I mean, I usually keep pressing "update" while I'm working on a post/page to make sure I don't lose anything. Is it a bad habit? Can it hurt with google?

I don't think how many times you update is a problem, especially if your doing something that improves your post to get a better ranking with Google. :))

I decided to ask this question here bc I got two different conflicting answers. Hope an SEO expert could answer it... and clarify why or why not.. :)

Someone else asked this recently and Kyle answered, no it can't hurt your rankings. :)

I do it too, when I take a break etc. Hope it's alright.

I haven't seen any negative effects on my site's rankings.

I typed "How to lose weight and still eat" on the search of WA Keyword Tool and clicked on the link to see results on the "Competition" column. The results I got made no sense.

Thanks Nicole. I've clicked on the link you mentioned and it shows results that finally make sense. :) Thanks again.

You're welcome and I'm glad it worked out for you. :)

All the best,
Nicole

It's a glitch either on Google's end or it's the tools fault. I just typed in the same keyword and it does show up like in your screen. When you expand the result window and go all the way down, it will say:

"In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 107 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included."

Here's an image to show you how it looks like.

If you click on that link I point out to on the image above, it will give you the search results to your keyword. I have no idea why Google/WA Tool does this to some keywords but it's annoying. :)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input here Marcia. I have no idea about the results on your link there. Have a great day!

Thanks HarOld! Have a great one too! :)

Hi I typed the same keyword and it gives me as resut for webpage a Stumbler address. I would say to send a ticket

Do what Nicole suggests, and you'll receive the real results. Very confusing, I know.. but that's how it is working for now.. :)

What's the best position for my social plugin? Floating or static? top, botton, right or left alignment? The best I mean the one that gives you the best results. Any statistic

Top or on the side. I had mine at the bottom to start and someone said they would have used it if they had seen it. :))

Social buttons that stay fixed in the browser window are great, typically on the left hand side. If you're going in-page, then I'd suggest putting them top and bottom or just bottom. If you're using a plugin that shows share counts, and your site is brand new, then I'd suggest putting them at the bottom of the post only. People love social proof so you don't want the first thing they see to be 0 social media shares when they hit your article or review.

Thanks for you input. I was sure the floating would be the best opinion, since it follows you everywhere. Is there a way to hide the numbers? I agree with you... ZERO is not a good start.. besides me, and my mom, who else will press that button? lol

Some plugins will allow you to do that, and in fact, I'll share with you a very good one that I use on a couple of sites. I recommend you install this: http://sumome.com, and be sure to install the share and image sharer addons.

The share buttons remain fixed on your screen, and you can configure them to hide share counts below a certain number. For example, no share count will show at all unless a page has been liked 10 times. But you can change the 10 to 3, 5, 15 or w/e...

The image sharer makes it super easy for people to share your pics on social - especially the Pinterest!

Thank you everyone for the ideas. I'll consider them. :)

I agree with Angela, help them set there site up and then show them how to maintain it. :))

Maybe invite them to do some guest blogs and share a portion of any proceeds with them. Or, pay them outright for the guest posts they write.

The community here or your home community? You can offer to help your friends set up a website. Maybe they would like to branch out and have their own business.
