic but....maybe not enough traffic....????????

but I do wonder at times the best way to get conversions.....that is the hard part.....I will keep reading and take note....after I finish my campaign I am working on now maybe I can resurrect my site.....

http://earninganincome.org

Curious... where is your traffic coming from? Hopefully not only from WA. ;)

This site had a few issues and has been moved to OnlineLabGuy.com It is currently being reworked.

Hi Craig, I'm happy you can share your site with us. I know it can be nerve racking to wonder what criticisms people will have of what you've worked on so hard!

In a nutshell, I thought your layout and writing style were great. Short, simple, and to the point. You have a very natural narrative, and don't pussy-foot around. Good stuff. Great menus, and easy to read text.

Ideas that may improve conversions.

1. Change the header image. The text an color scheme is fine, but I'm not sure what that orb is, or how it relates to internet marketing. Maybe change it to a globe? Or a digital something? It also looks a bit pixel-y, which may give the impression of your website being out-of-date.

2. You have 2 WA banners right next to each other. Maybe you can change the one on your home page that doesn't explicitly have the WA logo. You can still highlight that it's now free, and either choose an image to do with 'surprise' or affiliate marketing to illustrate the point.

3. I would add more impressive images to your content. While the screen shots and banners are descriptive and make your point, you could get some high quality images that support your content at a royalty free photo website like Canstockphoto. The other images you currently have are good, and relevant, but they could be better.

Other than than, I can see that you've taken in the training here. It's funny to see parts of the site where I can look at it an say, "Yeah, I learned how to do that too." Will you be using this site for the WA bootcamp?

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions about the comments I've made

Thanks, I know that my images are a bit strained. I have been adding them and am trying to avoid paying for images at this point but this may be a necessary evil at this point.

Adjusted the WA images to correct the Banner overusage. I agree I don't need more than 1 banner at a time.

Here is my feedback for your site:

(1) Your home page, the headline is "Home". If that doesn't put your audience to sleep, I am not sure what will. You need to captivate people right away upon them coming to your site and you should not have a Home title called home, rename your page to something more interesting than that. Same goes for the other Headlines, make them captivated, use some verbs. Online Income doesn't cut if for me.

(2) Tell stories, relevant stories. Don't promote. I feel like you are trying to sell something to me right away. Nobody likes going to a used car lot the same way nobody likes to be treated like this when they visit your site. Your content is pretty good, but make your promotions with a bit more of a story line.

(3) Interlink pages. Ex. on your first page, you reference "me", this is a perfect opportunity to link to an "about me" page.

(4) Dump infolinks. Avoid advertising within this industry, it is going to appear scammy to your audience. Do you want to earn a few cents for a click or two or would you rather these people join WA?

(5) Your header is not relevant to me at all...the internet header. Domain is good, title is good, but that seems like wasted space to me and "dates" your website.

Those are my initial thoughts. I am being a bit critical just to show you what you need to update on your site. I think you have a lot of great content on your site and it is just going to be a matter of small updates and improvements to get things heading in the right direction. :)

Hope this helps.

I remember putting the infolinks in there but I can't for the life of me figure out where I added them and how to get rid of the pesky things.

Redid the header but I have the capability to remove the image altogether if you think a clean header makes more sense.

I checked to see where you were referenced and saw that I linked to both your and Carson's profiles.

I'll see what I can do about being a bit more chatty and less promotional. I had you salivating over an apple so I know it can be done. And more importantly I know that I can do it.
